Verse 1 (skanda.5.130.1)

श्रीमहादेव उवाच। एकोनषष्टिकं विद्धि देवं सिद्धेश्वरं प्रिये। यस्य दर्शनमात्रेण सिद्धिः पुंसां प्रजायते॥

śrīmahādeva uvāca| ekonaṣaṣṭikaṁ viddhi devaṁ siddheśvaraṁ priye| yasya darśanamātreṇa siddhiḥ puṁsāṁ prajāyate||

Shri Mahadeva said: "Know, O dear one, the fifty-ninth deity, Siddheshvara, by the mere sight of whom accomplishment is born for men."

Verse 2 (skanda.5.130.2)

आसीदश्वशिरानाम राजा परमधार्मिकः। सोऽश्वमेधेन यज्ञेन इष्ट्वा सबहुदक्षिणम्॥

āsīdaśvaśirānāma rājā paramadhārmikaḥ| so'śvamedhena yajñena iṣṭvā sabahudakṣiṇam||

"There was a king named Ashvashira, supremely righteous; he, having performed the ashvamedha sacrifice with abundant sacrificial fees -"

Verse 3 (skanda.5.130.3)

स्नातश्चावभृथे हृष्टो ब्राह्मणैः परिवारितः। यावदास्ते स राजर्षिस्तावत्सिद्धोऽतिदीप्तिमान्॥

snātaścāvabhṛthe hṛṣṭo brāhmaṇaiḥ parivāritaḥ| yāvadāste sa rājarṣistāvatsiddho'tidīptimān||

"- having bathed in the avabhritha, joyful, surrounded by brahmins - while that royal sage was seated there, an exceedingly radiant siddha arrived -"

Verse 4 (skanda.5.130.4)

नानौषधिप्रभावज्ञो मंत्रतंत्र विशारदः। आययौ कपिलः श्रीमान्जैगीषव्यश्च सिद्धराट्॥

nānauṣadhiprabhāvajño maṁtrataṁtra viśāradaḥ| āyayau kapilaḥ śrīmānjaigīṣavyaśca siddharāṭ||

"- knower of the powers of many herbs, skilled in mantra and tantra: the glorious Kapila came, and Jaigishavya, king of siddhas."

Verse 5 (skanda.5.130.5)

तयोस्त्वरितमुत्थाय स राजाभ्यागतक्रियाम्। चकार परया युक्तो मुदा वै पृथि वीपतिः॥

tayostvaritamutthāya sa rājābhyāgatakriyām| cakāra parayā yukto mudā vai pṛthi vīpatiḥ||

"Rising up quickly for the two of them, that lord of the earth performed the rites due to guests, filled with the greatest joy."

Verse 6 (skanda.5.130.6)

तावर्चितावासनस्थौ क्षमाशीलौ शुचिव्रतौ। महौजसौ महाभागौ मुमुक्षू मुनिपुंगवौ॥

tāvarcitāvāsanasthau kṣamāśīlau śucivratau| mahaujasau mahābhāgau mumukṣū munipuṁgavau||

"Those two, seated upon honored seats, of forbearing nature, pure in their vows, of great might, greatly fortunate, desirous of liberation, bulls among sages -"

Verse 7 (skanda.5.130.7)

विद्याविनयसंपन्नौ ब्रह्मचर्यपरायणौ। अनेकसृष्टिसंहारस्थितिकार्यपरायणौ॥

vidyāvinayasaṁpannau brahmacaryaparāyaṇau| anekasṛṣṭisaṁhārasthitikāryaparāyaṇau||

"- endowed with learning and humility, devoted to celibacy, intent upon the manifold works of creation, dissolution, and preservation -"

Verse 8 (skanda.5.130.8)

उदयादित्यसंकाशौ विभावसुसमद्युती। तेजोराशिसमायुक्तौ दुर्निरीक्ष्यौ पृथग्जनैः॥

udayādityasaṁkāśau vibhāvasusamadyutī| tejorāśisamāyuktau durnirīkṣyau pṛthagjanaiḥ||

"- resembling the rising sun, radiant as fire, endowed with a mass of splendor, hard to look upon for common folk -"

Verse 9 (skanda.5.130.9)

