The Glory of Chhayalinga

Verse 1 (skanda.7.263.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि च्छायालिंगमिति स्मृतम्। उत्तरे न्यंकुमत्याश्च बह्वाश्चर्यं महत्फलम्॥

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchet mahādevi cchāyāliṅgamiti smṛtam| uttare nyaṁkumatyāśca bahvāścaryaṁ mahatphalam||

Ishvara said: Thereafter, O Mahadevi, one should go to the tirtha known as Chhayalinga, situated to the north of the Nyankumati, a place of great wonder and great reward.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.263.2)

तं दृष्ट्वा मानवो देवि मुच्यते पंचपातकैः। सार्द्धद्वादशहस्तं तु योजनत्रितयेन तु। न पश्यंति महादेवि पापिष्ठा ये तु मानवाः॥

taṁ dṛṣṭvā mānavo devi mucyate paṁcapātakaiḥ| sārddhadvādaśahastaṁ tu yojanatritayena tu| na paśyaṁti mahādevi pāpiṣṭhā ye tu mānavāḥ||

O Goddess, by beholding it, a man is freed from the five great sins. O Mahadevi, though this linga is twelve and a half cubits tall, those men who are exceedingly sinful cannot see it even from three yojanas away.
