Verse 1 (padma.1.65.1)
vyāsa uvāca-. nāṁdīmukheṣu sarveṣu pūjayedyo gaṇādhipam. tasya sarvo bhavedvaśyaḥ puṇyaṁ bhavati cākṣayam
Vyasa said: Whoever worships the Lord of the Ganas at every nandimukha rite — for him everything becomes subject to his will, and his merit becomes imperishable.
Verse 2 (padma.1.65.2)
gaṇānāṁ tveti maṁtreṇa sarvayajñaghaṭeṣu ca. sarvasiddhimavāpnoti svargaṁ mokṣaṁ labhennaraḥ
With the mantra "Gaṇānāṁ tvā...", in every vessel of sacrifice, a man obtains every accomplishment and attains heaven and liberation.
Verse 3 (padma.1.65.3)
mṛṇmaye pratimāyāṁ ca citre cātha dṛṣaṇmaye. dvāradāruṇi pātre ca heraṁbaṁ lekhayedbudhaḥ
The wise man should depict Heramba in a clay image, in a painting, in a stone image, on a wooden door, or in a vessel.
Verse 4 (padma.1.65.4)
anyasminnapi deśe tu satataṁ dṛṣṭigocare. sthāpayitvā tu heraṁbaṁ śaktyā yaḥ pūjayedbudhaḥ
Or in any other place always within sight — the wise man who, having installed Heramba there, worships him according to his ability—
Verse 5 (padma.1.65.5)
tasya kāryāṇi siddhyaṁti dayitāni samaṁtataḥ. na vighnaṁ jāyate kiṁcittrailokyaṁ vaśamānayet
—all his desired undertakings succeed completely; no obstacle whatsoever arises for him, and he brings the three worlds under his control.
Verse 6 (padma.1.65.6)

The seeker of wealth obtains abundant riches, a virtuous and lovely bride, prosperity attainable through dharma, and a son who grants liberation to the family.
Verse 8 (padma.1.65.8)
na rogaiḥ pīḍyate kaścinna grahaiḥ pretayonibhiḥ. śṛṁgibhirnāpi rakṣobhirvidyudbhirvanataskaraiḥ
No one is afflicted by diseases, nor by seizing-spirits born of the preta realm, nor by horned beasts, nor by demons, lightning, or forest-robbers—
Verse 9 (padma.1.65.9)
na rājā kupyati gṛhe na ca mārī pravartate. na daurbhikṣyaṁ na daurbalyaṁ pūjayitvā vināyakam
—the king does not grow angry with him at home, nor does pestilence occur, nor famine, nor weakness — for one who has worshipped Vinayaka.
Verse 10 (padma.1.65.10)
abhipretārthasiddhyarthaṁ pūjito yaḥ surairapi. sarvavighnachide tasmai gaṇādhipataye namaḥ
He who is worshipped even by the gods for the accomplishment of their desired aims — salutation to him, the Lord of the Ganas, the destroyer of every obstacle.
Verse 11 (padma.1.65.11)
maṁtraścāyaṁ oṁ namo gaṇapataye. nārāyaṇapriyaiḥ puṣpairanyaiścāpi sugaṁdhibhiḥ. modakaiḥ phalamūlaiśca dravyaiḥ kālodbhavaistathā
This is the mantra: "Om, salutation to Ganapati." With flowers dear to Narayana and other fragrant ones, with sweets, fruits, roots, and substances proper to the season—
Verse 12 (padma.1.65.12)
dadhidugdhaiḥ priyairvādyairapi dhūpasugaṁdhibhiḥ. pūjayedgaṇapaṁ yastu sarvasiddhimavāpnuyāt
—and with curd and milk, with pleasing musical instruments, and with fragrant incense, whoever worships Ganapa thus obtains every accomplishment.
Verse 13 (padma.1.65.13)
viśeṣāttasya liṁge tu yo dadāti vasupriyam. pūjopakaraṇaṁ vastraṁ sarvaṁ lakṣaguṇaṁ bhavet
Especially, whoever offers to his image what is dear and precious — worship-materials, cloth — all of it becomes a hundred-thousandfold meritorious.
Verse 14 (padma.1.65.14)
deśe ca bhārate varṣe vanitā pūrvasannidhau. lauhityadakṣiṇe tīre liṁgarūpo vināyakaḥ
In the land of Bharata, near Vanita, to the east, on the southern bank of the Lauhitya river — Vinayaka stands there in the form of a linga.
