Verse 1 (shiva.rudra.69.1)

ब्रह्मोवाच अथ सस्मरतुर्भक्त्या दम्पती तौ भवाम्बिकाम् । प्रसूतिहेतवे तत्र देवकार्यार्थमादरात्

brahmovāca atha sasmaraturbhaktyā dampatī tau bhavāmbikām prasūtihetave tatra devakāryārthamādarāt

Brahma said: "Then that couple, with devotion, remembered Bhava's Mother there, respectfully, for the sake of the birth, for the purpose of the gods' work.

Verse 2 (shiva.rudra.69.2)

ततः सा चण्डिका योगात्त्यक्तदेहा पुरा पितुः । ईहया भवितुं भूयः समैच्छद् गिरिदारतः

tataḥ sā caṇḍikā yogāttyaktadehā purā pituḥ īhayā bhavituṁ bhūyaḥ samaicchad giridārataḥ

"Then Chandika, who through yoga had formerly given up her body at her father's sacrifice, with resolve desired once more to become manifest through the mountain's wife.

Verse 3 (shiva.rudra.69.3)

सत्यं विधातुं स्ववचः प्रसन्नाखिलकामदा । पूर्णांशाच्छैलचित्ते सा विवेशाथ महेश्वरी

satyaṁ vidhātuṁ svavacaḥ prasannākhilakāmadā pūrṇāṁśācchailacitte sā viveśātha maheśvarī

"To make her own word true, the goddess who grants all desires, gracious, entered, with her full portion, into the mind of the mountain's wife, that great Goddess.

Verse 4 (shiva.rudra.69.4)

विरराज ततः सोऽति प्रमदोऽपूर्वसुद्युतिः । हुताशन इवाधृष्यस्तेजोराशिर्महामनाः

virarāja tataḥ so'ti pramado'pūrvasudyutiḥ hutāśana ivādhṛṣyastejorāśirmahāmanāḥ

"Then that mass of splendor shone forth with great joy, of unprecedented radiance, unassailable like fire, of great and noble nature.

Verse 5 (shiva.rudra.69.5)

ततो गिरिः स्वप्रियायां परिपूर्णं शिवांशकम् । समाधिमत्वात्समये समधत्त सुशङ्करे

tato giriḥ svapriyāyāṁ paripūrṇaṁ śivāṁśakam samādhimatvātsamaye samadhatta suśaṅkare

"Then the mountain, in his beloved, at the fitting time, through his meditative union — for the sake of the gracious Shankara — placed the full portion of Shiva.

Verse 6 (shiva.rudra.69.6)

समधत्त गिरेः पत्नी गर्भं देव्याः प्रसादतः । चित्ते स्थितायाः करुणाकरायाः सुखदं गिरेः

samadhatta gireḥ patnī garbhaṁ devyāḥ prasādataḥ citte sthitāyāḥ karuṇākarāyāḥ sukhadaṁ gireḥ

"By the grace of the goddess who dwelt in her mind, the mountain's wife conceived the womb — a joy-giving one, granted by that ocean of compassion.

Verse 7 (shiva.rudra.69.7)

गिरिप्रिया सर्वजगन्निवासासंश्रयाधिकम् । विरेजे सुतरां मेना तेजोमण्डलगा सदा

giripriyā sarvajagannivāsāsaṁśrayādhikam vireje sutarāṁ menā tejomaṇḍalagā sadā

"The mountain's beloved, Mena, ever surrounded by a halo of light, shone forth exceedingly, as the greater refuge and abode of all the worlds.

Verse 8 (shiva.rudra.69.8)

सुखोदयं स्वभर्तुश्च मेना दौर्हृदलक्षणम् । दधौ निदानं देवानामानन्दस्येप्सितं शुभम्

sukhodayaṁ svabhartuśca menā daurhṛdalakṣaṇam dadhau nidānaṁ devānāmānandasyepsitaṁ śubham

"Mena bore the marks of pregnancy, the source of joy for her husband and the cause of the gods' desired, auspicious delight.

