Hearing from your lotus-mouth these various nectar-like stories, our minds are never satiated, O Suta, knower of all things.
Verse 3 (shiva.uma.50.3)

There was neither charity, nor severe austerity, nor sacrifice, nor oblation; thereupon a hundred-year drought befell the earth.

samadhuḥ kaiṭabho daityo mahiṣāsura eva ca tathaivāmuṁ kṛpāsindho dīnabandho jahi drutam
and the demon Madhu with Kaitabha, and Mahishasura too — so also, O ocean of compassion, O friend of the helpless, swiftly slay this one.
Verse 13 (shiva.uma.50.13)

She distributed the fruits held in her hand to the gods, delightful grasses to the cows, and to others according to what was fitting for each.
Verse 21 (shiva.uma.50.21)

tataḥ pramuditā devāḥ svaṁ svaṁ dhāma samāyayuḥ supraṇamya jagadyoniṁ phullendīvaralocanām
Then the gods, greatly delighted, having duly bowed to her, the source of the world, whose eyes were like blossoming blue lotuses, returned each to his own abode.
Verse 25 (shiva.uma.50.25)

Verse 40 (shiva.uma.50.40)

devyuvāca vatsāndṛṣṭvā yathā gāvo vyagrā dhāvanti satvaram tathaiva bhavato dṛṣṭvā dhāvāmi vyākulā satī
The goddess said: Just as cows, seeing their calves, run swiftly in eager haste, so, seeing you, I run to you deeply moved.

Verse 44 (shiva.uma.50.44)

You devotees need have no worry at all, so long as I, who destroy your calamities, remain present with you.
Verse 45 (shiva.uma.50.45)
yathā pūrvaṁ hatā daityā haniṣyāmi tathā'surān saṁśayo nātra karttavyaḥ satyaṁ satyaṁ bravīmyaham
As the demons were slain before, so shall I slay the asuras again; no doubt should be entertained in this — I speak the truth, the truth.
Verse 46 (shiva.uma.50.46)
yadā śumbho niśumbhaścāparau daityau bhaviṣyataḥ tadāhaṁ nandabhāryāyāṁ yaśodāyāṁ yaśomayī
When there shall be two other demons named Shumbha and Nishumbha, then I, full of glory, from the womb of Yashoda, wife of Nanda —
Verse 47 (shiva.uma.50.47)
yonijaṁ rūpamāsthāya janiṣye gopagokule haniṣyāmyasurau tanmāṁ vyāhariṣyanti nandajām
shall take a womb-born form and be born in the cowherd settlement; I shall slay those two demons, and they shall call me the daughter of Nanda.
Verse 48 (shiva.uma.50.48)

kṛtvā bhīmaṁ punā rūpaṁ rakṣāṁsyatsyāmyahaṁ yadā bhīmā devīti vikhyātaṁ tanme nāma bhaviṣyati
When, again assuming a terrible form, I shall devour the rakshasas, then my name shall become famed as the goddess Bhima.
Verse 50 (shiva.uma.50.50)
yadā yadāsurotthaivaṁ bādhā bhuvi bhaviṣyati tadā tadāvatīryāhaṁ śaṁ kariṣyāmyasaṁśayam
Whenever such affliction arising from demons occurs on earth, then, without doubt, I shall descend and bring about well-being.
Verse 51 (shiva.uma.50.51)
yā śatākṣī smṛtā devī saiva śākambharī matā saiva prakīrtitā durgā vyaktirekaiva triṣvapi
She who is remembered as the goddess Shatakshi is the same as the one held to be Shakambhari, the same proclaimed as Durga — it is a single manifestation in all three.
Verse 52 (shiva.uma.50.52)
na śatākṣīsamā kāciddayālurbhuvi devatā dṛṣṭvārudatprajāstaptā yā navāhaṁ maheśvarī
There is no deity on earth as compassionate as Shatakshi, the great Goddess who wept for nine days on seeing the suffering people.
