The Glory of the Confluence at Rishitirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.7.314.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। अथ देवकुलाग्नेय्यां गव्यूत्या तत्र संस्थितम्। समुद्रस्य तटे रम्यमृषितीर्थमनुत्तमम्

īśvara uvāca| atha devakulāgneyyāṁ gavyūtyā tatra saṁsthitam| samudrasya taṭe ramyamṛṣitīrthamanuttamam

Ishvara said: Now, in the southeast of Devakula, situated there at a distance of one gavyuti, on the shore of the ocean, is the delightful and most excellent Rishitirtha.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.314.2)

पाषाणाकृतयस्तत्र ऋषयोऽद्यापि संस्थिताः। दृश्यंते मानुषे देवि सर्वपातकनाशनाः

pāṣāṇākṛtayastatra ṛṣayo'dyāpi saṁsthitāḥ| dṛśyaṁte mānuṣe devi sarvapātakanāśanāḥ

There, the sages, in the form of stones, still stand to this day; they are seen by men, O Goddess, as destroyers of all sins.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.314.3)

तत्र ज्येष्ठे त्वमावास्यां प्राप्यते नाधमैर्नरैः। पिंडदानं विशेषेण स्नानं श्रद्धासमन्वितैः

tatra jyeṣṭhe tvamāvāsyāṁ prāpyate nādhamairnaraiḥ| piṁḍadānaṁ viśeṣeṇa snānaṁ śraddhāsamanvitaiḥ

There, on the new-moon day in the month of Jyeshtha, this fruit is not obtained by base men; those endowed with faith should perform, especially, the offering of pinda and bathing.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.314.4)

ऋषितोयासंगमे तु स्नानं श्राद्धं सुदुर्लभम्। गोप्रदानं प्रशंसंति तत्र ते मुनिपुंगवाः। भोजनं ब्राह्मणानां तु यथाशक्त्या प्रदापयेत्

ṛṣitoyāsaṁgame tu snānaṁ śrāddhaṁ sudurlabham| gopradānaṁ praśaṁsaṁti tatra te munipuṁgavāḥ| bhojanaṁ brāhmaṇānāṁ tu yathāśaktyā pradāpayet

Bathing and performing shraddha at the confluence of the Rishitoya is most rare in its merit. The foremost of sages praise there the gift of a cow. One should offer a meal to Brahmins according to one's ability.