विनयेनोपसंगम्य प्रणिपत्याभिवाद्य च। स राजा प्रांजलिर्भूत्वा प्रश्नमेनमपृच्छत॥

vinayenopasaṁgamya praṇipatyābhivādya ca| sa rājā prāṁjalirbhūtvā praśnamenamapṛcchata||

"- approaching them with humility, prostrating and saluting them, that king, with joined palms, asked them this question:"

Verse 10 (skanda.5.130.10)

अश्वशिरा उवाच। श्रुतं मया मुनिश्रेष्ठौ नान्यो देवो जनार्द्दनात्। ध्यातोथ पूजितो नॄणां मुक्तिदो भवबंधनात्॥

aśvaśirā uvāca| śrutaṁ mayā muniśreṣṭhau nānyo devo janārddanāt| dhyātotha pūjito nṝṇāṁ muktido bhavabaṁdhanāt||

Ashvashira said: "I have heard, O best of sages, that there is no god other than Janardana, who, when meditated upon and worshipped, grants men liberation from the bondage of existence."

Verse 11 (skanda.5.130.11)

संस्मृते तु हृषीकेशे नराणां कोटिजन्मजम्। अशुभं क्षयमाप्नोति कथं न प्रणमेद्धरिम्॥

saṁsmṛte tu hṛṣīkeśe narāṇāṁ koṭijanmajam| aśubhaṁ kṣayamāpnoti kathaṁ na praṇameddharim||

"When Hrishikesha is remembered, the inauspicious karma born of men's countless births is destroyed - how could one not bow down to Hari?"

Verse 12 (skanda.5.130.12)

समाराध्य जगन्नाथं शक्राद्यास्त्रिदिवौकसः। वसंति मुदिताः स्वर्गे दिव्यद्युतिसमन्विताः॥

samārādhya jagannāthaṁ śakrādyāstridivaukasaḥ| vasaṁti muditāḥ svarge divyadyutisamanvitāḥ||

"Having worshipped the Lord of the universe, Indra and the other dwellers of the triple heaven live joyfully in heaven, endowed with divine radiance."

Verse 13 (skanda.5.130.13)

जन्ममृत्युजरा रोगैर्दुःखानि विविधानि च। प्रयांति विलयं सद्यः प्रसन्ने गरुडध्वजे॥

janmamṛtyujarā rogairduḥkhāni vividhāni ca| prayāṁti vilayaṁ sadyaḥ prasanne garuḍadhvaje||

"Manifold sorrows born of birth, death, old age and disease dissolve at once when the Garuda-bannered one is pleased."

Verse 14 (skanda.5.130.14)

इति पृष्टस्तदा तेन प्रार्थितेन यशस्विना। ऊचतुस्तं नृपं सिद्धौ सिद्धिविज्ञानकोविदौ॥

iti pṛṣṭastadā tena prārthitena yaśasvinā| ūcatustaṁ nṛpaṁ siddhau siddhivijñānakovidau||

"Thus questioned by that glorious king, and entreated, the two siddhas, versed in the science of accomplishment, said to him:"

Verse 15 (skanda.5.130.15)

क एष प्रोच्यते राजंस्त्वया नारायणोऽधुना। आवां नारायणौ द्वौ तु त्वत्प्रत्यक्षं गतौ नृप॥

ka eṣa procyate rājaṁstvayā nārāyaṇo'dhunā| āvāṁ nārāyaṇau dvau tu tvatpratyakṣaṁ gatau nṛpa||

"'Who is this whom you now speak of as Narayana, O king? We two are indeed both Narayana, standing here before your very eyes, O king.'"

Verse 16 (skanda.5.130.16)

अश्वशिरा उवाच। भवंतौ ब्राह्मणौ सिद्धौ तपसा दग्धकिल्विषौ। युवां नारायणौ कस्मादिति वाक्यमुवाच सः॥

aśvaśirā uvāca| bhavaṁtau brāhmaṇau siddhau tapasā dagdhakilviṣau| yuvāṁ nārāyaṇau kasmāditi vākyamuvāca saḥ||

Ashvashira said: "You two are brahmin siddhas, your sins burnt away by austerity - how can you both be Narayana?" Thus he spoke.

