The Gods' Hymn of Praise to Shiva

Verse 1 (shiva.rudra.61.1)

विष्ण्वादय ऊचुः । देवदेव महादेव लौकिकाचारकृत्प्रभो । ब्रह्म त्वामीश्वरं शम्भुं जानीमः कृपया तव

viṣṇvādaya ūcuḥ | devadeva mahādeva laukikācārakṛtprabho | brahma tvāmīśvaraṁ śambhuṁ jānīmaḥ kṛpayā tava

Vishnu and the others said: "O god of gods, O Mahadeva, O Lord who upholds the ways of the world! By your grace alone do we know you, Ishvara Shambhu, as the very Brahman."

Verse 2 (shiva.rudra.61.2)

किं मोहयसि नस्तात मायया परया तव । दुर्ज्ञेयया सदा पुंसां मोहिन्या परमेश्वर

kiṁ mohayasi nastāta māyayā parayā tava | durjñeyayā sadā puṁsāṁ mohinyā parameśvara

"Why do you bewilder us, O father, with that supreme maya of yours — ever hard for men to fathom, ever deluding, O Supreme Lord?"

Verse 3 (shiva.rudra.61.3)

प्रकृतेः पुरुषस्यापि जगतो योनिबीजयोः । परब्रह्म परस्त्वं च मनोवाचामगोचरः

prakṛteḥ puruṣasyāpi jagato yonibījayoḥ | parabrahma parastvaṁ ca manovācāmagocaraḥ

"You are the supreme Brahman, beyond even Prakriti and Purusha — the womb and seed of the universe — and beyond the reach of mind and speech."

Verse 4 (shiva.rudra.61.4)

त्वमेव विश्वं सृजसि पास्यत्सि निजतन्त्रतः । स्वरूपां शिवशक्तिं हि क्रीडन्नूर्णपटो यथा

tvameva viśvaṁ sṛjasi pāsyatsi nijatantrataḥ | svarūpāṁ śivaśaktiṁ hi krīḍannūrṇapaṭo yathā

"You alone create the universe, sustain it, and destroy it, through your own inherent power, Shiva-shakti, your own true nature — even as a spider plays with its own web."

Verse 5 (shiva.rudra.61.5)

त्वमेव क्रतुमीशान ससर्जिथ दयापरः । दक्षेण सूत्रेण विभो सदा त्रय्यभिपत्तये

tvameva kratumīśāna sasarjitha dayāparaḥ | dakṣeṇa sūtreṇa vibho sadā trayyabhipattaye

"You alone, O Ishana, full of compassion, brought forth the sacrificial rite through Daksha as your instrument, O all-pervading one, always for the fulfillment of the triple Veda."

Verse 6 (shiva.rudra.61.6)

त्वयैव लोकेऽवसिताः सेतवो यान् धृतव्रताः । शुद्धान् श्रद्दधते विप्रा वेदमार्गविचक्षणाः

tvayaiva loke'vasitāḥ setavo yān dhṛtavratāḥ | śuddhān śraddadhate viprā vedamārgavicakṣaṇāḥ

"It is by you alone that the boundaries of righteous conduct are established in this world — those pure bounds in which Brahmins of firm vows, skilled in the path of the Veda, place their faith."

Verse 7 (shiva.rudra.61.7)

कर्तुस्त्वं मङ्गलानां हि स्वपरं तु सुखे विभो । अमङ्गलानां च हितं मिश्रं वाथ विपर्ययम्

kartustvaṁ maṅgalānāṁ hi svaparaṁ tu sukhe vibho | amaṅgalānāṁ ca hitaṁ miśraṁ vātha viparyayam

"You, O all-pervading Lord, give happiness both for himself and for others to the doer of auspicious deeds, and to the doer of inauspicious deeds you give what is fitting — whether mixed with good, or its very opposite."

Verse 8 (shiva.rudra.61.8)

सर्वकर्मफलानां हि सदा दाता त्वमेव हि । सर्वे हि प्रोक्ताः पशवस्तत्पतिस्त्वं श्रुतिश्रुतः

sarvakarmaphalānāṁ hi sadā dātā tvameva hi | sarve hi proktāḥ paśavastatpatistvaṁ śrutiśrutaḥ

"You alone are always the giver of the fruits of all actions. All beings are declared to be your 'cattle', and you are their Lord, as the Shruti itself proclaims."

