Worship of Lakshmi

Verse 1 (garuda.1.10.1)

।।हरिरुवाच । श्र्यादिपूजां प्रवश्र्यामि स्थण्डिलादिषु सिद्धये । श्रीं ह्रीं महालक्ष्म्यै नमः । श्रां श्रीं श्रूं श्रैं श्रौं श्रः क्रमाद्धृदयं च शिरः शिखाम् । कवचं नेत्रमस्त्रं च आसनं मूर्त्तिमर्चयेत्

hariruvāca śryādipūjāṁ pravaśryāmi sthaṇḍilādiṣu siddhaye śrīṁ hrīṁ mahālakṣmyai namaḥ śrāṁ śrīṁ śrūṁ śraiṁ śrauṁ śraḥ kramāddhṛdayaṁ ca śiraḥ śikhām kavacaṁ netramastraṁ ca āsanaṁ mūrttimarcayet

Hari said: I shall now declare the worship of Shri (Lakshmi) and the rest, performed upon an altar and the like for the attainment of success. "Shrīṁ Hrīṁ, salutation to Mahalakshmi." Shrāṁ, Shrīṁ, Shrūṁ, Shraiṁ, Shrauṁ, Shraḥ — these, in order, are for the heart, the head, the crest, the armor, the eyes, and the weapon. Then one should worship the seat and the image.

Verse 2 (garuda.1.10.2)

मण्डले पद्मगर्भे च चतुर्द्वारि रजोऽन्विते । चतुः षष्ट्यन्तमष्टादि खाक्षेखाक्षेखान्यादि मण्डलम्

maṇḍale padmagarbhe ca caturdvāri rajo'nvite catuḥ ṣaṣṭyantamaṣṭādi khākṣekhākṣekhānyādi maṇḍalam

In the mandala with a lotus at its heart, having four gateways, made of colored powder — extending to sixty-four compartments, beginning from eight — such is the mandala.

Verse 3 (garuda.1.10.3)

खाक्षीन्दुसूर्य्यगं सर्वं खादिवेदेन्दुवर्त्तनात् । लक्ष्मीमंगानि चैकस्मिन्कोणे दुर्गां गणं गुरुम्

khākṣīndusūryyagaṁ sarvaṁ khādivedenduvarttanāt lakṣmīmaṁgāni caikasminkoṇe durgāṁ gaṇaṁ gurum

Let all the measures be fixed by the numerical values of sky, eyes, moon, and sun, the sequence varying according to the counts of sky, Veda, and moon. Place Lakshmi and her attendant powers, and in one corner Durga, Ganapati, and the guru.

Verse 4 (garuda.1.10.4)

क्षेत्रपालमथाग्न्यादौ होमाज्जुहाव कामभाक् । ॐ घं टं डं हं श्रीमहालक्ष्म्यै नमः

kṣetrapālamathāgnyādau homājjuhāva kāmabhāk oṁ ghaṁ ṭaṁ ḍaṁ haṁ śrīmahālakṣmyai namaḥ

And place Kshetrapala in the corner of fire and the others. The practitioner, desiring his wish, should offer oblation in the homa fire: "Om Ghaṁ Ṭaṁ Ḍaṁ Haṁ, salutation to Shri Mahalakshmi."

Verse 5 (garuda.1.10.5)

अनेन पूजयेल्लक्ष्मीं पूर्वोक्तपरिवारकैः । ॐ सौं सरस्वत्यै नमः । ॐ ह्रीं सौं सरस्वत्यै नमः

anena pūjayellakṣmīṁ pūrvoktaparivārakaiḥ oṁ sauṁ sarasvatyai namaḥ oṁ hrīṁ sauṁ sarasvatyai namaḥ

With this same mantra one should worship Lakshmi together with her aforementioned attendant deities. "Om Sauṁ, salutation to Sarasvati." "Om Hrīṁ Sauṁ, salutation to Sarasvati."

Verse 6 (garuda.1.10.6)

ॐ ह्रीं वदवदवाग्वादिनिस्वाहा ॐ ह्रीं सरस्वत्यै नमः

oṁ hrīṁ vadavadavāgvādinisvāhā oṁ hrīṁ sarasvatyai namaḥ

"Om Hrīṁ, speak, speak, O Vagvadini, svaha." "Om Hrīṁ, salutation to Sarasvati."
