The Glory of Uttankeshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.77.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि उत्तंकेश्वरमुत्तमम्। तस्यैव दक्षिणे भागे नातिदूरे व्यवस्थितम्। स्थापितं च स्वयं भक्त्या उत्तंकेन महात्मना

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi uttaṁkeśvaramuttamam| tasyaiva dakṣiṇe bhāge nātidūre vyavasthitam| sthāpitaṁ ca svayaṁ bhaktyā uttaṁkena mahātmanā

Ishvara said: Thereafter, O great Goddess, one should go to the excellent Uttankeshvara, situated not far to the south of that same place, which was installed with devotion by the great soul Uttanka himself.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.77.2)

तद्दृष्ट्वा तु महादेवि स्पृष्ट्वा च सुसमाहितः। संपूज्य विधिवद्भक्त्या मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषात्

taddṛṣṭvā tu mahādevi spṛṣṭvā ca susamāhitaḥ| saṁpūjya vidhivadbhaktyā mucyate sarvakilbiṣāt

O great Goddess, having beheld and touched it, with a composed mind, worshipping it duly with devotion, one is freed from all sins.