Verse 9 (shiva.rudra.69.9)

देहसादादसम्पूर्णभूषणा लोध्रसम्मुखा । स्वल्पभेन्दुक्षयेकासौ विचेष्यर्क्षा विभावरी

dehasādādasampūrṇabhūṣaṇā lodhrasammukhā svalpabhendukṣayekāsau viceṣyarkṣā vibhāvarī

"Her body wasted with weakness, her ornaments left incomplete, her face pale as the lodhra blossom — her radiance grew as faint as a moonlit night when the moon itself wanes.

Verse 10 (shiva.rudra.69.10)

तदाननं मृत्सुरभि नायं तृप्तिं गिरीश्वरः । मुने रहस्युपाघ्राय प्रेमाधिक्यं बभूव तत्

tadānanaṁ mṛtsurabhi nāyaṁ tṛptiṁ girīśvaraḥ mune rahasyupāghrāya premādhikyaṁ babhūva tat

"Her face, fragrant like sacred earth, the lord of mountains could never find satiety in; smelling it in private, O sage, his love only increased.

Verse 11 (shiva.rudra.69.11)

मेना स्पृहावती केषु न मे शंसति वस्तुषु । किञ्चिदिष्टं ह्रियापृच्छदनुवेलं सखीर्गिरिः

menā spṛhāvatī keṣu na me śaṁsati vastuṣu kiñcidiṣṭaṁ hriyāpṛcchadanuvelaṁ sakhīrgiriḥ

"'In what things does Mena have longing, that she does not tell me?' — thus, out of modesty, wondering if there was something she desired, the mountain would repeatedly ask her friends.

Verse 12 (shiva.rudra.69.12)

उपेत्य दौर्हृदं शैल्यं यद्वव्रेऽपश्यदाशु तत् । आनीतं नेष्टमस्याद्धा नासाध्यं त्रिदिवेऽपि हि

upetya daurhṛdaṁ śailyaṁ yadvavre'paśyadāśu tat ānītaṁ neṣṭamasyāddhā nāsādhyaṁ tridive'pi hi

"Whatever pregnancy-craving of the mountain's wife she asked for, he learned of it and swiftly brought it; there was nothing unwelcome to her, indeed nothing unattainable even in the heavens.

Verse 13 (shiva.rudra.69.13)

प्रचीयमानावयवा निस्तीर्य दौर्हृदव्यथाम् । रेजे मेना बाललता नद्धपत्राधिका यथा

pracīyamānāvayavā nistīrya daurhṛdavyathām reje menā bālalatā naddhapatrādhikā yathā

"Her limbs gradually filling out, having passed beyond the pains of pregnancy-craving, Mena shone forth like a young creeper covered abundantly in leaves.

Verse 14 (shiva.rudra.69.14)

गिरिः सगर्भां महिषीममंस्त धरणीमिव । निधानगर्भामभ्यन्तर्लीनवह्निशमीमिव

giriḥ sagarbhāṁ mahiṣīmamaṁsta dharaṇīmiva nidhānagarbhāmabhyantarlīnavahniśamīmiva

"The mountain regarded his pregnant queen as he would the earth itself, bearing a treasure within, like the shami tree that holds hidden fire within it.

Verse 15 (shiva.rudra.69.15)

प्रियाप्रीतेश्च मनसः स्वार्जितद्रविणस्य च । समुन्नतेः श्रुतेः प्राज्ञः क्रियाश्चक्रे यथोचिताः

priyāprīteśca manasaḥ svārjitadraviṇasya ca samunnateḥ śruteḥ prājñaḥ kriyāścakre yathocitāḥ

"For the joy of his beloved, for the contentment of his own mind, for the wealth he had earned, and for the elevation of Vedic learning, the wise one performed all rites as was fitting.

