and in the gentle north, Saṅkarṣaṇa thereafter; or he may worship these two in reversed order too; this is the first enclosure declared — now the auspicious second enclosure —

Matsya, Kūrma, Varāha, and Narasiṃha, then Vāmana; Rāma, and another form, Kṛṣṇa, and the Lord with the horse-face too —
Verse 59 (shiva.vayaviya.65.59)
tṛtīyāvaraṇe cakraṃ pūrvabhāge samarcayet | nārāyaṇākhyāṃ yāmye'straṃ kvacidavyāhataṃ yajet
in the third enclosure he should worship the discus in the eastern quarter; the weapon called Nārāyaṇa in the south, and in some places the unobstructed weapon too, he should worship —
Verse 60 (shiva.vayaviya.65.60)

the conch Pāñcajanya in the west, and the bow Śārṅga in the north; thus, together with these three enclosures, the Supreme Hari, called Viśva —
Verse 61 (shiva.vayaviya.65.61)
mahāviṣṇuṃ sadāviṣṇuṃ mūrttīkṛtya samarcayet | itthaṃ viṣṇoścaturvyūhakramānmūrticatuṣṭayam | pūjayitvā ca tacchaktīścatasraḥ pujayetkramāt
embodied as Mahāviṣṇu, Sadāviṣṇu, he should worship. Thus, having worshipped the four forms in the order of Viṣṇu's four-fold emanation, he should worship their four Śaktis too, in due order.
Verse 62 (shiva.vayaviya.65.62)

evaṃ bhānvādimūrttīnāṃ tacchaktīnāmanantaram | pūjāṃ vidhāya lokeśāṃstatraivāvaraṇe yajet
Having thus completed the worship of Bhānu and the other forms, and thereafter their Śaktis as well, he should worship the world-guardians in that same enclosure —
Verse 64 (shiva.vayaviya.65.64)
indramagniṃ yamaṃ caiva nirṛtiṃ varuṇaṃ tathā | vāyuṃ somaṃ kuberaṃ ca paścādīśānamarcayet
Indra, Agni, Yama, and Nirṛti, Varuṇa; Vāyu, Soma, Kubera, and thereafter Īśāna, he should worship.
Verse 65 (shiva.vayaviya.65.65)

evaṃ caturthāvaraṇaṃ pūjayitvā vidhānataḥ | āyudhāni maheśasya paścād brāhye samarcayet
Having thus duly worshipped the fourth enclosure, he should thereafter worship, in the outer enclosure, the weapons of Maheśa.
Verse 66 (shiva.vayaviya.65.66)
śrīmat triśūlamaiśāne vajraṃ māhendradiṅmukhe | paraśuṃ vahnidigbhāge yāmye sāyakamarcayet
The glorious trident in the northeast, the thunderbolt in Indra's quarter, the east; the axe in the southeast quarter, and the arrow in the south, he should worship.
Verse 67 (shiva.vayaviya.65.67)

In the southwest he should worship the sword, in the western, Varuṇa's, quarter, the noose; in the northwest quarter, the goad, and in the north, the Pināka bow, he should worship.
Verse 68 (shiva.vayaviya.65.68)
paścimābhimukhaṃ raudraṃ kṣetrapālaṃ samarcayet | pañcamāvaraṇaṃ caiva sampūjyānantaraṃ bahiḥ
He should worship Kṣetrapāla, of Rudra's nature, facing westward; and thereafter the fifth enclosure too is to be duly worshipped, outside.
Verse 69 (shiva.vayaviya.65.69)
sarvāvaraṇadevānāṃ bahirvā pañcame'thavā | pañcame mātṛbhiḥ sārddhaṃ mahokṣaṃ purato yajet
He may worship all the enclosure-deities either outside, or in the fifth enclosure itself; in the fifth enclosure, together with the Mātṛkās, he should worship Mahokṣa, the great bull, in front.
