sukarmovāca- kāmasya gītalāsyena hāsyena lalitena ca mohito rājarājeṁdro naṭarūpeṇa pippala

Sukarma said: "By Kama's song and dance, by his laughter and charming ways, in the guise of an actor, O Pippala, that king of kings was bewitched."

Verse 2 (padma.2.77.2)

कृत्वा मूत्रं पुरीषं च स राजा नहुषात्मजः । अकृत्वा पादयोः शौचमासने उपविष्टवान्

That king, son of Nahusha, having passed urine and stool, sat down upon his seat without washing his feet.

Verse 3 (padma.2.77.3)

tadaṁtaraṁ tu saṁprāpya saṁcacāra jarā nṛpam kāmenāpi nṛpaśreṣṭha iṁdrakāryaṁ kṛtaṁ hitam

Seizing that very opportunity, Old Age moved into the king; through Kama too, O best of kings, Indra's purpose was thus fulfilled, to his advantage.

Verse 4 (padma.2.77.4)

निवृत्ते नाटके तस्मिन्गतेषु तेषु भूपतिः । जराभिभूतो धर्मात्मा कामसंसक्तमानसः

mṛgeṇa ca sa tenāpi dūramākarṣito nṛpaḥ gataḥ sarathavegena śrameṇa parikheditaḥ

Drawn far away by that deer, the king, following at the speed of his chariot, grew utterly exhausted with fatigue.

Verse 11 (padma.2.77.11)

वीक्षमाणस्य तस्यापि मृगश्चांतरधीयत । स पश्यति वनं तत्र नंदंनोपममद्भुतम्

vīkṣamāṇasya tasyāpi mṛgaścāṁtaradhīyata sa paśyati vanaṁ tatra naṁdaṁnopamamadbhutam
