Brahmins, whoever has ever worshipped the goddess Tulasi, bestower of dharma, wealth, desire, and the supreme nectar of immortality, with food-offerings, excellent flowers, incense, ghee, and lamps — what further need has he to separately worship Vishnu's own feet?
Verse 31 (padma.7.24.31)

Whoever plants, in a pure and faultless place, Tulasi, served by the hosts of gods, the bringer of Hari's delight — pleased with them, brahmin, Hari, foe of the demons, Lord of all three worlds, swiftly grants them the supreme abode.
Verse 32 (padma.7.24.32)
yajñaṁ vrataṁ ca pitṛpūjanamacyutārccāṁ dānaṁ yadanyadapi karmaśubhaṁ manuṣyāḥ kurvaṁti doṣarahite tulasītale ca tānyakṣayāṇi sakalāni bhavaṁti nūnam
Sacrifice, vows, worship of ancestors, worship of the Imperishable Lord, charitable gifts, and whatever other auspicious deed people perform beneath a faultless tulasi plant — all of these surely become imperishable.
Verse 33 (padma.7.24.33)
yaddharmakarmakurute manujaḥ pṛthivyāṁ nārāyaṇapriyatamāṁ tulasīṁ vinā ca tatsarvameva viphalaṁ bhavati dvijendra padmekṣaṇo'pi na hi tuṣyati devadevaḥ
Whatever meritorious act a man performs upon this earth without Tulasi, so dear to Narayana, all of it becomes fruitless, foremost of brahmins; even the lotus-eyed God of gods is not pleased by it.
Verse 34 (padma.7.24.34)