Verse 16 (shiva.rudra.69.16)

ददर्श काले मेनां स प्रतीतः प्रसवोन्मुखीम् । अभ्रितां च दिवं गर्भगृहे भिषगधिष्ठिते

dadarśa kāle menāṁ sa pratītaḥ prasavonmukhīm abhritāṁ ca divaṁ garbhagṛhe bhiṣagadhiṣṭhite

"In due time he, filled with expectation, saw Mena approaching her delivery, and prepared a cloudless, auspicious lying-in chamber attended by physicians.

Verse 17 (shiva.rudra.69.17)

दृष्ट्वा प्रियां शुभाङ्गीं वै मुमोदाति गिरीश्वरः । गर्भस्थजगदम्बां हि महातेजोवतीं तदा

dṛṣṭvā priyāṁ śubhāṅgīṁ vai mumodāti girīśvaraḥ garbhasthajagadambāṁ hi mahātejovatīṁ tadā

"Seeing his beloved of auspicious limbs, the lord of mountains rejoiced greatly, knowing that within her womb dwelt the Mother of the universe herself, possessed of great splendor.

Verse 18 (shiva.rudra.69.18)

तस्मिन्नवसरे देवा मुने विष्ण्वादयस्तथा । मुनयश्च समागम्य गर्भस्थां तुष्टुवुः शिवाम्

tasminnavasare devā mune viṣṇvādayastathā munayaśca samāgamya garbhasthāṁ tuṣṭuvuḥ śivām

"At that time, O sage, the gods beginning with Vishnu, and the sages too, came together and praised the auspicious one dwelling in the womb.

Verse 19 (shiva.rudra.69.19)

देवा ऊचुः दुर्गे जय जय प्राज्ञे जगदम्ब महेश्वरि । सत्यव्रते सत्यपरे त्रिसत्ये सत्यरूपिणी

devā ūcuḥ durge jaya jaya prājñe jagadamba maheśvari satyavrate satyapare trisatye satyarūpiṇī

The gods said: "O Durga, victory, victory to you, O wise one, Mother of the universe, Maheshvari; O you of true vows, devoted to truth, threefold in truth, whose very form is Truth.

Verse 20 (shiva.rudra.69.20)

सत्यस्थे सत्यसुप्रीते सत्ययोने च सत्यतः । सत्यवक्त्रे सत्यनेत्रे प्रपन्नाः शरणं च ते

satyasthe satyasuprīte satyayone ca satyataḥ satyavaktre satyanetre prapannāḥ śaraṇaṁ ca te

"O you established in truth, delighting truly in truth, whose very womb is truth; whose face is truth, whose eyes are truth — we have taken refuge and come for shelter to you.

Verse 21 (shiva.rudra.69.21)

शिवप्रिये महेशानि देवदुःखक्षयङ्करि । त्रैलोक्यमाता शर्वाणी व्यापिनी भक्तवत्सला

śivapriye maheśāni devaduḥkhakṣayaṅkari trailokyamātā śarvāṇī vyāpinī bhaktavatsalā

"O beloved of Shiva, great Goddess, destroyer of the gods' sorrow; Mother of the three worlds, Sharvani, all-pervading, affectionate to your devotees.

Verse 22 (shiva.rudra.69.22)

आविर्भूय त्रिलोकेशि देवकार्यं कुरुष्व ह । सनाथाः कृपया ते हि वयं सर्वे महेश्वरि

āvirbhūya trilokeśi devakāryaṁ kuruṣva ha sanāthāḥ kṛpayā te hi vayaṁ sarve maheśvari

"O Mistress of the three worlds, become manifest and accomplish the work of the gods; by your grace, O great Goddess, all of us have a protector indeed.

Verse 23 (shiva.rudra.69.23)

त्वत्तः सर्वे च सुखिनो लभन्ते सुखमुत्तमम् । त्वां विना न हि किञ्चिद्वै शोभते त्रिभवेष्वपि

tvattaḥ sarve ca sukhino labhante sukhamuttamam tvāṁ vinā na hi kiñcidvai śobhate tribhaveṣvapi

"From you all obtain the highest happiness; without you, indeed, nothing at all shines forth, even in the three worlds."