Verse 17 (skanda.5.130.17)

शंखचक्रगदापाणिः पीतवासा जनार्द्दनः। गरुडस्थो हृषीकेशः कस्तस्य सदृशो भुवि॥

śaṁkhacakragadāpāṇiḥ pītavāsā janārddanaḥ| garuḍastho hṛṣīkeśaḥ kastasya sadṛśo bhuvi||

"Janardana, with conch, discus and mace in hand, clad in yellow, Hrishikesha mounted on Garuda - who on earth resembles him?"

Verse 18 (skanda.5.130.18)

तस्य राज्ञो वचः श्रुत्वा संसिद्धौ योगकोविदौ। दर्शयामासतुस्तौ हि कृत्वा नारायणं वपुः॥

tasya rājño vacaḥ śrutvā saṁsiddhau yogakovidau| darśayāmāsatustau hi kṛtvā nārāyaṇaṁ vapuḥ||

"Hearing the king's words, those two, perfected and versed in yoga, then showed themselves, assuming the form of Narayana."

Verse 19 (skanda.5.130.19)

कपिलो मंत्रमाहात्म्यात्स्वयं विष्णुर्बभूव ह। शंखचक्रगदापाणिः पीतवासाश्च तत्क्षणात्॥

kapilo maṁtramāhātmyātsvayaṁ viṣṇurbabhūva ha| śaṁkhacakragadāpāṇiḥ pītavāsāśca tatkṣaṇāt||

"By the power of mantra, Kapila himself instantly became Vishnu - with conch, discus and mace in hand, clad in yellow."

Verse 20 (skanda.5.130.20)

जैगीषव्यश्च गरुडस्तत्क्षणात्समजायत। ततः समभवत्तत्र राजवेश्मनि कौतुकम्॥

jaigīṣavyaśca garuḍastatkṣaṇātsamajāyata| tataḥ samabhavattatra rājaveśmani kautukam||

"And Jaigishavya instantly became Garuda; then a great wonder arose there in the king's palace."

Verse 21 (skanda.5.130.21)

दृष्ट्वा नारायणं देवं गरुडस्थं सनातनम्। आश्चर्यं तादृशं दृष्ट्वा स राजा विस्मयान्वितः। उवाच क्षाम्यतां सिद्धौ नायं विष्णुरथेदृशः॥

dṛṣṭvā nārāyaṇaṁ devaṁ garuḍasthaṁ sanātanam| āścaryaṁ tādṛśaṁ dṛṣṭvā sa rājā vismayānvitaḥ| uvāca kṣāmyatāṁ siddhau nāyaṁ viṣṇurathedṛśaḥ||

"Seeing the eternal god Narayana mounted on Garuda, beholding such a wonder, that king, filled with astonishment, said: 'Forgive me, O siddhas - but is this then not the very form of Vishnu?'"

Verse 22 (skanda.5.130.22)

तस्य ब्रह्मा समुत्पन्नो नाभिपंकजमध्यतः। तस्मात्तु ब्रह्मणो रुद्रः स विष्णुः परमेश्वरः॥

tasya brahmā samutpanno nābhipaṁkajamadhyataḥ| tasmāttu brahmaṇo rudraḥ sa viṣṇuḥ parameśvaraḥ||

"'From the lotus of his navel Brahma arose, and from that Brahma, Rudra - he is Vishnu, the supreme lord.'"

Verse 23 (skanda.5.130.23)

इति राज्ञो वचः श्रुत्वा तदा तौ सिद्धसत्तमौ। चक्रतुः परमां मायां योगाचार्यौ सुमांत्रिकौ॥

iti rājño vacaḥ śrutvā tadā tau siddhasattamau| cakratuḥ paramāṁ māyāṁ yogācāryau sumāṁtrikau||

"Hearing the king's words, those two best of siddhas, masters of yoga and skilled in mantra, then wrought a supreme display of maya -"

Verse 24 (skanda.5.130.24)

कपिलः पद्मनाभस्तु पद्ममध्ये प्रजापतिः। बभूव स्वयमेवात्र सहसा योगतस्तदा॥

kapilaḥ padmanābhastu padmamadhye prajāpatiḥ| babhūva svayamevātra sahasā yogatastadā||

"- Kapila, becoming Padmanabha, and Prajapati amid the lotus, himself instantly became so, by the power of yoga."