Verse 9 (shiva.rudra.61.9)

पृथग्धियः कर्मदृशोऽरुन्तुदाश्च दुराशयाः । वितुदन्ति परान् मूढा दुरुक्तैर्मत्सरान्विताः

pṛthagdhiyaḥ karmadṛśo'runtudāśca durāśayāḥ | vitudanti parān mūḍhā duruktairmatsarānvitāḥ

"Those of divided understanding, who see only the fruit of ritual action, who wound others with their words and harbor evil intent — such fools, filled with envy, torment others with harsh speech."

Verse 10 (shiva.rudra.61.10)

तेषां दैववधानां भो भूयात्त्वच्च वधो विभो । भगवन्परमेशान कृपां कुरु परप्रभो

teṣāṁ daivavadhānāṁ bho bhūyāttvacca vadho vibho | bhagavanparameśāna kṛpāṁ kuru paraprabho

"May the destruction that comes upon them from fate be also, O Lord, understood as your own act of destruction; O Blessed One, O Supreme Ruler, O highest Lord, show us mercy."

Verse 11 (shiva.rudra.61.11)

नमो रुद्राय शान्ताय ब्रह्मणे परमात्मने । कपर्दिने महेशाय ज्योत्स्नाय महते नमः

namo rudrāya śāntāya brahmaṇe paramātmane | kapardine maheśāya jyotsnāya mahate namaḥ

"Salutation to Rudra, the tranquil one, to Brahman, the Supreme Self; salutation to Kapardin, the matted-locked one, to Mahesha, to the great one who is himself moonlight."

Verse 12 (shiva.rudra.61.12)

त्वं हि विश्वसृजां स्रष्टा धाता त्वं प्रपितामहः । त्रिगुणात्मा निर्गुणश्च प्रकृतेः पुरुषात्परः

tvaṁ hi viśvasṛjāṁ sraṣṭā dhātā tvaṁ prapitāmahaḥ | triguṇātmā nirguṇaśca prakṛteḥ puruṣātparaḥ

"You indeed are the creator of the creators of the universe, the ordainer, the great-grandsire; possessed of the three gunas, yet beyond gunas, beyond both Prakriti and Purusha."

Verse 13 (shiva.rudra.61.13)

नमस्ते नीलकण्ठाय वेधसे परमात्मने । विश्वाय विश्वबीजाय जगदानन्दहेतवे

namaste nīlakaṇṭhāya vedhase paramātmane | viśvāya viśvabījāya jagadānandahetave

"Salutation to you, blue-throated one, the ordainer, the Supreme Self; to the universe itself, to the seed of the universe, to the very cause of the world's bliss."

Verse 14 (shiva.rudra.61.14)

ओङ्कारस्त्वं वषट्कारः सर्वारम्भप्रवर्तकः । हन्तकारः स्वधाकारो हव्यकव्यान्नभुक् सदा

oṅkārastvaṁ vaṣaṭkāraḥ sarvārambhapravartakaḥ | hantakāraḥ svadhākāro havyakavyānnabhuk sadā

"You are the syllable Om, the exclamation Vashat, the initiator of every undertaking; you are the sound 'hanta', the offering 'svadha', the eternal partaker of oblations to gods and ancestors alike."

Verse 15 (shiva.rudra.61.15)

कृतः कथं यज्ञभङ्गस्त्वया धर्मपरायण । ब्रह्मण्यस्त्वं महादेव कथं यज्ञहनो विभो

kṛtaḥ kathaṁ yajñabhaṅgastvayā dharmaparāyaṇa | brahmaṇyastvaṁ mahādeva kathaṁ yajñahano vibho

"O upholder of dharma, how could the sacrifice have been broken by you? O Mahadeva, you who are so devoted to Brahmins — how, O all-pervading one, could you be the destroyer of a sacrifice?"

Verse 16 (shiva.rudra.61.16)

ब्राह्मणानां गवां चैव धर्मस्य प्रतिपालकः । शरण्योऽसि सदानन्त्यः सर्वेषां प्राणिनां प्रभो

brāhmaṇānāṁ gavāṁ caiva dharmasya pratipālakaḥ | śaraṇyo'si sadānantyaḥ sarveṣāṁ prāṇināṁ prabho

"You are the protector of Brahmins, of cattle, and of dharma; you are the refuge, eternal, the Lord of all living beings."