Verse 24 (shiva.rudra.69.24)

ब्रह्मोवाच इत्थं कृत्वा महेशान्या गर्भस्थाया बहुस्तुतिम् । प्रसन्नमनसो देवाः स्वं स्वं धाम ययुस्तदा

brahmovāca itthaṁ kṛtvā maheśānyā garbhasthāyā bahustutim prasannamanaso devāḥ svaṁ svaṁ dhāma yayustadā

Brahma said: "Having thus offered abundant praise to the great Goddess dwelling in the womb, the gods, their minds gracious, then departed each to his own abode.

Verse 25 (shiva.rudra.69.25)

व्यतीते नवमे मासे दशमे मासि पूर्णतः । गर्भस्था सा गतिं दध्रे कालिका जगदम्बिका

vyatīte navame māse daśame māsi pūrṇataḥ garbhasthā sā gatiṁ dadhre kālikā jagadambikā

"When the ninth month had passed, and the tenth month had come to fullness, that Kalika, the Mother of the universe, dwelling in the womb, made ready to come forth.

Verse 26 (shiva.rudra.69.26)

तदा सुसमयश्चासीच्छान्तभग्रहतारकः । नभः प्रसन्नतां यातं प्रकाशः सर्वदिक्षु हि

tadā susamayaścāsīcchāntabhagrahatārakaḥ nabhaḥ prasannatāṁ yātaṁ prakāśaḥ sarvadikṣu hi

"Then it became a most auspicious moment, the planets and stars grown tranquil; the sky turned clear, and there was light in every direction.

Verse 27 (shiva.rudra.69.27)

मही मङ्गलभूयिष्ठा सवनग्रामसागरा । सरःस्रवन्तीवापीषु पुफुल्लुः पङ्कजानि वै

mahī maṅgalabhūyiṣṭhā savanagrāmasāgarā saraḥsravantīvāpīṣu puphulluḥ paṅkajāni vai

"The earth, with its forests, villages and seas, became filled with auspiciousness; in the lakes, rivers, and ponds the lotuses bloomed forth.

Verse 28 (shiva.rudra.69.28)

ववुश्च विविधा वाताः सुखस्पर्शा मुनीश्वर । मुमुदुः साधवः सर्वेऽसतां दुःखमभूद् द्रुतम्

vavuśca vividhā vātāḥ sukhasparśā munīśvara mumuduḥ sādhavaḥ sarve'satāṁ duḥkhamabhūd drutam

"Manifold winds blew, delightful to the touch, O lord of sages; all the virtuous rejoiced, while sorrow swiftly came upon the wicked.

Verse 29 (shiva.rudra.69.29)

दुन्दुभीन्वादयामासुर्नभस्यागत्य निर्जराः । पुष्पवृष्टिरभूत्तत्र जगुर्गन्धर्वसत्तमाः

dundubhīnvādayāmāsurnabhasyāgatya nirjarāḥ puṣpavṛṣṭirabhūttatra jagurgandharvasattamāḥ

"The immortals, coming into the sky, sounded their kettledrums; a shower of flowers fell there, and the finest gandharvas sang.

Verse 30 (shiva.rudra.69.30)

विद्याधरस्त्रियो व्योम्नि ननृतुश्चाप्सरास्तथा । तदोत्सवो महानासीद्देवादीनां नभःस्थले

vidyādharastriyo vyomni nanṛtuścāpsarāstathā tadotsavo mahānāsīddevādīnāṁ nabhaḥsthale

"The Vidyadhara women danced in the sky, and the Apsaras too; then a great festival arose for the gods and others in the expanse of the sky.

Verse 31 (shiva.rudra.69.31)

तस्मिन्नवसरे देवी पूर्वशक्तिः शिवा सती । आविर्बभूव पुरतो मेनाया निजरूपतः

tasminnavasare devī pūrvaśaktiḥ śivā satī āvirbabhūva purato menāyā nijarūpataḥ

"At that moment, the goddess, the primeval Shakti, the auspicious Sati, appeared before Mena in her own true form.