Verse 70 (shiva.vayaviya.65.70)
tataḥ samantataḥ pūjyāḥ sarvā vai devayonayaḥ | khecarā ṛṣayaḥ siddhā daityā yakṣāśca rākṣasāḥ
Thereafter, all around, all the divine species are to be worshipped — the sky-wanderers, sages, siddhas, daityas, yakṣas, and rākṣasas —
Verse 71 (shiva.vayaviya.65.71)
anantādyāśca nāgendrā nāgaistattatkulodbhavaiḥ | ḍākinī bhūtavetālapretabhairavanāyakāḥ
Ananta and the other serpent-lords, together with the serpents born in their respective clans; the ḍākinīs, bhūtas, vetālas, pretas, and the leaders of the Bhairavas —
Verse 72 (shiva.vayaviya.65.72)
pātālavāsinaścānye nānāyonisamudbhavāḥ | nadyaḥ samudrā girayaḥ kānanāni sarāṃsi ca
the other dwellers in the netherworld, born from manifold wombs; the rivers, oceans, mountains, forests, and lakes —
Verse 73 (shiva.vayaviya.65.73)
paśavaḥ pakṣiṇo vṛkṣāḥ kīṭādyāḥ kṣudrayonayaḥ | narāśca vividhākārā mṛgāśca kṣudrayonayaḥ
the beasts, birds, trees, insects and the other lowly species; men of manifold forms, and deer, and the other lowly species —
Verse 74 (shiva.vayaviya.65.74)
bhuvanānyantaraṇḍasya tato brahmāṇḍakoṭayaḥ | bahiraṇḍānyasaṅkhyāni bhuvanāni sahādhipaiḥ
the worlds within this cosmic Egg, and then the millions of other cosmic Eggs; the countless worlds outside these Eggs, together with their lords —
Verse 75 (shiva.vayaviya.65.75)
brahmāṇḍādhārakā rudrā daśadikṣu vyavasthitāḥ | yadgauṇaṃ yacca māmeyaṃ yadvā śāktaṃ tataḥ param
the Rudras who uphold the cosmic Egg, stationed in the ten directions; whatever is secondary, whatever is measured as belonging to Me, or whatever pertains to Śakti, and whatever lies beyond that —
Verse 76 (shiva.vayaviya.65.76)
yatkiñcidasti śabdasya vācyaṃ cidacidātmakam | tatsarvaṃ śivayoḥ pārśve buddhvā sāmānyato yajet
whatever object is nameable by any word at all, whether conscious or unconscious in nature — all of this he should worship, understanding it to stand beside Śiva and Śivā.
Verse 77 (shiva.vayaviya.65.77)
kṛtāñjalipuṭāḥ sarve'cintyāḥ smitamukhāstathā | prītyā samprekṣamāṇāśca devaṃ devīṃ ca sarvadā
He should meditate on all of them with joined palms, inconceivable in nature, smiling-faced, ever gazing with affection upon the god and the goddess.
Verse 78 (shiva.vayaviya.65.78)
itthamāvaraṇābhyarcāṃ kṛtvā vikṣepaśāntaye | punarabhyarcya deveśaṃ pañcākṣaramudīrayet
Having thus performed the worship of the enclosures, for the pacification of mental distraction, he should worship the Lord of gods once more and utter the five-syllabled mantra.
Verse 79 (shiva.vayaviya.65.79)
nivedayettataḥ paścācchivayoramṛtopamam | suvyañjanasamāyuktaṃ śuddhaṃ cāru mahācarum
Thereafter he should offer to Śiva and Śivā a great oblation of cooked rice, like ambrosia, joined with fine seasonings, pure and beautiful.
Verse 80 (shiva.vayaviya.65.80)
dvātriṃśadāḍhakairmukhyamadhamaṃ tvāḍhakāvaram | sādhayitvā yathāsampacchraddhayā vinivedayet
At its best, of thirty-two āḍhakas' measure; at its least, even of one āḍhaka; having prepared it according to his means, he should offer it with faith.