Verse 17 (shiva.rudra.61.17)

नमस्ते भगवन् रुद्र भास्करामिततेजसे । नमो भवाय देवाय रसायाम्बुमयाय ते

namaste bhagavan rudra bhāskarāmitatejase | namo bhavāya devāya rasāyāmbumayāya te

"Salutation to you, O Lord Rudra, of splendor immeasurable as the sun; salutation to you, god Bhava, whose very essence is water and taste."

Verse 18 (shiva.rudra.61.18)

शर्वाय क्षितिरूपाय सदा सुरभिणे नमः । रुद्रायाग्निस्वरूपाय महातेजस्विने नमः

śarvāya kṣitirūpāya sadā surabhiṇe namaḥ | rudrāyāgnisvarūpāya mahātejasvine namaḥ

"Salutation to Sharva, whose form is the earth, ever fragrant; salutation to Rudra, whose very nature is fire, of great splendor."

Verse 19 (shiva.rudra.61.19)

ईशाय वायवे तुभ्यं संस्पर्शाय नमो नमः । पशूनां पतये तुभ्यं यजमानाय वेधसे

īśāya vāyave tubhyaṁ saṁsparśāya namo namaḥ | paśūnāṁ pataye tubhyaṁ yajamānāya vedhase

"Salutation, salutation to you, Isha, who are the wind, the very sense of touch; to you, Lord of all creatures, to the sacrificer, the ordainer."

Verse 20 (shiva.rudra.61.20)

भीमाय व्योमरूपाय शब्दमात्राय ते नमः । महादेवाय सोमाय प्रवृत्ताय नमोऽस्तु ते

bhīmāya vyomarūpāya śabdamātrāya te namaḥ | mahādevāya somāya pravṛttāya namo'stu te

"Salutation to you, Bhima, whose form is the sky, the essence of sound; salutation be to you, Mahadeva, to Soma, to the one ever active in creation."

Verse 21 (shiva.rudra.61.21)

उग्राय सूर्यरूपाय नमस्ते कर्मयोगिने । नमस्ते कालकालाय नमस्ते रुद्रमन्यवे

ugrāya sūryarūpāya namaste karmayogine | namaste kālakālāya namaste rudramanyave

"Salutation to you, Ugra, whose form is the sun, master of the yoga of action; salutation to you, the very time of time itself; salutation to you, whose wrath is that of Rudra."

Verse 22 (shiva.rudra.61.22)

नमः शिवाय भीमाय शङ्कराय शिवाय ते । उग्रोऽसि सर्वभूतानां नियन्ता यच्छिवोऽसि नः

namaḥ śivāya bhīmāya śaṅkarāya śivāya te | ugro'si sarvabhūtānāṁ niyantā yacchivo'si naḥ

"Salutation to Shiva, to Bhima, to Shankara, salutation to you, Shiva. You are terrible to all beings as their controller, yet you are auspicious to us."

Verse 23 (shiva.rudra.61.23)

मयस्कराय विश्वाय ब्रह्मणे ह्यार्तिनाशिने । अम्बिकापतये तुभ्यमुमायाः पतये नमः

mayaskarāya viśvāya brahmaṇe hyārtināśine | ambikāpataye tubhyamumāyāḥ pataye namaḥ

"To the bringer of joy, to the universe itself, to Brahman, the destroyer of affliction; to you, the Lord of Ambika, salutation to the Lord of Uma."

Verse 24 (shiva.rudra.61.24)

शर्वाय सर्वरूपाय पुरुषाय परात्मने । सदसद्व्यक्तिहीनाय महतः कारणाय ते

śarvāya sarvarūpāya puruṣāya parātmane | sadasadvyaktihīnāya mahataḥ kāraṇāya te

"To Sharva, whose form is all things, to Purusha, the Supreme Self; to you who are beyond the manifestation of both being and non-being, the very cause of the great principle."

Verse 25 (shiva.rudra.61.25)

जाताय बहुधा लोके प्रभूताय नमो नमः । नीलाय नीलरुद्राय कद्रुद्राय प्रचेतसे

jātāya bahudhā loke prabhūtāya namo namaḥ | nīlāya nīlarudrāya kadrudrāya pracetase

"Salutation, salutation to you, born in many forms in this world, ever abundant; to the blue one, to Nila-Rudra, to Kad-Rudra, to the all-wise one."