Verse 32 (shiva.rudra.69.32)

वसन्तर्तौ मधौ मासे नवम्यां मृगधिष्ण्यके । अर्धरात्रे समुत्पन्ना गङ्गेव शशिमण्डलात्

vasantartau madhau māse navamyāṁ mṛgadhiṣṇyake ardharātre samutpannā gaṅgeva śaśimaṇḍalāt

"In the season of spring, in the month of Madhu, on the ninth tithi, under the lunar mansion Mrigashira, at midnight, she was born, like the Ganga from the orb of the moon.

Verse 33 (shiva.rudra.69.33)

समये तत्स्वरूपेण मेनकाजठराच्छिवा । समुद्धूय समुत्पन्ना सा लक्ष्मीरिव सागरात्

samaye tatsvarūpeṇa menakājaṭharācchivā samuddhūya samutpannā sā lakṣmīriva sāgarāt

"At the appointed time, in that very form, the auspicious one arose and was born from Mena's womb, like Lakshmi rising from the ocean.

Verse 34 (shiva.rudra.69.34)

ततस्तस्यां तु जातायां प्रसन्नोऽभूत्तदा भवः । अनुकूलो ववौ वायुर्गम्भीरो गन्धयुक् शुभः

tatastasyāṁ tu jātāyāṁ prasanno'bhūttadā bhavaḥ anukūlo vavau vāyurgambhīro gandhayuk śubhaḥ

"Then, when she was born, Bhava became gracious at that moment; a favorable wind blew, deep, fragrant, and auspicious.

Verse 35 (shiva.rudra.69.35)

बभूव पुष्पवृष्टिश्च तोयवृष्टिपुरस्सरम् । जज्वलुश्चाग्नयः शान्ता जगर्जुश्च तदा घनाः

babhūva puṣpavṛṣṭiśca toyavṛṣṭipurassaram jajvaluścāgnayaḥ śāntā jagarjuśca tadā ghanāḥ

"There was a shower of flowers, preceded by a shower of rain; the fires, though calm, blazed up, and the clouds thundered then.

Verse 36 (shiva.rudra.69.36)

तस्यां तु जायमानायां सर्वस्वं समपद्यत । हिमवन्नगरे तत्र सर्वं दुःखं क्षयं गतम्

tasyāṁ tu jāyamānāyāṁ sarvasvaṁ samapadyata himavannagare tatra sarvaṁ duḥkhaṁ kṣayaṁ gatam

"As she was being born, all good fortune came to pass; there in Himavat's city, all sorrow went to its destruction.

Verse 37 (shiva.rudra.69.37)

तस्मिन्नवसरे तत्र विष्ण्वाद्याः सकलाः सुराः । आजग्मुः सुखिनः प्रीत्या ददृशुर्जगदम्बिकाम्

tasminnavasare tatra viṣṇvādyāḥ sakalāḥ surāḥ ājagmuḥ sukhinaḥ prītyā dadṛśurjagadambikām

"At that time, all the gods beginning with Vishnu came there, joyful and full of love, and beheld the Mother of the universe.

Verse 38 (shiva.rudra.69.38)

तुष्टुवुस्तां शिवामम्बां कालिकां शिवकामिनीम् । दिव्यरूपां महामायां शिवलोकनिवासिनीम्

tuṣṭuvustāṁ śivāmambāṁ kālikāṁ śivakāminīm divyarūpāṁ mahāmāyāṁ śivalokanivāsinīm

"They praised her, the auspicious Mother Kalika, the beloved of Shiva, of divine form, the great Maya, dweller in Shiva's realm."

Verse 39 (shiva.rudra.69.39)

। देवा ऊचुः जगदम्ब महादेवि सर्वसिद्धिविधायिनि । देवकार्यकरी त्वं हि सदातस्त्वां नमामहे

devā ūcuḥ jagadamba mahādevi sarvasiddhividhāyini devakāryakarī tvaṁ hi sadātastvāṁ namāmahe

The gods said: "O Mother of the universe, great goddess, bestower of all accomplishment; you indeed are the doer of the gods' work — therefore we bow to you always.