Verse 25 (skanda.5.130.25)

जैगीषव्योऽथ रुद्रस्तु तस्यैवांके व्यवस्थितः। ददर्श महदाश्चर्यं स राजा योगमोहितः॥

jaigīṣavyo'tha rudrastu tasyaivāṁke vyavasthitaḥ| dadarśa mahadāścaryaṁ sa rājā yogamohitaḥ||

"And Jaigishavya, as Rudra, stationed himself upon that very lap; the king, bewildered by this display of yoga, beheld a great wonder."

Verse 26 (skanda.5.130.26)

कौतुकात्प्रत्युवाचेदं भीतः कंपितकन्धरः। नेत्थं भवति विश्वेशो माया योगिनां तदा। सर्वरूपी हरिः श्रीमान्सर्वगः सर्वदः स्मृतः॥

kautukātpratyuvācedaṁ bhītaḥ kaṁpitakandharaḥ| netthaṁ bhavati viśveśo māyā yogināṁ tadā| sarvarūpī hariḥ śrīmānsarvagaḥ sarvadaḥ smṛtaḥ||

"Out of astonishment, frightened, his neck trembling, he replied thus: 'It is not so that the Lord of the universe becomes manifest - this is but the maya of yogis; Hari, the glorious one, is remembered as all-formed, all-pervading, and the giver of all.'"

Verse 27 (skanda.5.130.27)

ततो वाक्यावसाने तु तस्य राज्ञश्च संसदि। मशका मत्कुणा यूका भ्रमराः पक्षिणो मृगाः॥

tato vākyāvasāne tu tasya rājñaśca saṁsadi| maśakā matkuṇā yūkā bhramarāḥ pakṣiṇo mṛgāḥ||

"Then, at the end of that speech, O daughter of the mountain, in the king's assembly, gnats, bed-bugs, lice, bees, birds, deer -"

Verse 28 (skanda.5.130.28)

अश्वा गावो हयाः सिंहा व्याघ्रा गोमहिषास्तथा। अन्येपि पशवः कीटा ग्राम्यारण्याश्च सर्वशः॥

aśvā gāvo hayāḥ siṁhā vyāghrā gomahiṣāstathā| anyepi paśavaḥ kīṭā grāmyāraṇyāśca sarvaśaḥ||

"- horses, cows, steeds, lions, tigers, cattle and buffaloes, and other beasts and insects, domestic and wild, of every kind -"

Verse 29 (skanda.5.130.29)

दृश्यंते राजभवने कोटिशः पर्वतात्मजे। तं दृष्ट्वा भूतसंघातं राजा विस्मितमानसः॥

dṛśyaṁte rājabhavane koṭiśaḥ parvatātmaje| taṁ dṛṣṭvā bhūtasaṁghātaṁ rājā vismitamānasaḥ||

"- were seen by the millions in the king's palace. Beholding that host of creatures, the king, his mind filled with astonishment -"

Verse 30 (skanda.5.130.30)

यावच्चिंतयते किं स्यात्तावज्ज्ञातं नृपेण हि। जैगीषव्यस्य माहात्म्यं कपिलस्य महात्मनः॥

yāvacciṁtayate kiṁ syāttāvajjñātaṁ nṛpeṇa hi| jaigīṣavyasya māhātmyaṁ kapilasya mahātmanaḥ||

"- as he pondered what this could be, the king came to know the greatness of Jaigishavya and of the great soul Kapila."

Verse 31 (skanda.5.130.31)

कृतांजलिपुटो भूत्वा स राजाऽश्वशिरास्तदा। पप्रच्छ च द्विजौ भक्त्या किमिदं सिद्धसत्तमौ॥

kṛtāṁjalipuṭo bhūtvā sa rājā'śvaśirāstadā| papraccha ca dvijau bhaktyā kimidaṁ siddhasattamau||

"Then, with joined palms, King Ashvashira devotedly asked the two brahmins: 'What is this, O best of siddhas?"