Verse 26 (shiva.rudra.61.26)

मीढुष्टमाय देवाय शिपिविष्टाय ते नमः । महीयसे नमस्तुभ्यं हन्त्रे देवारिणां सदा

mīḍhuṣṭamāya devāya śipiviṣṭāya te namaḥ | mahīyase namastubhyaṁ hantre devāriṇāṁ sadā

"To the most bountiful god, salutation to you, Shipivishta; salutation to you, the greatest, the eternal slayer of the enemies of the gods."

Verse 27 (shiva.rudra.61.27)

ताराय च सुताराय तरुणाय सुतेजसे । हरिकेशाय देवाय महेशाय नमो नमः

tārāya ca sutārāya taruṇāya sutejase | harikeśāya devāya maheśāya namo namaḥ

"To Tara and to Sutara, to the ever-youthful one, of splendid radiance; salutation, salutation to Harikesha, to the god, to Mahesha."

Verse 28 (shiva.rudra.61.28)

देवानां शम्भवे तुभ्यं विभवे परमात्मने । परमाय नमस्तुभ्यं कालकण्ठाय ते नमः

devānāṁ śambhave tubhyaṁ vibhave paramātmane | paramāya namastubhyaṁ kālakaṇṭhāya te namaḥ

"To you, Shambhu of the gods, of boundless glory, the Supreme Self; salutation to you, the highest one; salutation to you, dark-throated one."

Verse 29 (shiva.rudra.61.29)

हिरण्याय परेशाय हिरण्यवपुषे नमः । भीमाय भीमरूपाय भीमकर्मरताय च

hiraṇyāya pareśāya hiraṇyavapuṣe namaḥ | bhīmāya bhīmarūpāya bhīmakarmaratāya ca

"Salutation to the golden one, the supreme Lord, of golden form; to the terrible one, of terrible form, devoted to terrible deeds."

Verse 30 (shiva.rudra.61.30)

भस्मदिग्धशरीराय रुद्राक्षाभरणाय च । नमो ह्रस्वाय दीर्घाय वामनाय नमोऽस्तु ते

bhasmadigdhaśarīrāya rudrākṣābharaṇāya ca | namo hrasvāya dīrghāya vāmanāya namo'stu te

"To the one whose body is smeared with ash, adorned with rudraksha beads; salutation to the short one, the tall one; salutation be to you, the dwarfish one."

Verse 31 (shiva.rudra.61.31)

दूरेवधाय ते देवाग्रेवधाय नमो नमः । धन्विने शूलिने तुभ्यं गदिने हलिने नमः

dūrevadhāya te devāgrevadhāya namo namaḥ | dhanvine śūline tubhyaṁ gadine haline namaḥ

"Salutation, salutation to you, O god, who slays from afar, who slays close at hand; salutation to you, the bow-bearer, trident-bearer, mace-bearer, plough-bearer."

Verse 32 (shiva.rudra.61.32)

नानायुधधरायैव दैत्यदानवनाशिने । सद्याय सद्यरूपाय सद्योजाताय वै नमः

nānāyudhadharāyaiva daityadānavanāśine | sadyāya sadyarūpāya sadyojātāya vai namaḥ

"To the bearer of manifold weapons, the destroyer of Daityas and Danavas; salutation indeed to Sadya, of ever-present form, to Sadyojata."

Verse 33 (shiva.rudra.61.33)

वामाय वामरूपाय वामनेत्राय ते नमः । अघोराय परेशाय विकटाय नमो नमः

vāmāya vāmarūpāya vāmanetrāya te namaḥ | aghorāya pareśāya vikaṭāya namo namaḥ

"Salutation to you, Vama, of gentle form, of gentle eyes; salutation, salutation to Aghora, the supreme Lord, the terrifying one."

Verse 34 (shiva.rudra.61.34)

तत्पुरुषाय नाथाय पुराणपुरुषाय च । पुरुषार्थप्रदानाय व्रतिने परमेष्ठिने

tatpuruṣāya nāthāya purāṇapuruṣāya ca | puruṣārthapradānāya vratine parameṣṭhine

"To Tatpurusha, the protector, the ancient Purusha; to the giver of the true aims of human life, to the one of sacred vows, to the one seated in the highest place."

Verse 35 (shiva.rudra.61.35)

ईशानाय नमस्तुभ्यमीश्वराय नमो नमः । ब्रह्मणे ब्रह्मरूपाय नमः साक्षात्परात्मने

īśānāya namastubhyamīśvarāya namo namaḥ | brahmaṇe brahmarūpāya namaḥ sākṣātparātmane

"Salutation to you, Ishana; salutation, salutation to Ishvara; to Brahman, of the very form of Brahman, salutation to the manifest Supreme Self."

