Ishvara said: Now I shall next explain the daily observances of the renunciant, O great goddess, out of love for you and in keeping with tradition.

Verse 2 (shiva.kailasa.4.2)

ब्राह्मे मुहूर्त्त उत्थाय शिरसि श्वेतपंकजे । सहस्रारे समासीनं गुरुं संचितयेद्यतिः

Rising at the Brahma-muhurta, the ascetic should meditate upon the guru, seated within the white lotus at the crown of the head, in the Sahasrara.

Verse 3 (shiva.kailasa.4.3)

(the guru who is) bright like pure crystal, two-eyed, showing the gestures of boon-giving and protection, holding within himself the true and enchanting nature of Shiva —

Verse 4 (shiva.kailasa.4.4)

भावोपनीतैः संपूज्य गन्धादिभिरनुक्रमात् । बद्धांजलिपुटो भूत्वा नमस्कुर्याद्गुरुं ततः

Having informed the guru and received his permission, then, seated with the breath restrained, self-mastered and with senses subdued,

Verse 7 (shiva.kailasa.4.7)

he should contemplate the six chakras from the Muladhara up to the Brahmarandhra, blazing like ten million bolts of lightning, wholly composed of supreme radiance.

Verse 8 (shiva.kailasa.4.8)

tanmadhye ciṁtayenmāṁ ca saccidānandavigraham nirguṇaṁ paramaṁ brahma sadāśivamanāmayam

In its midst, he should meditate upon Me, whose form is being, consciousness, and bliss — the qualityless Supreme Brahman, Sadashiva, free from all ailment.

Verse 9 (shiva.kailasa.4.9)

Remembering the guru and Myself, he should perform the bath, the twilight rites, and the rest; for fear of excessive length, this is not detailed here — it is to be found elsewhere.

आबध्य शंखमुद्रां च प्रणवेनाभिषेचयेत् । शिरसि द्वादशावृत्त्या तदर्धं वा तदर्धकम्
