The Greatness of Ayonisambhava Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.269.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। ततो गच्छेत्तु राजेन्द्र तीर्थं परमशोभनम्। अयोनिजं महापुण्यं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्।

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| tato gacchettu rājendra tīrthaṁ paramaśobhanam| ayonijaṁ mahāpuṇyaṁ sarvapāpapraṇāśanam||

Shri Markandeya said: Thereafter, O lord of kings, one should go to a most beautiful tirtha, unborn-from-a-womb, greatly meritorious, destroyer of all sin.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.269.2)

अयोनिजे नरः स्नात्वा पूजयेत्परमेश्वरम्। पितृदेवार्चनं कृत्वा मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषैः।

ayonije naraḥ snātvā pūjayetparameśvaram| pitṛdevārcanaṁ kṛtvā mucyate sarvakilbiṣaiḥ||

A man, having bathed at Ayonija and worshipped the Supreme Lord, having performed worship of the ancestor-deities, is freed from all sins.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.269.3)

तत्र तीर्थे तु विधिना प्राणत्यागं करोति यः। स कदाचिन्महाराज योनिद्वारं न पश्यति।

tatra tīrthe tu vidhinā prāṇatyāgaṁ karoti yaḥ| sa kadācinmahārāja yonidvāraṁ na paśyati||

Whoever, according to the prescribed rite, gives up their life at that tirtha, O great king, never again beholds the door of a womb.
