Verse 1 (garuda.1.28.1)

।।सूत उवाच । गोपालपूजां वक्ष्यामि भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायिनीम् । द्वारे धाता विधाता च गंगायमुनया सह

sūta uvāca gopālapūjāṁ vakṣyāmi bhuktimuktipradāyinīm dvāre dhātā vidhātā ca gaṁgāyamunayā saha

Suta said: I shall declare the worship of Gopala, which grants both enjoyment and liberation. At the doorway, one should worship Dhata and Vidhata, together with Ganga and Yamuna.

Verse 2 (garuda.1.28.2)

शङ्खपद्मनिधी चैव सारङ्गः शरभः श्रिया । पूर्वे भद्रः सुभद्रो द्वौ दक्षे चण्डप्रचण्डकौ

śaṅkhapadmanidhī caiva sāraṅgaḥ śarabhaḥ śriyā pūrve bhadraḥ subhadro dvau dakṣe caṇḍapracaṇḍakau

Shankha and Padma, the two treasures, and Saranga and Sharabha with Shri. In the east, Bhadra and Subhadra; in the south, both Chanda and Prachanda.

Verse 3 (garuda.1.28.3)

पश्चिमे बलप्रबलौ जयश्च विजयो यजेत् । उत्तरे श्रीश्चतुर्द्वारे गणो दुर्गा सरस्वती

paścime balaprabalau jayaśca vijayo yajet uttare śrīścaturdvāre gaṇo durgā sarasvatī

In the west, one should worship Bala and Prabala, and Jaya and Vijaya. In the north, Shri; at the four gateways, Ganapati, Durga, and Sarasvati.

Verse 4 (garuda.1.28.4)

क्षेत्रस्याग्न्यादिकोणेषु दिक्षु नारदपूर्वकम् । सिद्धो गुरुर्नलकूवरं कोणे भगवतं यजेत्

kṣetrasyāgnyādikoṇeṣu dikṣu nāradapūrvakam siddho gururnalakūvaraṁ koṇe bhagavataṁ yajet

In the south-east and the other corners of the site, in the quarters, one should worship Narada and the rest. One should worship the Siddha, the guru, and Nalakubara, and in the corner, the blessed Lord.

Verse 5 (garuda.1.28.5)

पूर्वे विष्णुं विष्णुतपो विष्णुशक्तिं समर्चयेत् । ततो विष्णुपरीवारं मध्ये शक्तिं च कूर्म्मकम्

pūrve viṣṇuṁ viṣṇutapo viṣṇuśaktiṁ samarcayet tato viṣṇuparīvāraṁ madhye śaktiṁ ca kūrmmakam

In the east, one should duly worship Vishnu, Vishnu-tapas, and Vishnu-shakti. Then the family of Vishnu, and in the middle, Shakti and the Tortoise.

Verse 6 (garuda.1.28.6)

अनन्तं पृथिवीं धर्मं ज्ञानं वैराग्यमग्नितः । ऐश्वर्य्यं वायुपूर्वं च प्रकाशात्मानमुत्तरे

anantaṁ pṛthivīṁ dharmaṁ jñānaṁ vairāgyamagnitaḥ aiśvaryyaṁ vāyupūrvaṁ ca prakāśātmānamuttare

Ananta, the earth, Dharma, Knowledge, and, from the direction of fire, Dispassion; before the direction of wind, Lordship; and in the north, the form of Light.

Verse 7 (garuda.1.28.7)

सत्त्वाय प्रकृतात्मने रजसे मोहरूपिणे । तमसे कन्द पद्माय यजेत्कं काकतत्त्वकम्

sattvāya prakṛtātmane rajase moharūpiṇe tamase kanda padmāya yajetkaṁ kākatattvakam

One should worship Sattva, the self that is Nature, Rajas, the deluding form, Tamas, the bulb of the lotus, and, with "kaṁ," the crow-principle.

Verse 8 (garuda.1.28.8)

विद्यातत्त्वं परं तत्त्वं सूर्य्येन्दुवह्निमण्डलम् । विमलाद्या आसनं च प्राच्यां श्रीं ह्रीं प्रपूजयेत्

vidyātattvaṁ paraṁ tattvaṁ sūryyenduvahnimaṇḍalam vimalādyā āsanaṁ ca prācyāṁ śrīṁ hrīṁ prapūjayet

The principle of knowledge, the supreme principle, the discs of sun, moon, and fire, Vimala and the rest, and the seat should be duly worshipped in the east with "shrim hrim."

Verse 9 (garuda.1.28.9)

गोपीजनवल्लभाय स्वाहान्तो मनुरुच्यते । अङ्गानि यथा-आच क्रं च सुचक्रं च विचक्रं च तथैव च

gopījanavallabhāya svāhānto manurucyate aṅgāni yathā-āca kraṁ ca sucakraṁ ca vicakraṁ ca tathaiva ca

"Gopijanavallabhaya svaha" — this is called the root-mantra. The limbs should be placed thus — "āca," "kraṁ," "sucakraṁ," "vicakraṁ" — likewise,

Verse 10 (garuda.1.28.10)

त्रैलोक्यरक्षकं चक्रमसुरारिसुदर्शनम् । हृदादिपूर्वकोणषु अस्त्रं शक्तिं च पूर्वतः

trailokyarakṣakaṁ cakramasurārisudarśanam hṛdādipūrvakoṇaṣu astraṁ śaktiṁ ca pūrvataḥ

One should place the discus Sudarshana, protector of the three worlds, foe of the demons. In the heart and the eastern corners, and in the east, the weapon and the power.

Verse 11 (garuda.1.28.11)

रुक्मिणी सत्यभामा च सुनन्दा नाग्नजित्यपि । लक्ष्मणा मित्रविंदा च जाम्बवत्या शुशीलया

rukmiṇī satyabhāmā ca sunandā nāgnajityapi lakṣmaṇā mitraviṁdā ca jāmbavatyā śuśīlayā

With Rukmini, Satyabhama, Sunanda, Nagnajiti, Lakshmana, Mitravinda, Jambavati, and Sushila —

Verse 12 (garuda.1.28.12)

शङ्खचक्रगदापद्मं मुसलं शार्ङ्गमर्चयेत् । खङ्गं पाशाङ्कुशं प्राच्यां श्रीवत्सं कौस्तुभं यजेत्

śaṅkhacakragadāpadmaṁ musalaṁ śārṅgamarcayet khaṅgaṁ pāśāṅkuśaṁ prācyāṁ śrīvatsaṁ kaustubhaṁ yajet

One should worship the conch, discus, mace, lotus, pestle, and the bow Sharnga. One should worship the sword, noose, and goad, and, in the east, Shrivatsa and the Kaustubha jewel.

Verse 13 (garuda.1.28.13)

मुकुटं वलमालां च ऐंद्राद्यान्ध्वजमुख्यकान् । कुमुदाद्यान्विष्वक्सेनं श्रिया कृष्णं सहार्चयेत् । जप्याद्ध्यानात्पूजनाच्च सर्वान्कामानवान्पुयात्

mukuṭaṁ valamālāṁ ca aiṁdrādyāndhvajamukhyakān kumudādyānviṣvaksenaṁ śriyā kṛṣṇaṁ sahārcayet japyāddhyānātpūjanācca sarvānkāmānavānpuyāt

One should worship the crown and the forest-garland, Indra and the other principal banner-bearers, Kumuda and the rest, Vishvaksena, and Krishna together with Shri. Through recitation, meditation, and worship, a man obtains all his desires.
