The Glory of Bhadrakali's Young Sun (Bala-arka)

Verse 1 (skanda.7.292.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। तस्मादुत्तरभागे तु स्थानात्कौरवसंज्ञकात्। भद्रकाली महादेवि तपः कृत्वा सुदुस्तरम्

īśvara uvāca| tasmāduttarabhāge tu sthānātkauravasaṁjñakāt| bhadrakālī mahādevi tapaḥ kṛtvā sudustaram

Ishvara said: Then, to the north of the place named Kaurava, O great Goddess, Bhadrakali, having performed extremely arduous austerity,

Verse 2 (skanda.7.292.2)

रविं संस्थापयामास भक्त्या परमया युता। रविवारेण सप्तम्यां रक्तपुष्पानुलेपनैः

raviṁ saṁsthāpayāmāsa bhaktyā paramayā yutā| ravivāreṇa saptamyāṁ raktapuṣpānulepanaiḥ

united with supreme devotion, established the Sun there—worshipped on Sunday, the seventh lunar day, with red flowers and unguents.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.292.3)

यस्तं पूजयते भक्त्या कोटियज्ञफलं लभेत्। मुच्यते वातपित्तोत्थै रोगैरन्यैश्च पुष्कलैः

yastaṁ pūjayate bhaktyā koṭiyajñaphalaṁ labhet| mucyate vātapittotthai rogairanyaiśca puṣkalaiḥ

Whoever worships Him with devotion obtains the fruit of a crore sacrifices; he is freed from diseases arising from wind and bile, and from many other ailments.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.292.4)

अश्वस्तत्रैव दातव्यः सम्यग्यात्राफलेप्सुभिः

aśvastatraiva dātavyaḥ samyagyātrāphalepsubhiḥ

A horse should indeed be given there by those who desire the complete fruit of the pilgrimage.
