The Greatness of Brahmeshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.245.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि तत्रैवोपरिसंस्थितम्। सरस्वत्यास्तटे देवि पर्णादित्यस्य पश्चिमे

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi tatraivoparisaṁsthitam| sarasvatyāstaṭe devi parṇādityasya paścime

Ishvara said: O Mahadevi, next one should go to the place situated just above there, O Devi, on the bank of the Sarasvati, to the west of Parnaditya.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.245.2)

तत्रास्ते सुमहल्लिंगं स्थापितं ब्रह्मणा पुरा। ब्रह्मेश्वरेति विख्यातं सर्वपातकनाशनम्

tatrāste sumahalliṅgaṁ sthāpitaṁ brahmaṇā purā| brahmeśvareti vikhyātaṁ sarvapātakanāśanam

There stands a great linga, installed in ancient times by Brahma, renowned by the name Brahmeshvara, the destroyer of all sins.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.245.3)

तत्र स्नात्वा द्वितीयायां सोपवासो जितेंद्रियः। अर्चयेद्देवदेवेशं नाम्ना ब्रह्मेश्वरं शुभम्। तर्पयेच्च पितॄञ्छ्राद्धे यदीच्छेच्छाश्वतं पदम्

tatra snātvā dvitīyāyāṁ sopavāso jiteṁdriyaḥ| arcayeddevadeveśaṁ nāmnā brahmeśvaraṁ śubham| tarpayecca pitṝñchrāddhe yadīcchecchāśvataṁ padam

Having bathed there on the second lunar day, one should, while fasting and with senses restrained, worship that auspicious Lord of gods named Brahmeshvara, and, through shraddha, offer libations to the ancestors, if one desires the eternal abode.