Verse 15 (padma.1.65.15)
haragaurīsamādeśāddevānāṁ saṁmatena ca. sthito lokapraśāṁtyarthaṁ sarvavighnavināśanāt
By the joint command of Hara and Gauri, and with the assent of the gods, he stands there for the pacification of the world, through the destruction of every obstacle.
Verse 16 (padma.1.65.16)
pūjayitvā tu taṁ devaṁ śaktito dravyasaṁcayaiḥ. vināyakatvamāpnoti vedaśāstrārthapāragaḥ
Having worshipped that god according to one's ability, with an accumulation of offerings, one becomes free of every obstacle and becomes accomplished in the meaning of the Vedas and scriptures.
Verse 17 (padma.1.65.17)
sakṛtpradakṣiṇaṁ kṛtvā dṛṣṭvā spṛṣṭvā tu mānavaḥ. akṣayaṁ labhate svargaṁ sadā devaiḥ prapūjyate
A man, merely by circumambulating once, seeing, and touching the deity, obtains imperishable heaven and is forever honored by the gods.
Verse 18 (padma.1.65.18)
saṁsargiṇāṁ ca mlechānāṁ gatyarthaṁ sutapasvinām. putrārthaṁ sarvalokānāṁ tatra śaṁbhurvināyakaḥ
For the salvation even of those who have come into contact with mlecchas, for great ascetics, and for the sake of offspring for all the worlds — there Shambhu stands as Vinayaka.
Verse 19 (padma.1.65.19)
kṛtvābhiṣekaṁ lauhitye spṛśedyastu gaṇādhipam. saptajanmakṛtātpāpānmucyate nātra saṁśayaḥ
Whoever, having bathed in the Lauhitya, touches the Lord of the Ganas, is freed from sins committed over seven lifetimes — of this there is no doubt.
Verse 20 (padma.1.65.20)
na vaidhavyaṁ na kārpaṇyaṁ na śokaṁ na tu matsaram. vināyakaṁ samāsādya janmajanmani saṁlabhet
Having attained the grace of Vinayaka, one never obtains widowhood, poverty, grief, or envy, birth after birth.
Verse 21 (padma.1.65.21)
punaḥ siddhiḥ punarbhogyaṁ punaḥ kīrtiḥ punarbalam. pūjayitvā tu gaṇapaṁ narasya nātra saṁśayaḥ
Accomplishment again and again, enjoyment again and again, fame again and again, strength again and again — for a man who worships Ganapa, there is no doubt of this.
Verse 22 (padma.1.65.22)
asya pūjāmakṛtvā ca sarvābhīṣṭaṁ vinaśyati. tatra devāśca suprītā brahmaviṣṇuharādayaḥ
But without performing his worship, every desired aim is destroyed. In this matter the gods too are well pleased — Brahma, Vishnu, Hara, and the rest.
Verse 23 (padma.1.65.23)
maghono gaṇapasyātha pūjāvirahitasya ca. athāsurairmahāvīryairhiraṇyākṣamukhai raṇe
Now, Maghavan, who had neglected the worship of Ganapa — then, in battle, by the asuras of great valor, headed by Hiranyaksha—
Verse 24 (padma.1.65.24)
maghavā tu jito vīryāddhiraṇyākṣeṇa vai tadā. tatassurāśca nirvīryā yāvadvarṣaśataṁ purā
—Maghavan was defeated in valor by Hiranyaksha at that time. Then the gods remained powerless for a hundred years, in that former age.
Verse 25 (padma.1.65.25)
daivāsure mahāyuddhe surāṇāṁ ca parājayaḥ. tato devādhideve tu śive devairniveditam
In that great war between gods and asuras, the gods suffered defeat. Then it was reported by the gods to Shiva, the god of gods—
Verse 26 (padma.1.65.26)
bhagavannasurairno hi jitaṁ rājyaṁ gatā makhāḥ. etasminnaṁtare śaṁbhurdevānvacanamabravīt
"—O Lord, our kingdom has indeed been conquered by the asuras, and our sacrifices are lost." At this, Shambhu spoke this word to the gods—
Verse 27 (padma.1.65.27)
heraṁbāya varo datta umayā prītayā mayā. pūjayā te parā siddhirdevādīnāṁ bhavatviti
"—A boon was granted to Heramba by Uma and by me, out of affection: that through worship of him, supreme accomplishment shall come to the gods and others."
Verse 28 (padma.1.65.28)
avajānāti yo mohātpuruṣastu mahotsave. na bhavettasya siddhiśca raṇe cāpi parājayaḥ
"—Whatever man disregards him out of delusion at that great festival of worship — accomplishment shall not be his, and he shall meet defeat even in battle."