Verse 81 (shiva.vayaviya.65.81)
tato nivedya pānīyaṃ tāmbūlaṃ copadaṃśakaiḥ | nīrājanādikaṃ kṛtvā pūjāśeṣaṃ samāpayet
Then, having offered water, and betel with its accompaniments, and having performed the nīrājana and the rest, he should complete the remaining part of the worship.
Verse 82 (shiva.vayaviya.65.82)
bhogopayogyadravyāṇi viśiṣṭānyeva sādhayet | vittaśāṭhyaṃ na kurvīta bhaktimānvibhave sati
He should prepare only the finest substances fit for enjoyment; when wealth is available, the devoted man should not be niggardly with his riches.
Verse 83 (shiva.vayaviya.65.83)
śaṭhasyopekṣakasyāpi vyaṅgaṃ caivānutiṣṭhataḥ | na phalantyeva karmāṇi kāmyānīti satāṃ kathā
For the miserly, for the negligent, and even for one who performs the rite defectively — kāmya rites do not bear fruit; so is the teaching of the wise.
Verse 84 (shiva.vayaviya.65.84)
tasmātsamyagupekṣāṃ ca tyaktvā sarvāṅgayogataḥ | kuryātkāmyāni karmāṇi phalasiddhiṃ yadīcchati
Therefore, having abandoned all negligence entirely, and performing it with every one of its parts complete, one should perform the kāmya rites, if he desires the accomplishment of the fruit.
Verse 85 (shiva.vayaviya.65.85)
itthaṃ pūjāṃ samāpyātha devaṃ devīṃ praṇamya ca | bhaktyā manaḥ samādhāya paścātstotramudīrayet
Having thus completed the worship, and then having bowed to the god and the goddess, having settled his mind with devotion, he should thereafter recite the hymn of praise.
Verse 86 (shiva.vayaviya.65.86)
tataḥ stotramupāsyānte tvaṣṭottaraśatāvarām | japetpañcākṣarīṃ vidyāṃ sahasrottaramutsukaḥ
Then, at the end of the recitation of the hymn, one hundred and eight times; and with eagerness, he should recite the five-syllabled Vidyā a thousand times.
Verse 87 (shiva.vayaviya.65.87)
vidyāpūjāṃ guroḥ pūjāṃ kṛtvā paścādyathākramam | yathodayaṃ yathāśraddhaṃ sadasyānapi pūjayet
Having performed the worship of the Vidyā and the worship of the guru, thereafter, in due order, he should also worship the assembled members, according to his means and according to his faith.
Verse 88 (shiva.vayaviya.65.88)
tata udvāsya deveśaṃ sarvairāvaraṇaiḥ saha | maṇḍalaṃ gurave dadyādyāgopakaraṇaiḥ saha
Thereafter, having dismissed the Lord of gods together with all the enclosures, he should give the maṇḍala, together with the ritual implements, to the guru.
Verse 89 (shiva.vayaviya.65.89)
śivāśritebhyo vā dadyātsarvamevānupūrvaśaḥ | athavā tacchivāyaiva śivakṣetre samarpayet
Or he may give all of it, in due order, to those who take refuge in Śiva; or he may offer it to Śiva himself, in a Śaiva sacred place.
Verse 90 (shiva.vayaviya.65.90)
śivāgnau vā yajeddevaṃ homadravyaiśca saptabhiḥ | samabhyarcya yathānyāyaṃ sarvāvaraṇadevatāḥ
Or he may worship the god in the fire of Śiva with seven fire-offering substances; having duly worshipped, according to rule, all the enclosure-deities —
Verse 91 (shiva.vayaviya.65.91)
eṣa yogeśvaro nāma triṣu lokeṣu viśrutaḥ | na tasmādadhikaḥ kaścidyāgo'sti bhuvane kvacit
this rite is renowned in the three worlds by the name Yogeśvara; there is no other rite anywhere in the universe greater than this.
