The Glory of the Twin Lakulisha Lingas

Verse 1 (skanda.7.76.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। तस्यैव देवदेवस्य समीपस्थं विराजते। लिंगद्वयं महापुण्यं लकुलीशप्रतिष्ठितम्

īśvara uvāca| tasyaiva devadevasya samīpasthaṁ virājate| liṅgadvayaṁ mahāpuṇyaṁ lakulīśapratiṣṭhitam

Ishvara said: Right beside that very god of gods stand two most sacred Lingas, installed by Lakulisha.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.76.2)

लकुलेश्वरनामास्ति तस्य लिंगद्वयस्य वै। तद्दृष्ट्वा देवदेवस्य लिंगद्वयमनुत्तमम्

lakuleśvaranāmāsti tasya liṅgadvayasya vai| taddṛṣṭvā devadevasya liṅgadvayamanuttamam

The name of those two Lingas is Lakuleshvara; by beholding those unsurpassed twin Lingas of the god of gods —

Verse 3 (skanda.7.76.3)

मुच्यते सकलात्पापादाजन्ममरणांतिकात्। तत्र शुक्लचतुर्द्दश्यां मासि भाद्रपदे प्रिये

mucyate sakalātpāpādājanmamaraṇāṁtikāt| tatra śuklacaturddaśyāṁ māsi bhādrapade priye

one is freed from all sins committed from birth until death. There, O beloved, on the bright fourteenth day of the month of Bhadrapada —

Verse 4 (skanda.7.76.4)

उपवासपरो भूत्वा यः करोति प्रजागरम्। मूर्त्तिमंतं तु संपूज्य लकुलीशं महाप्रभम्

upavāsaparo bhūtvā yaḥ karoti prajāgaram| mūrttimaṁtaṁ tu saṁpūjya lakulīśaṁ mahāprabham

whoever, observing a fast, keeps a night-vigil, having duly worshipped the embodied and mighty Lakulisha —

Verse 5 (skanda.7.76.5)

ततः संपूज्य विधिना तत्र लिंगद्वयं पृथक्। सम्यक्पूजाविधानेन स्तुतिमंत्रैरनुक्रमात्। स याति परमं स्थानं यत्र देवो महेश्वरः

tataḥ saṁpūjya vidhinā tatra liṅgadvayaṁ pṛthak| samyakpūjāvidhānena stutimaṁtrairanukramāt| sa yāti paramaṁ sthānaṁ yatra devo maheśvaraḥ

and then duly worshipping the two Lingas there separately, according to the proper mode of worship and the sequence of hymns of praise, attains that supreme abode where the Lord Maheshvara dwells.