Verse 29 (padma.1.65.29)
mahāmakhena yuṣmābhiḥ pūjā gaṇapateḥ kṛtā. helayā na kṛtā mohāttasmātprāptaḥ parājayaḥ
"—In the great sacrifice, worship of Ganapati was performed by you, but out of delusion it was done carelessly, without devotion; therefore defeat has been your lot."
Verse 30 (padma.1.65.30)
śīghraṁ gacchata vai puṇyāṁ gaṇapasya mahātmanaḥ. pūjāṁ kuruta dharmajñā jayastūrṇaṁ bhaviṣyati
"—Go quickly, O knowers of dharma, and perform the auspicious worship of the great-souled Ganapa; victory shall come swiftly."

tato haramukhācchrutvā vacaḥ kṣemaparaṁ hitam. prahṛṣṭā vibudhāssarve gaṇapasya puraḥ sthitāḥ
Then, having heard from Hara's own mouth these words, wholesome and beneficial, all the gods, greatly delighted, stood before Ganapa.
Verse 32 (padma.1.65.32)
devā ūcuḥ-. gaṇādhipa namastubhyaṁ sarvadevaikapālaka. svargabhogaprada prītyā heraṁba tvāṁ natāḥ sma ha

tribhirbibheda bāṇaiśca lalāṭe hṛdi paṁcabhiḥ. saptabhirjaṭhare nābhau bastau tasya sa paṁcabhiḥ
—pierced him with three arrows on the forehead, with five in the heart, with seven in the belly, and with five in the navel and bladder.
Verse 119 (padma.1.65.119)
śaraiḥ saṁpātito daityo mugdhaḥ kaśmalatāṁ gataḥ. śithilīkṛtacāpaśca lebhe saṁjñāṁ cirādbalī
Struck down by those arrows, the daitya, stunned, fell into a swoon; his bow slackened from his grip, and the mighty one regained his senses only after a long while.
Verse 120 (padma.1.65.120)
madhusaṁjñaṁ tribhirbāṇaissa bibheda surottamam. cakartta dhanurastraiśca daityarājasya paśyataḥ
He then pierced with three arrows that foremost of gods called Madhu, and, before the very eyes of the daitya-king, cut his bow to pieces with his weapons.
Verse 121 (padma.1.65.121)
tato bāṇasahasraistu kālāṁtakasamaprabhaiḥ. bibheda daityasiṁhaṁ tu surāṇāmuttamo balī
Then, with thousands of arrows, radiant as Time the destroyer, that mighty one, foremost among the gods, pierced the lion among daityas.
Verse 122 (padma.1.65.122)
hatacetāḥ sa daityeṁdro bahuśoṇitasaṁsravaḥ. vihvalo bahubāṇārtaḥ śūlaṁ jagrāha dānavaḥ
That lord of daityas, his senses shattered, streaming with much blood, overwhelmed and afflicted by many arrows, the danava seized a trident.
Verse 123 (padma.1.65.123)
śūlahastasya tasyaiva caturbhisturagānśaraiḥ. hatvā ca pātayāmāsa tribhiryaṁtārameva ca
Of that same trident-wielder, with four arrows he struck down and felled the horses, and with three arrows felled his charioteer as well.
Verse 124 (padma.1.65.124)
jaghāna śūlamurvīṣṭhastato gaṁdharvasattamam. vicakartta tribhirbāṇaiḥ śūlaṁ citraratho balī
Then, standing on the ground, he hurled his trident at that foremost of gandharvas; the mighty Chitraratha cut the trident into three with his arrows.
Verse 125 (padma.1.65.125)
śūlaṁ ca naṣṭakaṁ dṛṣṭvā hatabhogamivoragam. gṛhītvā mudgaraṁ ghoraṁ pradudrāva suraṁ balī
Seeing his trident destroyed — like a serpent robbed of its hood — the mighty one, seizing a terrible club, rushed at the god.
Verse 126 (padma.1.65.126)
sa mudgaraṁ samāyātaṁ daityasenādhipaṁ tadā. vicakartta śiro dehādardhacaṁdreṇa saṁbhramāt
As that commander of the daitya army came on, club in hand, Chitraratha swiftly cut off his head from his body with a crescent-headed arrow.
Verse 127 (padma.1.65.127)
He fell upon the surface of the earth, and the ground shook. Then all the hosts of daityas, routed, fled in every direction.
