Verse 1 (skanda.5.33.1)

सनत्कुमार उवाच । नारायणोऽपि संस्थाप्य शंखं दध्मौ प्रयत्नतः । तुष्टाव प्रयतो भूत्वा स्तोत्रेणा नेन भास्करम्

sanatkumāra uvāca nārāyaṇo'pi saṁsthāpya śaṁkhaṁ dadhmau prayatnataḥ tuṣṭāva prayato bhūtvā stotreṇā nena bhāskaram

Sanatkumāra said: "Nārāyaṇa too, having duly established the image, diligently sounded his conch; and, becoming purified, praised Bhāskara with this hymn."

Verse 2 (skanda.5.33.2)

श्रीकृष्ण उवाच । आदित्यं भास्करं भानुं रविं सूर्यं दिवाकरम् । दिवाकरं दिवानाथं तपनं तपतां वरम्

śrīkṛṣṇa uvāca ādityaṁ bhāskaraṁ bhānuṁ raviṁ sūryaṁ divākaram divākaraṁ divānāthaṁ tapanaṁ tapatāṁ varam

Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: "[I praise him as] Āditya, Bhāskara, Bhānu, Ravi, Sūrya, Divākara, Divākara, Divānātha, Tapana, best of those who burn --"

Verse 3 (skanda.5.33.3)

वरेण्यं वरदं विष्णुमनघं वासवानुजम् । बलवीर्यं सहस्रांशुं सहस्रकिरणद्युतिम्

vareṇyaṁ varadaṁ viṣṇumanaghaṁ vāsavānujam balavīryaṁ sahasrāṁśuṁ sahasrakiraṇadyutim

"-- the excellent one, the boon-giver, Viṣṇu, the sinless one, younger brother of Vāsava, of strength and valour, thousand-rayed, radiant with a thousand beams --"

Verse 4 (skanda.5.33.4)

मयूखमालिनं विश्वं मार्तंडं चंडरोचिषम् । सदातीतं सुभास्वंतं सप्तसप्तिं सुखोदयम्

mayūkhamālinaṁ viśvaṁ mārtaṁḍaṁ caṁḍarociṣam sadātītaṁ subhāsvaṁtaṁ saptasaptiṁ sukhodayam

"-- garlanded with rays, the universe itself, Mārtaṇḍa, of fierce radiance, ever transcendent, brightly shining, drawn by seven steeds, whose rising brings joy --"

Verse 5 (skanda.5.33.5)

देवदेवमहिर्बुध्न्यं धाम्नां निधिमनुत्तमम् । तपोब्रह्ममयालोकं लोकपालमपांपतिम्

devadevamahirbudhnyaṁ dhāmnāṁ nidhimanuttamam tapobrahmamayālokaṁ lokapālamapāṁpatim

"-- the God of gods, Ahirbudhnya, the unsurpassed treasury of splendours, whose light consists of austerity and Brahman, guardian of the worlds, lord of the waters --"

Verse 6 (skanda.5.33.6)

जगत्प्रबोधजनकं जगद्बीजं जगत्प्रभुम् । अर्कं निःश्रेयसपरं कारणं श्रेयसां परम्

jagatprabodhajanakaṁ jagadbījaṁ jagatprabhum arkaṁ niḥśreyasaparaṁ kāraṇaṁ śreyasāṁ param

"-- the awakener of the world, the seed of the world, the lord of the world, Arka, devoted to the highest good, the cause, supreme among sources of welfare --"

Verse 7 (skanda.5.33.7)

इनं प्रभाविणं पुण्यं पतंगं पवगेश्वरम् । दातारं वांछितार्थानां दृष्टादृष्टफलप्रदम्

inaṁ prabhāviṇaṁ puṇyaṁ pataṁgaṁ pavageśvaram dātāraṁ vāṁchitārthānāṁ dṛṣṭādṛṣṭaphalapradam

"-- the ruler, the powerful one, the holy one, the sky-traveller, lord of the wind, the giver of desired objects, the bestower of fruit both seen and unseen --"

Verse 8 (skanda.5.33.8)

गृहं गृहकरं हंसं हरिदश्वं हुताशनम् । मंगल्यं मंगलं गेयं ध्रुवं धर्मप्रबोधनम्

gṛhaṁ gṛhakaraṁ haṁsaṁ haridaśvaṁ hutāśanam maṁgalyaṁ maṁgalaṁ geyaṁ dhruvaṁ dharmaprabodhanam

"-- the abode, the maker of abodes, the swan, he of the tawny steeds, the consumer of oblations, the auspicious one, the blessed one, worthy of song, the fixed one, the awakener of dharma --"

Verse 9 (skanda.5.33.9)

भवसंभावित भावं भूतभव्यभवात्मकम् । दुर्गमं दुर्गतिहरं हरनेत्रं त्रयीमयम्

bhavasaṁbhāvita bhāvaṁ bhūtabhavyabhavātmakam durgamaṁ durgatiharaṁ haranetraṁ trayīmayam