Whatever man, endowed with devotion, beholds the auspicious, sacred Tulasi during his pilgrimages, by Hari's grace the entire fruit of that pilgrimage is swiftly fulfilled for him — this is my firm assertion.
Verse 35 (padma.7.24.35)
tyaktvā sugandhikusumaṁ bhuvanaikanātho maṁdārakundanalinādikamapyanaṁtaḥ gṛhṇāti sadguṇamayīṁ tulasīṁ pramodaiḥ śuṣkāmapi pracurapāpavināśarakṣām
The sole Lord of the universe, the infinite one, setting aside even fragrant mandara, kunda, and lotus flowers, joyfully accepts Tulasi, endowed with such virtue, even when withered — for she is the protector, the destroyer of abundant sin.
Verse 36 (padma.7.24.36)
utpāṭya caiva tulasīṁ bhuvi nikṣipaṁti pāpāśayā'mṛtalatābha nidānabhūtām ajñānato naraharistulasīpriyo'sau teṣāṁ śriyaṁ harati saṁtatameva satyam
Whatever people, wicked of intent, uproot Tulasi — that vine like nectar itself, the very source of every blessing — and cast her upon the ground, from them the Man-Lion, lover of Tulasi, in his ignorance still, continually takes away their fortune — this is true.
Verse 37 (padma.7.24.37)
mūtraṁ purīṣaṁ tulasītaleṣu kurvaṁti ye'pi ca malaṁ satataṁ manuṣyāḥ devāśraye saṁcita pātakānāṁ teṣāṁ haratyāśu harirdhanāni
Whatever people continually urinate, defecate, or leave filth beneath Tulasi, accumulating sin in this very refuge of the gods, Hari swiftly takes away their wealth.
Verse 38 (padma.7.24.38)
nārāyaṇasyapūjārthaṁ cinomi tvāṁ namostute kusumaiḥ pārijātādyairgaṁdhādyairapi keśavaḥ
(This mantra should be recited when plucking the leaves) — "For the worship of Narayana I pluck you; homage to you." With flowers such as parijata, and with fragrance —
Verse 39 (padma.7.24.39)
tvayā vinā naiti tṛptiṁ cinomi tvāmataḥ śubhe tvayā vinā mahābhāge samastaṁ karma niṣphalam
"— even Keshava finds no satisfaction without you; therefore, auspicious one, I pluck you. Most fortunate one, without you every rite is fruitless."
Verse 40 (padma.7.24.40)
atastu tulasī devi cinomi varadā bhava cayanodbhava duḥkhaṁ te yaddevi hṛdi jāyate
"Therefore, goddess Tulasi, I pluck you — be a bestower of boons. Goddess, whatever pain the plucking causes to arise in your heart —"
Verse 41 (padma.7.24.41)
tatkṣamasva jagannāthe tulasi tvāṁ namāmyaham kṛtāñjalirimānmantrānpaṭhitvā vaiṣṇavo janaḥ
"— forgive that, O Tulasi of the Lord of the world; I bow to you." Reciting these mantras with joined palms, the Vaishnava —
Verse 42 (padma.7.24.42)
karatāladvayaṁ datvā cinoti tulasīdalam yathā na kaṁpate śākhā tulasyā dvijasattama
— plucks the tulasi leaf, joining both palms together, in such a way, best of brahmins, that the branch of Tulasi does not tremble.
Verse 43 (padma.7.24.43)
patrasya cayane devī bhagnaśākhā yadā bhavet tadā hṛdi vyathā viṣṇorjjāyate tulasīpateḥ
If, in the plucking of a leaf, the goddess's branch is broken, then anguish arises in the heart of Vishnu, the Lord of Tulasi.
Verse 44 (padma.7.24.44)
śākhāgrātpatitaṁ bhūmau patraṁ patraṁ purātanam tenāpi pūjyo govindo madhukaiṭabhamarddanaḥ
A leaf that has fallen of its own accord, an old leaf, dropped to the ground from the branch's tip — even with that, Govinda, crusher of Madhu and Kaitabha, may be worshipped.
Verse 45 (padma.7.24.45)
komalaistulasīpatrairyo'rcayedacyutaṁ prabhum sarvaṁ sa labhate śīghraṁ yadyadicchati cetasā
Whoever worships the Imperishable Lord with tender tulasi leaves swiftly obtains whatever he desires in his heart.
Verse 46 (padma.7.24.46)
jaiminiruvāca- tulasīvṛkṣasadṛśaḥ kovṛkṣo'sti dvijarṣabha tamahaṁ jñātumicchāmi brūhi satyavatīsuta
Jaimini said: Bull among brahmins, what other tree is comparable to the tulasi plant? I wish to know it — tell me, son of Satyavati.
Verse 47 (padma.7.24.47)
vyāsa uvāca- yathā priyatamā viṣṇostulasī satataṁ dvija tathā priyatamā dhātrī sarvapāpapraṇāśinī
Vyasa said: Brahmin, just as Tulasi is ever most dear to Vishnu, so too Dhatri, the amla tree, is most dear to him, and destroys every sin.
Verse 48 (padma.7.24.48)
tulasīvṛkṣamāsādya yā yāstiṣṭhaṁti devatāḥ āmalakyāstale tāstā nivasaṁti dvijottama
Whatever gods dwell within the tulasi plant, best of brahmins, those very gods dwell as well beneath the amla tree.
Verse 49 (padma.7.24.49)
gaṁgādīni ca tīrthāni tatraiva dvijasattama viṣṇupriyatamā dhātrī pavitrā yatra tiṣṭhati
Best of brahmins, wherever the sacred Dhatri, most dear to Vishnu, stands, there too the Ganga and every other sacred ford are present.
Verse 50 (padma.7.24.50)
aśubhaṁ vāśubhaṁ vāpi yatkarmāmalakītale kriyate mānavairviṁpra bhavettatsatyamakṣayam
Brahmin, whatever act, whether good or evil, is performed by men beneath the amla tree, it surely becomes imperishable.
Verse 51 (padma.7.24.51)
pavitrairnūtaneḥ patrairdhātryā yaḥ pūjayeddharim sa muktaḥ pāpajālena sāyujyaṁ labhate hareḥ
Whoever worships Hari with the pure, fresh leaves of Dhatri, freed from the web of sin, attains oneness with Hari.
Verse 52 (padma.7.24.52)
dhātrī ca tulasīdevī na tiṣṭhedyatra jaimine sthānaṁ tadapavitraṁ syānna ca kriyāphalaṁ labhet
O Jaimini, wherever neither Dhatri nor the goddess Tulasi stands, that place is impure, and one obtains no fruit for any rite performed there.
Verse 53 (padma.7.24.53)
na tiṣṭhatyāśrame yasya dhātrī ca tulasī śubhā tena karma kṛtaṁ sarvaṁ nūnaṁ gacchati niṣphalam
Whoever's hermitage lacks both Dhatri and the auspicious Tulasi, all the acts performed by him surely come to nothing.
Verse 54 (padma.7.24.54)
dhātryā tulasyā hīnaṁ ca nilayaṁ yasya bhūsura alakṣmīḥ pātakaṁ sarvaṁ kaliśca tena toṣitaḥ
O earthly god, whoever's house is devoid of Dhatri and Tulasi — by him misfortune, every sin, and the age of Kali itself are made content.
Verse 55 (padma.7.24.55)
sthāne tasmindvijaśreṣṭha na dhātrī tulasī na ca śmaśānatulyaṁ sthānaṁ tadvijñeyaṁ tatvadarśibhiḥ
Best of brahmins, in a place where there is neither Dhatri nor Tulasi, seers of truth should know that place to be like a cremation ground.
Verse 56 (padma.7.24.56)
dhātrī ca tulasī yatra tiṣṭhettatrākhilāḥ surāḥ na dhātrī tulasī patraṁ tatraivākhilapātakam
Wherever both Dhatri and Tulasi stand, there dwell all the gods; wherever there is neither Dhatri nor a single tulasi leaf, there dwells every sin.
Verse 57 (padma.7.24.57)

dhātrīphalamayīṁ mālāṁ yo vaheddivajasattama bravīmi śṛṇu māhātmyaṁ sarvapāpaharaṁ param
Best of brahmins, hear the supreme, all-sin-removing glory of whoever wears a garland made of amla fruits, which I shall now tell.

taṁ dṛṣṭvā pāpinaḥ sarve pāpajālaiḥ sudāruṇaiḥ sadya eva pramucyaṁte janmakoṭiśatairapi

sarvadevamayī dhātrī viśeṣātkeśavapriyā samyagvaktuṁ guṇaṁ tasyā brahmaṇāpi na śakyate
Dhatri is composed of all the gods, especially dear to Keshava; even Brahma is not capable of fully describing her virtues.