Verse 40 (shiva.rudra.69.40)

सर्वथा कुरु कल्याणं देवानां भक्तवत्सले । मेनामनोरथः पूर्णः कृतः कुरु हरस्य च

sarvathā kuru kalyāṇaṁ devānāṁ bhaktavatsale menāmanorathaḥ pūrṇaḥ kṛtaḥ kuru harasya ca

"O affectionate one to your devotees, in every way work the welfare of the gods; you have fulfilled Mena's heart's desire — now fulfil that of Hara too."

Verse 41 (shiva.rudra.69.41)

ब्रह्मोवाच इत्थं स्तुत्वा शिवां देवा विष्ण्वाद्याः सुप्रणम्य ताम् । स्वं स्वं धाम ययुः प्रीताः शंसन्तस्तद्गतिं पराम्

brahmovāca itthaṁ stutvā śivāṁ devā viṣṇvādyāḥ supraṇamya tām svaṁ svaṁ dhāma yayuḥ prītāḥ śaṁsantastadgatiṁ parām

Brahma said: "Thus, having praised the auspicious one, the gods beginning with Vishnu, bowing well to her, departed, delighted, each to his own abode, extolling her supreme destiny.

Verse 42 (shiva.rudra.69.42)

तां तु दृष्ट्वा तथा जातां नीलोत्पलदलप्रभाम । श्यामां सा मेनका देवीं मुदमायाति नारद

tāṁ tu dṛṣṭvā tathā jātāṁ nīlotpaladalaprabhāma śyāmāṁ sā menakā devīṁ mudamāyāti nārada

"Seeing that goddess thus born, of the hue of a blue-lotus petal, dark-complexioned, Mena, O Narada, was filled with joy.

Verse 43 (shiva.rudra.69.43)

दिव्यरूपं विलोक्यानु ज्ञानमाप गिरिप्रिया । विज्ञाय परमेशानीं तुष्टावातिप्रहर्षिता

divyarūpaṁ vilokyānu jñānamāpa giripriyā vijñāya parameśānīṁ tuṣṭāvātipraharṣitā

"Beholding that divine form, the mountain's beloved gained understanding; knowing her to be the Supreme Goddess, filled with great joy, she praised her.

Verse 44 (shiva.rudra.69.44)

मेनोवाच जगदम्ब महेशानि कृतातिकरुणा त्वया । आविर्भूता मम पुरो विलसन्ती यदम्बिके

menovāca jagadamba maheśāni kṛtātikaruṇā tvayā āvirbhūtā mama puro vilasantī yadambike

Mena said: "O Mother of the universe, great Goddess, you have shown me the greatest compassion, in that you, O Mother, have appeared before me, radiant.

Verse 45 (shiva.rudra.69.45)

त्वमाद्या सर्वशक्तीनां त्रिलोकजननी शिवे । शिवप्रिया सदा देवि सर्वदेवस्तुता परा

tvamādyā sarvaśaktīnāṁ trilokajananī śive śivapriyā sadā devi sarvadevastutā parā

"You are the primeval one among all powers, the mother of the three worlds, O auspicious one; ever the beloved of Shiva, O goddess, supreme, praised by all the gods.

Verse 46 (shiva.rudra.69.46)

कृपां कुरु महेशानि मम ध्यानस्थिता भव । एतद्रूपेण प्रत्यक्षं रूपं धेहि सुतासमम्

kṛpāṁ kuru maheśāni mama dhyānasthitā bhava etadrūpeṇa pratyakṣaṁ rūpaṁ dhehi sutāsamam

"Show mercy, great Goddess; abide in my meditation; in this form, assume before me the visible form of my very own daughter."

Verse 47 (shiva.rudra.69.47)

ब्रह्मोवाच इत्याकर्ण्य वचस्तस्या मेनाया भूधरस्त्रियाः । प्रत्युवाच शिवा देवी सुप्रसन्ना गिरिप्रियाम्

brahmovāca ityākarṇya vacastasyā menāyā bhūdharastriyāḥ pratyuvāca śivā devī suprasannā giripriyām

Brahma said: "Hearing the words of Mena, the mountain's wife, the auspicious goddess, greatly gracious, replied to the mountain's beloved.

