The Glory of Siddheshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.52.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। पञ्चाथ सिद्धलिङ्गानि कथयामि यशस्विनि। येषां दर्शनतो देवि सिद्धा यात्रा भवेन्नृणाम्

īśvara uvāca| pañcātha siddhaliṅgāni kathayāmi yaśasvini| yeṣāṁ darśanato devi siddhā yātrā bhavennṛṇām

Ishvara said: O illustrious one, now I shall tell of the five Siddha-lingas, by mere sight of which, O Goddess, the pilgrimage of men becomes accomplished.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.52.2)

सोमेशादीशदिग्भागे वरारोहेति या स्मृता। तस्याश्च पूर्वदिग्भागे देवं सिद्धेश्वरं परम्। अभिगम्य नरो भक्त्या अणिमादिकमाप्नुयात्

someśādīśadigbhāge varāroheti yā smṛtā| tasyāśca pūrvadigbhāge devaṁ siddheśvaraṁ param| abhigamya naro bhaktyā aṇimādikamāpnuyāt

In the northeast (Ishana) direction from Somesha lies the place remembered as Vararoha; in the eastern part of that place, a man who approaches the supreme god Siddheshvara with devotion attains animā and the other siddhis.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.52.3)

सिद्धैः प्रतिष्ठितं लिंगं दृष्ट्वा भक्त्या तु मानवः। मुच्यते पातकैः सर्वैः सिद्धलोकं स गच्छति

siddhaiḥ pratiṣṭhitaṁ liṅgaṁ dṛṣṭvā bhaktyā tu mānavaḥ| mucyate pātakaiḥ sarvaiḥ siddhalokaṁ sa gacchati

Beholding with devotion the linga established by the Siddhas, a man is freed from all sins and attains the world of the Siddhas.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.52.4)

विघ्नानि नाशमायांति तत्र क्षेत्रनिवासिनाम्। कामः क्रोधो भय लोभो रागो मत्सर एव च

vighnāni nāśamāyānti tatra kṣetranivāsinām| kāmaḥ krodho bhaya lobho rāgo matsara eva ca

There, the obstacles of those who dwell in that field are destroyed — desire, anger, fear, greed, passion, and envy,

Verse 5 (skanda.7.52.5)

ईर्ष्या दंभस्तथाऽऽलस्यं निद्रा मोहस्त्वहंकृतिः। एतानि विघ्नरूपाणि सिद्धेर्विघ्नकराणि तु

īrṣyā daṁbhastathālasyaṁ nidrā mohastvahaṁkṛtiḥ| etāni vighnarūpāṇi siddhervighnakarāṇi tu

as well as jealousy, hypocrisy, sloth, sleep, delusion, and egotism — these are forms of obstruction that hinder spiritual accomplishment.

Verse 6 (skanda.7.52.6)

तानि नाशं समायांति तत्र सिद्धेश्वरार्चनात्। एवं ज्ञात्वा तु यत्नेन तत्र यात्रां समाचरेत्

tāni nāśaṁ samāyānti tatra siddheśvarārcanāt| evaṁ jñātvā tu yatnena tatra yātrāṁ samācaret

These are all destroyed there through the worship of Siddheshvara. Knowing this, one should undertake the pilgrimage there with diligent effort.

Verse 7 (skanda.7.52.7)

इत्येवं कथितं देवि सिद्धेश्वरमहोदयम्। सर्वकामप्रदं नृणां श्रुतं पातकनाशनम्

ityevaṁ kathitaṁ devi siddheśvaramahodayam| sarvakāmapradaṁ nṛṇāṁ śrutaṁ pātakanāśanam

Thus, O Goddess, has been told this great glory of Siddheshvara, which grants all desires to men and, merely by being heard, destroys sin.
