Vedangas
वेदाङ्ग
The six Vedangas are the limbs of the Veda — the technical disciplines without which the Vedas cannot be recited, understood or performed. They are not devotional texts but instruments: phonetics, ritual procedure, grammar, etymology, metre and astronomy. Tradition images them as the body of the Veda itself — Shiksha its nose, Vyakarana its mouth, Nirukta its ears, Chandas its feet, Jyotisha its eyes and Kalpa its hands.
संरचना नोट
The traditional order is Shiksha, Kalpa, Vyakarana, Nirukta, Chandas, Jyotisha. Most are sutra literature rather than verse, and several are very short — the Vedanga Jyotisha runs to only a few dozen verses, making it the shortest complete text in the Vedic corpus.