Verse 92 (shiva.vayaviya.65.92)
na tadasti jagatyasminnasādhyaṃ yadanena tu | aihikaṃ vā phalaṃ kiñcidāmuṣmikaphalaṃ tu vā
There is nothing whatsoever in this world that is unattainable through this rite — whether the fruit be of this world or of the next —
Verse 93 (shiva.vayaviya.65.93)
idamasya phalaṃ nedamiti naiva niyamyate | śreyorūpasya kṛtsnasya tadidaṃ śreṣṭasādhanam
'this is its fruit, this is not' — no such restriction applies; this is the very best means to the whole of what constitutes true good.
Verse 94 (shiva.vayaviya.65.94)
idaṃ na śakyate vaktuṃ puruṣeṇa yadarcyate | cintāmaṇerivaitasmāttattena prāpyate phalam
That which is worshipped here cannot be described by a mere man; like a wish-fulfilling gem, through this rite that fruit is obtained.
Verse 95 (shiva.vayaviya.65.95)
tathāpi kṣudramuddiśya phalaṃ naitatprayojayet | laghvarthī mahato yasmātsvayaṃ laghutaro bhavet
Even so, one should not employ it for the sake of some trivial end; for one who desires a small thing, even with a great means, himself remains small.
Verse 96 (shiva.vayaviya.65.96)
mahadvā phalamalpaṃ vā kṛtaṃ cetkarma sidhyati | mahādevaṃ samuddiśya kṛtaṃ karma prayujyatām
Whether the fruit be great or small, if the rite is in any case to bear fruit, then let the rite performed be one aimed at Mahādeva himself.
Verse 97 (shiva.vayaviya.65.97)
tasmādananyalabhyeṣu śatrumṛtyuñjayādiṣu | phaleṣu dṛṣṭādṛṣṭeṣu kuryyādetadvicakṣaṇaḥ
Therefore, for ends such as victory over an enemy or over death, which cannot be obtained by any other means — for fruits both seen and unseen — the wise man should employ this rite.
Verse 98 (shiva.vayaviya.65.98)
mahatsvapi ca pāpeṣu mahārogabhayādiṣu | durbhikṣādiṣu śāntyarthaṃ śāntiṃ kuryyādanena tu
In great sins too, in great disease and fear and the like, and in famine and the like as well, for the sake of peace, one should perform the rite of pacification through this very rite.
Verse 99 (shiva.vayaviya.65.99)
bahunā kiṃ pralāpena mahāvyāpannivārakam | ātmīyamastraṃ śaivānāmidamāha maheśvaraḥ
What use is there in much talk? This is the Śaivas' own weapon, declared by Maheśvara himself, the averter of great calamities.
Verse 100 (shiva.vayaviya.65.100)
tasmāditaḥ paraṃ nāsti paritrāṇamihātmanaḥ | iti matvā prayuñjānaḥ karmedaṃ śubhamaśnute
Therefore, there is no other protection for the soul in this world greater than this; understanding thus, one who applies this rite obtains what is auspicious.
Verse 101 (shiva.vayaviya.65.101)
stotramātraṃ śucirbhūtvā yaḥ paṭhetsusamāhitaḥ | so'pyabhīṣṭatamādarthādaṣṭāṃśaphalamāpnuyāt
Even he who recites only the hymn, having become pure and with focused mind, obtains an eighth part of the fruit of the most desired end.
Verse 102 (shiva.vayaviya.65.102)
arthaṃ tasyānusandhāya parvaṇyanaśanaḥ paṭhet | aṣṭāmyāṃ vā caturdaśyāṃ phalamarddhaṃ samāpnuyāt
Having fixed his purpose upon it, he should recite it fasting on a parva day; reciting it on the eighth or fourteenth day, he obtains half the fruit.
Verse 103 (shiva.vayaviya.65.103)
yastvarthamanusandhāya parvādiṣu tathā vratī | māsamekaṃ japetstotraṃ sa kṛtsnaṃ phalamāpnuyāt
But whoever, having fixed his purpose, and observing a vow on the parva and other days, recites the hymn continuously for one full month, obtains the entire fruit.
