Ishvara said: In the northern part of that very place, situated a little toward the northwest, there is one named Sangaleshvara, the destroyer of all sins.

There Brahma and Vishnu were engaged in worshipping the linga; and Shakra too, of great splendor, worshipped the linga, O dear one.
Verse 3 (skanda.7.300.3)

Varuna, and Dhanada, and Dharmaraja, and Pavaka, together with the Adityas and the Vasus, all the guardians of the quarters from every side—
Verse 4 (skanda.7.300.4)
ārādhitaṁ mahāliṁgaṁ saṁgāleśvaranāmabhṛt| pūjayitvā tu te sarve dṛṣṭvā māhātmyamuttamam
worshipped that great linga bearing the name Sangaleshvara; and having worshipped it, having beheld its supreme glory, all of them—
Verse 5 (skanda.7.300.5)
ūcuśca sahasā devi paramānaṁdasaṁyutāḥ| devānāṁ nivahairyasmātsamāgatya pratiṣṭhitam| saṁgāleśvaranāmāsya bhaviṣyati dharātale
O Goddess, filled with supreme bliss, spoke suddenly: 'Since this has come to be established here through the gathering of the multitude of gods, its name on this earth shall be Sangaleshvara.'
Verse 6 (skanda.7.300.6)
saṁgāleśvaranāmānaṁ pūjayiṣyaṁti mānavāḥ| na teṣāmanvaye kaścinnirdhanaḥ saṁbhaviṣyati
Men shall worship him by the name Sangaleshvara; in their lineage no one shall ever become poor.
Verse 7 (skanda.7.300.7)

gosahasrasya dattasya kurukṣetre ca yatphalam| tatphalaṁ samavāpnoti saṁgāleśvaradarśanāt
Whatever fruit there is in giving a thousand cows at Kurukshetra, that same fruit is obtained through the sight of Sangaleshvara.
Verse 8 (skanda.7.300.8)
amāvāsyāṁ ca saṁprāpya snānaṁ kṛtvā vidhānataḥ| yaḥ karoti naraḥ śrāddhaṁ pitṝṇāṁ roṣavarjitaḥ| pitarastasya tṛpyaṁti yāvadābhūtasaṁplavam
Having come on the new-moon day and duly bathed, whatever man, free from anger, performs shraddha for the ancestors—his ancestors remain satisfied until the dissolution of the universe.
Verse 9 (skanda.7.300.9)
ardhakrośaṁ ca tatkṣetraṁ samaṁtātparimaṇḍalam| sarvakāmapradaṁ nṛṇāṁ sarvapātakanāśanam
And that field, half a krosha all around in its circuit, grants all desires to men and destroys all sins.
Verse 10 (skanda.7.300.10)
asminkṣetre mahādevi jīvā uttamamadhyamāḥ| kālena nidhanaṁ prāptāste'pi yāṁti parāṁ gatim
O great Goddess, in this field beings of higher and middling merit, meeting death there in time, go also to the supreme goal.
Verse 11 (skanda.7.300.11)
gṛhītvānaśanaṁ ye tu prāṇāṁstyakṣyaṁti mānavāḥ| niścayaṁ te mahādevi līyaṁte parameśvare
And, O great Goddess, those men who, taking up fasting, shall give up their lives there—they certainly merge into the Supreme Lord.
Verse 12 (skanda.7.300.12)
gavā hatā dvijahatā ye ca vai daṁṣṭribhirhatā| ātmano ghātakā ye tu sarpadaṣṭāśca ye mṛtāḥ
Those slain by a cow, those slain by a brahmin, those slain by tusked beasts, those who are self-slayers, and those who died from a serpent's bite,
Verse 13 (skanda.7.300.13)
śayyāyāṁ vigataprāṇā ye ca śaucavivarjitāḥ| asmiṁstīrthe mahāpuṇye apunarbhavadāyake
those who breathed their last on a bed, and those who were devoid of purity—all of these, at this greatly holy tirtha that grants freedom from rebirth,
Verse 14 (skanda.7.300.14)
dattaiḥ ṣoḍaśabhiḥ śrāddhairvṛṣotsarge kṛte punaḥ| vidhivadbhojitairviprairbhavenmuktirna saṁśayaḥ
by the giving of sixteen shraddhas, and by performing again the bull-releasing rite, with brahmins duly fed, attain liberation without doubt.
Verse 15 (skanda.7.300.15)
evamuktvā surāḥ sarve gatavaṁtastriviṣṭapam
Having said this, all the gods departed for heaven.
Verse 16 (skanda.7.300.16)
saṁgāleśvaramāhātmyaṁ saṁkṣepātkathitaṁ tava| śrutaṁ harati pāpāni duḥkhaśokāṁstathaiva ca
Thus the glory of Sangaleshvara has been told to you in brief; heard, it removes sins, and sorrows and griefs as well.
