The Glory of Vidura's Hermitage

Verse 1 (skanda.7.269.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि विदुरस्याश्रमं महत्। यत्राकरोत्तपो रौद्रं विदुरो धर्ममूर्त्तिमान्॥

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchet mahādevi vidurasyāśramaṁ mahat| yatrākarottapo raudraṁ viduro dharmamūrttimān||

Ishvara said: Thereafter, O Mahadevi, one should go to the great hermitage of Vidura, where Vidura, the very embodiment of Dharma, performed fierce austerity.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.269.2)

प्रतिष्ठाप्य महादेवं लिंगं त्रिभुवनेश्वरम्। तं दृष्ट्वा मानवो देवि सर्वान्कामानवाप्नुयात्॥

pratiṣṭhāpya mahādevaṁ liṅgaṁ tribhuvaneśvaram| taṁ dṛṣṭvā mānavo devi sarvānkāmānavāpnuyāt||

There he installed the linga of Mahadeva, lord of the three worlds. O Goddess, by beholding it, a man obtains all his desires.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.269.3)

विदुराट्टालकं नाम गणगंधर्वसेवितम्। द्वादशस्थानकं स्थानं नाल्पपुण्येन लभ्यते॥

vidurāṭṭālakaṁ nāma gaṇagandharvasevitam| dvādaśasthānakaṁ sthānaṁ nālpapuṇyena labhyate||

That place, called Viduratatalaka, is frequented by ganas and gandharvas and consists of twelve holy spots; it is not attained through slight merit.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.269.4)

नावर्षणं भवेत्तत्र कदाचिदपि पार्वति। लिंगानि तत्र दिव्यानि पश्येत्पापोपशान्तये॥

nāvarṣaṇaṁ bhavettatra kadācidapi pārvati| liṅgāni tatra divyāni paśyetpāpopaśāntaye||

O Parvati, there is never a drought there. For the pacification of sin, one should behold the divine lingas established there.