Verse 36 (shiva.rudra.61.36)

उग्रोऽसि सर्वदुष्टानां नियन्तासि शिवोऽसि नः । कालकूटाशिने तुभ्यं देवाद्यवनकारिणे

ugro'si sarvaduṣṭānāṁ niyantāsi śivo'si naḥ | kālakūṭāśine tubhyaṁ devādyavanakāriṇe

"You are terrible to all the wicked, their controller, yet auspicious to us; to you who consumed the Kalakuta poison, the one who wards off harm from the gods and others."

Verse 37 (shiva.rudra.61.37)

वीराय वीरभद्राय रक्षद्वीराय शूलिने । महादेवाय महते पशूनां पतये नमः

vīrāya vīrabhadrāya rakṣadvīrāya śūline | mahādevāya mahate paśūnāṁ pataye namaḥ

"To the hero, to Virabhadra, the protector-hero, the trident-bearer; salutation to Mahadeva, to the great one, the Lord of all creatures."

Verse 38 (shiva.rudra.61.38)

वीरात्मने सुविद्याय श्रीकण्ठाय पिनाकिने । नमोऽनन्ताय सूक्ष्माय नमस्ते मृत्युमन्यवे

vīrātmane suvidyāya śrīkaṇṭhāya pinākine | namo'nantāya sūkṣmāya namaste mṛtyumanyave

"To the heroic soul, to true knowledge itself, to Shrikantha, wielder of the Pinaka bow; salutation to the infinite, the subtle one; salutation to you whose wrath is death itself."

Verse 39 (shiva.rudra.61.39)

पराय परमेशाय परात्परतराय ते । परात्पराय विभवे नमस्ते विश्वमूर्तये

parāya parameśāya parātparatarāya te | parātparāya vibhave namaste viśvamūrtaye

"To the supreme one, the supreme Lord, higher than the highest; salutation to you, higher than the highest, of boundless glory, of the form of the universe itself."

Verse 40 (shiva.rudra.61.40)

नमो विष्णुकलत्राय विष्णुक्षेत्राय भानवे । भैरवाय शरण्याय त्र्यम्बकाय विहारिणे

namo viṣṇukalatrāya viṣṇukṣetrāya bhānave | bhairavāya śaraṇyāya tryambakāya vihāriṇe

"Salutation to the one intimately joined with Vishnu, the field of Vishnu, the sun; to Bhairava, the refuge, the three-eyed one, the one at play."

Verse 41 (shiva.rudra.61.41)

मृत्युञ्जयाय शोकाय त्रिगुणाय गुणात्मने । चन्द्रसूर्याग्निनेत्राय सर्वकारणसेतवे

mṛtyuñjayāya śokāya triguṇāya guṇātmane | candrasūryāgninetrāya sarvakāraṇasetave

"To the conqueror of death, to sorrow itself, to the one possessed of the three gunas yet whose very self is the gunas; whose eyes are the moon, the sun, and fire; the very bridge and cause of all things."

Verse 42 (shiva.rudra.61.42)

भवता हि जगत्सर्वं व्याप्तं स्वेनैव तेजसा । परब्रह्म निर्विकारी चिदानन्दः प्रकाशवान्

bhavatā hi jagatsarvaṁ vyāptaṁ svenaiva tejasā | parabrahma nirvikārī cidānandaḥ prakāśavān

"By you indeed is this whole universe pervaded, by your own splendor alone — you, the Supreme Brahman, unchanging, consciousness and bliss itself, radiant."

Verse 43 (shiva.rudra.61.43)

ब्रह्मविष्ण्विन्द्रचन्द्रादिप्रमुखाःसकलाः सुराः । मुनयश्चापरे त्वत्तः सम्प्रसूता महेश्वर

brahmaviṣṇvindracandrādipramukhāḥsakalāḥ surāḥ | munayaścāpare tvattaḥ samprasūtā maheśvara

"Brahma, Vishnu, Indra, Chandra, and all the other gods, and the sages besides, have all sprung forth from you, O Maheshvara."

Verse 44 (shiva.rudra.61.44)

यतो बिभर्षि सकलं विभज्य तनुमष्टधा । अष्टमूर्तिरितीशश्च त्वमाद्यः करुणामयः

yato bibharṣi sakalaṁ vibhajya tanumaṣṭadhā | aṣṭamūrtiritīśaśca tvamādyaḥ karuṇāmayaḥ

"Since you sustain the entire universe, having divided your own body eightfold, you, the primordial one, full of compassion, are known as Ishana of the eight forms."

