The Greatness of Kshetrapala (Mantravali)

Verse 1 (skanda.7.243.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि क्षेत्रपालं महाप्रभम्। ईशाने संस्थितं देवं मंत्रमालाविभूषितम्

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi kṣetrapālaṁ mahāprabham| īśāne saṁsthitaṁ devaṁ maṁtramālāvibhūṣitam

Ishvara said: O Mahadevi, next one should go to the greatly radiant Kshetrapala, the deity who resides in the northeast quarter, adorned with a garland of mantras.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.243.2)

हिरण्यातटमाश्रित्य रक्षार्थं समुपस्थितम्। तत्रैव हीरकं क्षेत्रं तस्मिन्रक्षां करोति सः

hiraṇyātaṭamāśritya rakṣārthaṁ samupasthitam| tatraiva hīrakaṁ kṣetraṁ tasminrakṣāṁ karoti saḥ

Taking his stand on the bank of the Hiranya for the sake of protection, he guards there the field known as Hiraka.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.243.3)

कृष्णपक्षे त्रयोदश्यां तत्र तं पूजयेन्नरः। गंधपुष्पोपहारैश्च तथा बलि निवेदनैः

kṛṣṇapakṣe trayodaśyāṁ tatra taṁ pūjayennaraḥ| gandhapuṣpopahāraiśca tathā bali nivedanaiḥ

On the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight, one should worship him there with offerings of fragrant substances and flowers, and with the presentation of oblations.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.243.4)

एवं संपूजितो देवः सर्वकामप्रदो भवेत्

evaṁ saṁpūjito devaḥ sarvakāmaprado bhavet

Thus worshipped, the god grants the fulfilment of all desires.