"-- whose existence is affirmed by all existence, whose self consists of past, future, and present, the hard-to-approach, the remover of evil states, the eye of Hara, consisting of the three Vedas --"

Verse 10 (skanda.5.33.10)

त्रैलोक्यतिलकं तीर्थं तरणिं सर्वतोमुखम् । तेजोराशिसुनिर्वाणं विश्वेशं धाम सांप्रतम्

trailokyatilakaṁ tīrthaṁ taraṇiṁ sarvatomukham tejorāśisunirvāṇaṁ viśveśaṁ dhāma sāṁpratam

"-- the crown-jewel of the three worlds, the holy ford, the ferry-boat, facing every direction, whose mass of splendour is perfect peace, the lord of the universe, the present abode --"

Verse 11 (skanda.5.33.11)

कल्पं कल्पानलं कालं कालचक्रं क्रतुप्रियम् । भूषणं मरुतं सूर्यं मणिरत्नं सुलोचनम्

kalpaṁ kalpānalaṁ kālaṁ kālacakraṁ kratupriyam bhūṣaṇaṁ marutaṁ sūryaṁ maṇiratnaṁ sulocanam

"-- the aeon, the fire of dissolution, Time, the wheel of Time, fond of sacrifices, the ornament, the wind, the Sun, the jewel-gem, the beautiful-eyed one --"

Verse 12 (skanda.5.33.12)

त्वष्टारं विष्टरं विश्वं सदसत्कर्मसाक्षिकम् । सवितारं सहस्राक्षं प्रजापालमधोक्षजम्

tvaṣṭāraṁ viṣṭaraṁ viśvaṁ sadasatkarmasākṣikam savitāraṁ sahasrākṣaṁ prajāpālamadhokṣajam

"-- the fashioner, the seat, the universe, the witness of good and evil deeds, Savitṛ, the thousand-eyed one, the protector of creatures, Adhokṣaja --"

Verse 13 (skanda.5.33.13)

ब्रह्माणं वासरारंभे रक्तवर्णं महाद्युतिम् । शुक्लं मध्यंदिने रुद्रं श्यामं विष्णुं दिनक्षये

brahmāṇaṁ vāsarāraṁbhe raktavarṇaṁ mahādyutim śuklaṁ madhyaṁdine rudraṁ śyāmaṁ viṣṇuṁ dinakṣaye

"-- Brahmā at the start of the day, red-hued, of great splendour; white at midday, Rudra; dark, as Viṣṇu, at the day's end --"

Verse 14 (skanda.5.33.14)

नाम्नामष्टशतं दिव्यं विष्णुना समुदाहृतम् । य इदं प्रयतो भूत्वा पठेद्भक्त्या समाहितः

nāmnāmaṣṭaśataṁ divyaṁ viṣṇunā samudāhṛtam ya idaṁ prayato bhūtvā paṭhedbhaktyā samāhitaḥ

"-- this divine hundred-and-eight names, thus recited by Viṣṇu. Whoever, having become purified, reads this with devotion and composed mind --"

Verse 15 (skanda.5.33.15)

न तस्य विपदः क्वापि सर्वत्रापि शुभा गतिः । धनधान्यसुखावाप्तिः पुत्रलाभश्च जायते

na tasya vipadaḥ kvāpi sarvatrāpi śubhā gatiḥ dhanadhānyasukhāvāptiḥ putralābhaśca jāyate

"-- no calamity ever befalls him anywhere; everywhere his course is auspicious; he obtains wealth, grain, and happiness, and the gain of sons."

Verse 16 (skanda.5.33.16)

तेजः प्रज्ञां परं लाभं ज्ञानं च लभते गतिम् । एतच्छ्रुत्वा जगन्नाथो जगामादर्शनं ततः

tejaḥ prajñāṁ paraṁ lābhaṁ jñānaṁ ca labhate gatim etacchrutvā jagannātho jagāmādarśanaṁ tataḥ

He obtains splendour, wisdom, supreme gain, knowledge, and the highest path. Hearing this, the Lord of the world then went to behold Keśavārka.

Verse 17 (skanda.5.33.17)

केशवार्कमुखं दृष्ट्वा पद्मरागसमप्रभम् । विमुक्तः सर्वपापेभ्यः सूर्यलोके महीयते

keśavārkamukhaṁ dṛṣṭvā padmarāgasamaprabham vimuktaḥ sarvapāpebhyaḥ sūryaloke mahīyate

He who beholds the face of Keśavārka, radiant as a ruby, is freed from all sins and is honoured in the world of the Sun.

Verse 18 (skanda.5.33.18)

केशवार्कसमीपे तु रेणुतीर्थं प्रचक्षते । तद्दृष्ट्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मुच्यते नात्र संशयः

keśavārkasamīpe tu reṇutīrthaṁ pracakṣate taddṛṣṭvā sarvapāpebhyo mucyate nātra saṁśayaḥ

Near Keśavārka, they speak of the ford Reṇutīrtha; having seen it, one is freed from all sins — of this there is no doubt.