Verse 45 (shiva.rudra.61.45)

त्वद्भयाद्वाति वातोऽयं दहत्यग्निर्भयात्तव । सूर्यस्तपति ते भीत्या मृत्युर्धावति सर्वतः

tvadbhayādvāti vāto'yaṁ dahatyagnirbhayāttava | sūryastapati te bhītyā mṛtyurdhāvati sarvataḥ

"For fear of you this wind blows; for fear of you fire burns; from fear of you the sun gives forth its heat; and death runs everywhere, from fear of you."

Verse 46 (shiva.rudra.61.46)

दयासिन्धो महेशान प्रसीद परमेश्वर । रक्ष रक्ष सदैवास्मान् यस्मान्नष्टान् विचेतसः

dayāsindho maheśāna prasīda parameśvara | rakṣa rakṣa sadaivāsmān yasmānnaṣṭān vicetasaḥ

"O ocean of compassion, O Mahesha, be gracious, O Supreme Lord; protect us, protect us always, for we, our senses scattered, are as good as lost."

Verse 47 (shiva.rudra.61.47)

रक्षिताः सततं नाथ त्वयैव करुणानिधे । नानापद्भ्यो वयं शम्भो तथैवाद्य प्रपाहि नः

rakṣitāḥ satataṁ nātha tvayaiva karuṇānidhe | nānāpadbhyo vayaṁ śambho tathaivādya prapāhi naḥ

"We have always been protected, O Lord, by you alone, O treasury of compassion, from every manner of calamity; so too now, O Shambhu, save us again."

Verse 48 (shiva.rudra.61.48)

यज्ञस्योद्धरणं नाथ कुरु शीघ्रं प्रसादकृत् । असमाप्तस्य दुर्गेश दक्षस्य च प्रजापतेः

yajñasyoddharaṇaṁ nātha kuru śīghraṁ prasādakṛt | asamāptasya durgeśa dakṣasya ca prajāpateḥ

"O Lord, O bestower of grace, restore quickly the unfinished sacrifice of Daksha the Prajapati, O Lord of Durga."

Verse 49 (shiva.rudra.61.49)

भगोऽक्षिणी प्रपद्येत यजमानश्च जीवतु । पूष्णो दन्ताश्च रोहन्तु भृगोः श्मश्रूणि पूर्ववत्

bhago'kṣiṇī prapadyeta yajamānaśca jīvatu | pūṣṇo dantāśca rohantu bhṛgoḥ śmaśrūṇi pūrvavat

"Let Bhaga regain his two eyes, and let the sacrificer live again; let Pushan's teeth grow back, and let Bhrigu's beard be restored as before."

Verse 50 (shiva.rudra.61.50)

भवतानुगृहीतानां देवादीनां च सर्वशः । आरोग्यं भग्नगात्राणां शङ्कर त्वायुधाश्मभिः

bhavatānugṛhītānāṁ devādīnāṁ ca sarvaśaḥ | ārogyaṁ bhagnagātrāṇāṁ śaṅkara tvāyudhāśmabhiḥ

"O Shankara, by your grace, may health be restored in every way to the gods and the others, whose limbs were broken by weapons and by stones."

Verse 51 (shiva.rudra.61.51)

पूर्णभागोऽस्तु ते नाथावशिष्टेऽध्वरकर्मणि । रुद्रभागेन यज्ञस्ते कल्पितो नान्यथा क्वचित्

pūrṇabhāgo'stu te nāthāvaśiṣṭe'dhvarakarmaṇi | rudrabhāgena yajñaste kalpito nānyathā kvacit

"May your full portion, O Lord, be established in the remaining rite of the sacrifice; let the sacrifice be ordained only with the Rudra-portion given, and in no other way at all."

Verse 52 (shiva.rudra.61.52)

इत्युक्त्वा सप्रजेशश्च रमेशश्च कृताञ्जलिः । दण्डवत्पतितो भूमौ क्षमापयितुमुद्यतः

ityuktvā saprajeśaśca rameśaśca kṛtāñjaliḥ | daṇḍavatpatito bhūmau kṣamāpayitumudyataḥ

Having said this, both Prajesha and Rameshvara, with hands folded, fell prostrate like a staff upon the ground, ready to beg forgiveness.