Verse 32 (skanda.5.130.32)

सामर्थ्यमीदृशं लब्धं कस्माद्वै तपसो बलात्। अद्य मे सफलोत्पत्तिरद्य मे सफलं श्रुतम्॥

sāmarthyamīdṛśaṁ labdhaṁ kasmādvai tapaso balāt| adya me saphalotpattiradya me saphalaṁ śrutam||

"'By what power of austerity have you obtained such capability? Today my birth is made fruitful, today what I have heard is made fruitful."

Verse 33 (skanda.5.130.33)

सफला मे मनोवृत्तिर्युवयोर्दर्शनेन वै। तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा कपिलो वाक्यमब्रवीत्॥

saphalā me manovṛttiryuvayordarśanena vai| tasya tadvacanaṁ śrutvā kapilo vākyamabravīt||

"'Fruitful indeed is the inclination of my mind, through the sight of you two.' Hearing his words, Kapila spoke:"

Verse 34 (skanda.5.130.34)

महाकालवने राजन्विद्यते लिंगमुत्तमम्। ख्यातं सिद्धेश्वरं नाम्ना सिद्धैरभ्यर्चितं सदा॥

mahākālavane rājanvidyate liṁgamuttamam| khyātaṁ siddheśvaraṁ nāmnā siddhairabhyarcitaṁ sadā||

"'O king, in Mahakalavana there exists a supreme linga, renowned by the name Siddheshvara, ever worshipped by the siddhas."

Verse 35 (skanda.5.130.35)

सौभाग्येश्वरपूर्वे तु सौभाग्यारोग्यदायकम्। प्रभावात्तस्य लिंगस्य प्राप्ता सिद्धिरनुत्तमा॥

saubhāgyeśvarapūrve tu saubhāgyārogyadāyakam| prabhāvāttasya liṁgasya prāptā siddhiranuttamā||

"'It stands to the east of Saubhagyeshvara, granting good fortune and health; by the power of that linga supreme accomplishment is attained."

Verse 36 (skanda.5.130.36)

जैगीषव्येन सिद्धेन मया वैं नृपसत्तम। तस्माद्व्रज महाबाहो महाकालवनं शुभम्॥

jaigīṣavyena siddhena mayā vaiṁ nṛpasattama| tasmādvraja mahābāho mahākālavanaṁ śubham||

"'By it Jaigishavya and I too, O best of kings, attained our own accomplishment. Therefore go, O mighty-armed one, to the auspicious Mahakalavana."

Verse 37 (skanda.5.130.37)

तत्र द्रक्ष्यसि सर्वेशं शंखचक्रगदाधरम। लिंगमूर्त्तौ स्थितं विष्णुं यस्ते सिद्धिं प्रदास्यति॥

tatra drakṣyasi sarveśaṁ śaṁkhacakragadādharama| liṁgamūrttau sthitaṁ viṣṇuṁ yaste siddhiṁ pradāsyati||

"'There you shall see the lord of all, bearer of conch, discus and mace, Vishnu abiding in the form of the linga, who shall grant you accomplishment."

Verse 38 (skanda.5.130.38)

संसिद्धा बहवस्तत्र सनकाद्या नरेश्वर। तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा कपिलस्य महात्मनः॥

saṁsiddhā bahavastatra sanakādyā nareśvara| tasya tadvacanaṁ śrutvā kapilasya mahātmanaḥ||

"'Many, headed by Sanaka, have attained perfection there, O lord of men.' Hearing these words of the great soul Kapila -"

Verse 39 (skanda.5.130.39)

जगाम सहसा तत्र स राजाश्वशिरास्तदा। ददर्श चैव तौ सिद्धौ सिद्धेश्वरसमीपतः॥

jagāma sahasā tatra sa rājāśvaśirāstadā| dadarśa caiva tau siddhau siddheśvarasamīpataḥ||

"- King Ashvashira went there at once; and he beheld those two siddhas near Siddheshvara -"

Verse 40 (skanda.5.130.40)

अन्ये च बहवः सिद्धाः सिद्धनाथास्तथा परे। ज्ञात्वा सिद्धेश्वरं देवं सिद्धसंघैः समर्चितम्॥

anye ca bahavaḥ siddhāḥ siddhanāthāstathā pare| jñātvā siddheśvaraṁ devaṁ siddhasaṁghaiḥ samarcitam||

"- and many other siddhas, and other lords of siddhas besides, knowing the god Siddheshvara, worshipped by the hosts of siddhas -"

Verse 41 (skanda.5.130.41)

लिंगमध्ये स्थित विष्णुं ज्ञात्वा स नृपसत्तमः। पूजयामास भावेन परमेण समाधिना॥

liṁgamadhye sthita viṣṇuṁ jñātvā sa nṛpasattamaḥ| pūjayāmāsa bhāvena parameṇa samādhinā||

"- knowing Vishnu to be present within the linga, that best of kings worshipped it with devotion, in supreme concentration."

