The Greatness of Erandi Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.372.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। एरण्डीसङ्गमं गच्छेत्सुरासुरनमस्कृतम्। तत्तु तीर्थं महापुण्यं महापातकनाशनम्।

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| eraṇḍīsaṅgamaṁ gacchetsurāsuranamaskṛtam| tattu tīrthaṁ mahāpuṇyaṁ mahāpātakanāśanam|||

Shri Markandeya said: One should go to the confluence of Erandi, which is bowed to by both gods and demons. That tirtha is of great merit and destroys the gravest sins.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.372.2)

उपवासपरो भूत्वा नियतेन्द्रियमानसः। तत्र स्नात्वा विधानेन मुच्यते ब्रह्महत्यया।

upavāsaparo bhūtvā niyatendriyamānasaḥ| tatra snātvā vidhānena mucyate brahmahatyayā|||

Devoted to fasting, with senses and mind restrained, by bathing there according to rule, a man becomes freed from the sin of killing a brahmin.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.372.3)

तत्र तीर्थे तु यो भक्त्या प्राणत्यागपरो भवेत्। अनिवर्तिका गतिस्तस्य रुद्रलोकादसंशयम्।

tatra tīrthe tu yo bhaktyā prāṇatyāgaparo bhavet| anivartikā gatistasya rudralokādasaṁśayam|||

Whoever at that tirtha, with devotion, is intent on giving up his life attains, without doubt, a state of non-return from the world of Rudra.