Verse 48 (shiva.rudra.69.48)

देव्युवाच हे मेने त्वं पुरा मां च सुसेवितवती रता । त्वद्भक्त्या सुप्रसन्नाहं वरं दातुं गतान्तिकम्

devyuvāca he mene tvaṁ purā māṁ ca susevitavatī ratā tvadbhaktyā suprasannāhaṁ varaṁ dātuṁ gatāntikam

The goddess said: "O Mena, formerly you served me devotedly and with love; pleased by your devotion, I came near to you to grant you a boon.

Verse 49 (shiva.rudra.69.49)

वरं ब्रूहीति मद्वाणीं श्रुत्वा ते तद्वरो वृतः । सुता भव महादेवि सा मे देवहितं कुरु

varaṁ brūhīti madvāṇīṁ śrutvā te tadvaro vṛtaḥ sutā bhava mahādevi sā me devahitaṁ kuru

"Hearing my word, 'ask a boon,' you chose that boon: 'become my daughter, great Goddess, and accomplish the gods' welfare for me.'"

Verse 50 (shiva.rudra.69.50)

तथा दत्त्वा वरं तेऽहं गता स्वं पदमादरात् । समयं प्राप्य तनयाभवं ते गिरिकामिनि

tathā dattvā varaṁ te'haṁ gatā svaṁ padamādarāt samayaṁ prāpya tanayābhavaṁ te girikāmini

"Having thus granted you that boon, I departed reverently to my own abode; and now, the time having come, O beloved of the mountain, I have become your daughter.

Verse 51 (shiva.rudra.69.51)

दिव्यरूपं धृतं मेऽद्य यत्ते मत्स्मरणं भवेत् । अन्यथा मर्त्यभावेन तवाज्ञानं भवेन्मयि

divyarūpaṁ dhṛtaṁ me'dya yatte matsmaraṇaṁ bhavet anyathā martyabhāvena tavājñānaṁ bhavenmayi

"I have assumed this divine form today, so that you might remember me; otherwise, through the nature of a mortal, ignorance of me would arise in you.

Verse 52 (shiva.rudra.69.52)

युवां मां पुत्रिभावेन दिव्यभावेन वासकृत् । चिन्तयन्तौ कृतस्नेहौ यातास्थो मद्गतिं पराम्

yuvāṁ māṁ putribhāvena divyabhāvena vāsakṛt cintayantau kṛtasnehau yātāstho madgatiṁ parām

"You two, thinking of me in the manner of a daughter and yet dwelling in a divine understanding, bound by love, have attained my own supreme state.

Verse 53 (shiva.rudra.69.53)

देवकार्यं करिष्यामि लीलां कृत्वाद्भुतां क्षितौ । शम्भुपत्नी भविष्यामि तारयिष्यामि सज्जनान्

devakāryaṁ kariṣyāmi līlāṁ kṛtvādbhutāṁ kṣitau śambhupatnī bhaviṣyāmi tārayiṣyāmi sajjanān

"I shall accomplish the work of the gods, enacting a wondrous play upon the earth; I shall become Shambhu's wife, and I shall deliver the virtuous."

Verse 54 (shiva.rudra.69.54)

ब्रह्मोवाच । इत्युक्त्वासीच्छिवा तूष्णीमम्बिका स्वात्ममायया । पश्यन्त्यां मातरि प्रीत्या सद्योऽभूत्तनयातनुः

brahmovāca ityuktvāsīcchivā tūṣṇīmambikā svātmamāyayā paśyantyāṁ mātari prītyā sadyo'bhūttanayātanuḥ

Brahma said: "Having said this, the auspicious Mother fell silent, by her own Maya; and even as her mother lovingly looked on, she at once became again the tiny form of an infant daughter."
