The Greatness of Siddheshvara Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.290.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। तस्यैवानन्तरं चान्यत्सिद्धेश्वरमनुत्तमम् । तीर्थं सर्वगुणोपेतं सर्वलोकेषु पूजितम् ।

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| tasyaivānantaraṁ cānyat siddheśvaram anuttamam| tīrthaṁ sarvaguṇopetaṁ sarvalokeṣu pūjitam||

Shri Markandeya said: Immediately next to it is another unsurpassed tirtha, Siddheshvara, endowed with all virtues, worshipped in all the worlds.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.290.2)

तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा ह्युमारुद्रं प्रपूजयेत् । वाजपेयस्य यज्ञस्य स लभेत्फलमुत्तमम् ।

tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā hy umārudraṁ prapūjayet| vājapeyasya yajñasya sa labhet phalam uttamam||

One who bathes at that tirtha and worships Uma-Rudra obtains the excellent fruit of the Vajapeya sacrifice.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.290.3)

तेन पुण्येन महता मृतः स्वर्गमवाप्नुयात् । अप्सरोगणसंवीतो जयशब्दादिमङ्गलैः ।

tena puṇyena mahatā mṛtaḥ svargam avāpnuyāt| apsarogaṇasaṁvīto jayaśabdādimaṅgalaiḥ||

By that great merit, upon death he attains heaven, surrounded by hosts of apsarases, amid shouts of victory and other auspicious sounds.

Verse 4 (skanda.5.290.4)

सहस्रवत्सरांस्तत्र क्रीडयित्वा यथासुखम् । धनधान्यसमोपेते कुले महति जायते ।

sahasravatsarāṁs tatra krīḍayitvā yathāsukham| dhanadhānyasamopete kule mahati jāyate||

Having sported there happily for a thousand years, he is born in a great family, rich with wealth and grain.

Verse 5 (skanda.5.290.5)

पूज्यमानो नरश्रेष्ठ वेदवेदाङ्गपारगः । व्याधिशोकविनिर्मुक्तो जीवेच्च शरदां शतम् ।

pūjyamāno naraśreṣṭha vedavedāṅgapāragaḥ| vyādhiśokavinirmukto jīvec ca śaradāṁ śatam||

O best of men, honoured, versed in the Vedas and Vedangas, free from disease and sorrow, he lives for a hundred autumns.