Verse 42 (skanda.5.130.42)

ततस्तुष्टोऽब्रवीद्देवो वरं वरय सुव्रत। यत्तेभिलषितं सर्वमहं दास्यामि भूपते॥

tatastuṣṭo'bravīddevo varaṁ varaya suvrata| yattebhilaṣitaṁ sarvamahaṁ dāsyāmi bhūpate||

"Then the pleased god said: 'Choose a boon, O virtuous one; whatever you desire, O king, I shall grant it all.'"

Verse 43 (skanda.5.130.43)

लिंगस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा नृपेणोक्तं च तच्छृणु। यदि मेऽस्ति दया देव प्रसन्नोऽसि हि चेत्प्रभो॥

liṁgasya vacanaṁ śrutvā nṛpeṇoktaṁ ca tacchṛṇu| yadi me'sti dayā deva prasanno'si hi cetprabho||

"Hearing the linga's words, the king spoke, and hear what he said: 'If you have compassion for me, O god, and if indeed you are pleased, O lord -"

Verse 44 (skanda.5.130.44)

यत्ते रूपं परं नाथ तद्दर्शय ममाच्युत। एतदेव हि मे देव सदाभिलषितं हृदि॥

yatte rūpaṁ paraṁ nātha taddarśaya mamācyuta| etadeva hi me deva sadābhilaṣitaṁ hṛdi||

"- then show me, O Achyuta, your supreme form, O lord. This alone, O god, has ever been desired in my heart."

Verse 45 (skanda.5.130.45)

आजन्मनो जगन्नाथ कदा द्रक्ष्ये जनार्द्दनम्। एतदिच्छाम्यहं देव वराणां प्रवरं वरम्। दीयमानं त्वयाभीष्टं ख्यातं सिद्धेश्वरं क्षितौ॥

ājanmano jagannātha kadā drakṣye janārddanam| etadicchāmyahaṁ deva varāṇāṁ pravaraṁ varam| dīyamānaṁ tvayābhīṣṭaṁ khyātaṁ siddheśvaraṁ kṣitau||

"'Since my birth, O lord of the universe, when shall I behold Janardana? This I desire, O god, as the choicest of boons, freely granted by you, O Siddheshvara renowned upon the earth.'"

Verse 46 (skanda.5.130.46)

नृपस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा लिंगेनोक्तं वरानने। न मे विदुर्देवगणा नासुरा न महर्षयः॥

nṛpasya vacanaṁ śrutvā liṁgenoktaṁ varānane| na me vidurdevagaṇā nāsurā na maharṣayaḥ||

"Hearing the king's words, O fair one, the linga said: 'Neither the hosts of gods, nor the asuras, nor the great sages know -"

Verse 47 (skanda.5.130.47)

परं रूपं नृपश्रेष्ठ कृष्णोऽहं लिंगतां गतः। ममलोकं तु ये प्राप्ता मुनयो मंत्रभूषिताः॥

paraṁ rūpaṁ nṛpaśreṣṭha kṛṣṇo'haṁ liṁgatāṁ gataḥ| mamalokaṁ tu ye prāptā munayo maṁtrabhūṣitāḥ||

"- my supreme form, O best of kings; I, Krishna, have taken the form of a linga. Those sages, adorned with mantras, who have attained my world -"

Verse 48 (skanda.5.130.48)

न चैते मां विजानंति परमार्थेन पार्थिव। यदेतद्दृश्यते तेजो लिंगरूपेण मामकम्॥

na caite māṁ vijānaṁti paramārthena pārthiva| yadetaddṛśyate tejo liṁgarūpeṇa māmakam||

"- even they, O king, do not know me in truth. What is seen here is my own splendor in the form of a linga."

