Greatness of the Confluence of the Nilaganga

Verse 1 (skanda.5.180.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। ओंकारात्पूर्वभागे वै सङ्गमो लोकविश्रुतः । रेवया संगता यत्र नीलगङ्गा नृपोत्तम

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| oṁkārātpūrvabhāge vai saṅgamo lokaviśrutaḥ | revayā saṁgatā yatra nīlagaṅgā nṛpottama

Sri Markandeya said: O best of kings, to the east of Omkareshvara there is a confluence renowned throughout the world, where the Nilaganga joins the Reva.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.180.2)

तत्र स्नात्वा जपित्वा च कोऽर्थोऽलभ्यो भवेद्भुवि । षष्टिर्वर्षसहस्राणि नीलकण्ठपुरे वसेत्

tatra snātvā japitvā ca ko'rtho'labhyo bhavedbhuvi | ṣaṣṭirvarṣasahasrāṇi nīlakaṇṭhapure vaset

Having bathed and recited japa there, what benefit on earth remains unattainable? One dwells in Nilakanthapura for sixty thousand years.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.180.3)

तर्पयित्वा पितॄञ्श्राद्धे तिलमिश्रैर्जलैरपि । उद्धरेदात्मना सार्धं पुरुषानेकविंशतिम्

tarpayitvā pitṝñśrāddhe tilamiśrairjalairapi | uddharedātmanā sārdhaṁ puruṣānekaviṁśatim

By offering shraddha-libations to the ancestors with water mixed with sesame there, one delivers, together with oneself, twenty-one generations of forebears.
