Chapter 63All chaptersChapter 65

Verse 1 (padma.1.64.1)

vyāsa uvāca. punaranyatpravakṣyāmi stotraṁ gaṇādhipasya ca. sarvasiddhikaraṁ pūtaṁ sarvābhīṣṭaphalapradaṁ

Vyasa said: I shall now declare yet another hymn of the Lord of the Ganas — pure, bestowing every accomplishment, and granting the fruit of every desire.

Verse 2 (padma.1.64.2)

ekadaṁtaṁ mahākāyaṁ taptakāṁcanasannibham. laṁbodaraṁ viśālākṣaṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakaṁ

I bow to the Lord of the Ganas — single-tusked, of vast form, resembling molten gold, pot-bellied, and wide-eyed.

Verse 3 (padma.1.64.3)

muṁjakṛṣṇājinadharaṁ nāgayajñopavītakam. bāleṁdukalikāmauliṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakaṁ

I bow to the Lord of the Ganas — wearing a girdle of munja grass and a black antelope skin, bearing a sacred thread of serpents, his crown adorned with the crescent of the young moon.

Verse 4 (padma.1.64.4)

sarvavighnaharaṁ devaṁ sarvavighnavivarjitam. mūṣakottamamāruhya devāsuramahāhave

I bow to the god who removes every obstacle and is himself free of every obstacle, who, mounted upon the finest of mice, in the great battle between gods and demons—

Verse 5 (padma.1.64.5)

yoddhukāmaṁ mahābāhuṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakam. aṁbikāhṛdayānaṁdaṁ mātṛkāpariveṣṭitam

—desired to fight, mighty-armed: I bow to the Lord of the Ganas, the joy of Ambika's heart, surrounded by the Mother Goddesses.

Verse 6 (padma.1.64.6)

bhaktipriyaṁ madonmattaṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakam. citraratnavicitrāṁgaṁ citramālāvibhūṣaṇam

I bow to the Lord of the Ganas, who loves devotion, joyously intoxicated, whose limbs are adorned with wondrous jewels and decked with garlands of many colors.

Verse 7 (padma.1.64.7)

kāmarūpadharaṁ devaṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakam. gajavaktraṁ suraśreṣṭhaṁ cārukarṇavibhūṣitam

I bow to the Lord of the Ganas, the god who assumes any form at will, elephant-faced, foremost among the gods, adorned with lovely ears.

Verse 8 (padma.1.64.8)

pāśāṁkuśadharaṁ devaṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakam. yakṣakinnaragaṁdharvaiḥ siddhavidyādharaissadā

I bow to the Lord of the Ganas, the god who bears the noose and the goad, ever, by yakshas, kinnaras, gandharvas, siddhas, and vidyadharas—

Verse 9 (padma.1.64.9)

stūyamānaṁ mahādehaṁ vaṁdehaṁ gaṇanāyakam. gaṇāṣṭakamidaṁ puṇyaṁ bhaktito yaḥ paṭhennaraḥ

—being praised, of vast form: I bow to the Lord of the Ganas. Whoever recites this meritorious eightfold hymn with devotion—

Verse 10 (padma.1.64.10)

sarvasiddhimavāpnoti rudraloke mahīyate. na niḥsvatāṁ tathābhyeti saptajanmasu mānavaḥ

—he obtains every accomplishment and is honored in the world of Rudra; nor does that man ever come to poverty through seven lifetimes.

Verse 11 (padma.1.64.11)

ya idaṁ paṭhate nityaṁ mahārājo bhavennaraḥ. vaśyaṁ karoti trailokyaṁ paṭhanācchravaṇādapi. stotraṁ paraṁ mahāpuṇyaṁ gaṇapasya mahātmanaḥ

He who recites this daily becomes a great king among men; merely by reciting or even hearing it, he brings the three worlds under his control — such is this supreme and greatly meritorious hymn of the great-souled Lord of the Ganas.