एतदेव हि ब्रह्माद्या ध्यायन्ति त्रिदशास्त्वमी। अतो न मे परं रूपं द्रष्टुं कश्चित्क्षमो भवेत्॥

etadeva hi brahmādyā dhyāyanti tridaśāstvamī| ato na me paraṁ rūpaṁ draṣṭuṁ kaścitkṣamo bhavet||

"'Even this alone do Brahma and the other gods meditate upon; therefore no one is capable of beholding my supreme form."

Verse 50 (skanda.5.130.50)

अनेकजन्मसंशुद्धा योगिनो मदनुग्रहात्। प्रविशंति तनौ मह्यं मुक्ताः संसारबंधनैः॥

anekajanmasaṁśuddhā yogino madanugrahāt| praviśaṁti tanau mahyaṁ muktāḥ saṁsārabaṁdhanaiḥ||

"Yogis, purified through many births, by my grace, freed from the bonds of samsara, enter into my very body."

Verse 51 (skanda.5.130.51)

एवं हि बुवतस्तस्य सिद्धिः प्राप्ता नृपेण हि। विष्णुरूपं समास्थाय तस्मिँल्लिंगे लयं गतः॥

evaṁ hi buvatastasya siddhiḥ prāptā nṛpeṇa hi| viṣṇurūpaṁ samāsthāya tasmi~lliṁge layaṁ gataḥ||

"While he was thus speaking, the king attained accomplishment; assuming the form of Vishnu, he became merged into that linga."

Verse 52 (skanda.5.130.52)

अतो देवि सुविख्यातं लिंगं सिद्धेश्वरं परम्। ये पश्यंति नरा भक्त्या तेषां सिद्धिश्च शाश्वती॥

ato devi suvikhyātaṁ liṁgaṁ siddheśvaraṁ param| ye paśyaṁti narā bhaktyā teṣāṁ siddhiśca śāśvatī||

"Therefore, O Devi, that supreme linga Siddheshvara is well-renowned; those men who behold it with devotion attain everlasting accomplishment."

Verse 53 (skanda.5.130.53)

अंजनं पादलेपं च पादुकासिद्धिरेव च। गुटिका खड्गसिद्धिश्च महासिद्धिः सुदुर्लभा॥

aṁjanaṁ pādalepaṁ ca pādukāsiddhireva ca| guṭikā khaḍgasiddhiśca mahāsiddhiḥ sudurlabhā||

"The magic ointment, the foot-anointment, the accomplishment of the magic sandals, the pill, the accomplishment of the sword, and the great accomplishment so hard to attain -"

Verse 54 (skanda.5.130.54)

दिव्यौषधैश्च या सिद्धिर्मंत्रस्पर्शोद्भवा च या। एतास्तु सिद्धयः प्रोक्ता अपरा लघिमादयः॥

divyauṣadhaiśca yā siddhirmaṁtrasparśodbhavā ca yā| etāstu siddhayaḥ proktā aparā laghimādayaḥ||

"- and the accomplishment born of divine herbs, and that born of the touch of mantras - these accomplishments have been declared, besides the others such as lightness and the rest."

Verse 55 (skanda.5.130.55)

धर्मार्थकाम सिद्धिश्च मोक्षसिद्धिरनुत्तमा। जायते नात्र सन्देहः श्रीसिद्धेश्वरदर्शनात्॥

dharmārthakāma siddhiśca mokṣasiddhiranuttamā| jāyate nātra sandehaḥ śrīsiddheśvaradarśanāt||

"Accomplishment in dharma, artha and kama, and the supreme accomplishment of liberation - all these arise, there is no doubt of it, from the sight of Shri Siddheshvara."

Verse 56 (skanda.5.130.56)

एष ते कथितो देवि प्रभावः पापनाशनः। सिद्धेश्वरस्य देवस्य मतंगेशमथो शृणु॥

eṣa te kathito devi prabhāvaḥ pāpanāśanaḥ| siddheśvarasya devasya mataṁgeśamatho śṛṇu||

"This, O Devi, is the sin-destroying power of the god Siddheshvara that I have told you; now hear of Matangesha."
