The Glory of Hiranya-Tundapura, Ghargharahrada and Kandeshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.363.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि हिरण्यातटसंस्थितम्। स्थानं तुण्डपुरंनाम यत्रासौ घर्घरो ह्रदः

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi hiraṇyātaṭasaṁsthitam| sthānaṁ tuṇḍapuraṁnāma yatrāsau ghargharo hradaḥ

Ishvara said: Thereafter, O great Goddess, one should go to the place resting on the bank of the Hiranya, named Tundapura, where lies that lake called Ghargharahrada.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.363.2)

तत्र कन्देश्वरो देवो यत्र बद्धा जटा मया। तत्र स्नात्वा नरः सम्यक्त्ं देवं यः प्रपूजयेत्। स मुक्तः पातकैर्घोरैः प्राप्नुयाच्छासनं शुभम्

tatra kandeśvaro devo yatra baddhā jaṭā mayā| tatra snātvā naraḥ samyaktaṁ devaṁ yaḥ prapūjayet| sa muktaḥ pātakairghoraiḥ prāpnuyācchāsanaṁ śubham

There is the deity Kandeshvara, the place where I bound up my matted locks. The man who bathes there and duly worships that deity is freed from terrible sins and attains an auspicious dominion.
