The Glory of Siddheshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.260.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि देवं सिद्धेश्वरं परम्। तस्यैव पश्चिमे भागे सिद्धैः संस्थापितं पुरा॥

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchet mahādevi devaṁ siddheśvaraṁ param| tasyaiva paścime bhāge siddhaiḥ saṁsthāpitaṁ purā||

Ishvara said: Thereafter, O Mahadevi, one should go to the supreme god Siddheshvara, who was established long ago to the west of that (Parnaditya) by the Siddhas.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.260.2)

सिद्धा नाम सुराः पूर्वं तत्रागत्य वरानने। लिंगं संस्थापयामासुः सिद्ध्यर्थं सर्ववस्तुषु॥

siddhā nāma surāḥ pūrvaṁ tatrāgatya varānane| liṅgaṁ saṁsthāpayāmāsuḥ siddhyarthaṁ sarvavastuṣu||

O fair-faced one, in ancient times the divine beings called Siddhas came there and established this linga, in order to attain success in all their endeavors.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.260.3)

ततस्तुष्टो महादेवि तेषां दृष्ट्वा तपो महत्। अणिमादिकमैश्वर्यं तेषां सर्वं ददौ शिवः॥

tatastuṣṭo mahādevi teṣāṁ dṛṣṭvā tapo mahat| aṇimādikamaiśvaryaṁ teṣāṁ sarvaṁ dadau śivaḥ||

O Mahadevi, then, pleased on seeing their great austerity, Shiva bestowed upon them all the powers, beginning with animā (the power of becoming minute).

Verse 4 (skanda.7.260.4)

अब्रवीदत्र मे नित्यं सानिध्यं च भविष्यति॥

abravīdatra me nityaṁ sānidhyaṁ ca bhaviṣyati||

He said: "My presence shall forever abide here."

Verse 5 (skanda.7.260.5)

चैत्रे शुक्लचतुर्द्दश्यां योऽत्र मां पूजयिष्यति। स यास्यति परं स्थानं प्रसादान्मम पुण्यकृत्॥

caitre śuklacaturddaśyāṁ yo'tra māṁ pūjayiṣyati| sa yāsyati paraṁ sthānaṁ prasādānmama puṇyakṛt||

"Whoever worships me here on the fourteenth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra, that meritorious soul shall, by my grace, attain the supreme abode."

Verse 6 (skanda.7.260.6)

एवमुक्त्वाऽथ भगवाञ्जगामादर्शनं ततः। सिद्धाश्चैव तदाऽऽगत्य पूजयंति महेश्वरम्॥

evamuktvā'tha bhagavāñjagāmādarśanaṁ tataḥ| siddhāścaiva tadā'āgatya pūjayaṁti maheśvaram||

Having said this, the Lord then vanished from sight. From then on, the Siddhas come there and worship Maheshvara.

Verse 7 (skanda.7.260.7)

यस्तमाराधयेद्भक्त्या संसिद्धिं लभतेऽद्भुताम्। ईप्सितां च सुरश्रेष्ठे तस्मात्तं पूजयेत्सदा॥

yastamārādhayedbhaktyā saṁsiddhiṁ labhate'dbhutām| īpsitāṁ ca suraśreṣṭhe tasmāttaṁ pūjayetsadā||

Whoever worships him with devotion attains wondrous accomplishment and his heart's desire. Therefore, O foremost among gods, one should always worship him.
