Lakshmi Ashtakam

namaste'stu mahāmāye śrīpīṭhe surapūjite| śaṅkhacakragadāhaste mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||1||

हे महामाये, आपको मेरा नमस्कार है जो श्री के सिंहासन पर विराजमान हैं और देवताओं द्वारा पूजित हैं। आपके हाथों में शंख, चक्र और गदा हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको बारंबार नमन है। आप समस्त ऐश्वर्य और दिव्य अनुग्रह की अधिष्ठात्री हैं।

O great Mahāmāyā, I bow to you who are enthroned in supreme glory and worshipped by the gods themselves. You hold the conch, discus, and mace in your hands — O Mahālakṣmī, I offer my salutations to you. You are the sovereign of all prosperity and the very foundation of divine grace.

namaste garuḍārūḍhe kolāsurabhayaṅkari| sarvapāpahare devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||2||

हे देवी, आपको नमस्कार है जो गरुड़ पर सवार हैं और जिन्होंने कोलासुर को भयभीत किया। आप सभी पापों और दोषों को दूर करने वाली हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको प्रणाम है। आपकी कृपा भक्त को अतीत के बोझ से मुक्त करके प्रकाश के मार्ग पर ले जाती है।

Salutations to you, O Goddess, who rides the mighty Garuda and who struck terror into the demon Kolāsura. You are the remover of all sins and accumulated wrongdoings — O Mahālakṣmī, I bow to you. Your grace lifts the devotee from the burden of past mistakes and sets them on the path of light.

sarvajñe sarvavarade sarvadūṣṭabhayaṅkari| sarvaduḥkhahare devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||3||

हे महालक्ष्मी, आप सर्वज्ञ हैं, सभी वरदान देने वाली हैं और दुष्टों के हृदय में भय उत्पन्न करने वाली हैं। आप सभी दुःखों और कष्टों को हरने वाली हैं — हे देवी, आपको नमन है। आपकी सर्वज्ञता यह सुनिश्चित करती है कि कोई भी सच्ची प्रार्थना अनसुनी नहीं रहती।

O Mahālakṣmī, you are the all-knowing one, the granter of all boons, and the one who strikes terror into the hearts of all who are wicked and corrupt. You are the remover of all sorrow and suffering — O Goddess, I bow to you. Your omniscience ensures that no sincere prayer goes unheard and no genuine effort goes unrewarded.

siddhibuddhiprade devi bhuktimuktipradāyini| mantramūrte sadā devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||4||

हे देवी, आप सिद्धि और बुद्धि देने वाली हैं और भोग तथा मोक्ष दोनों प्रदान करने वाली हैं। आप स्वयं मंत्रस्वरूपा हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको सदा नमन है। आपकी कृपा भौतिक और आध्यात्मिक जगत के बीच का सेतु है, जो बताती है कि समृद्धि और मुक्ति परस्पर विरोधी नहीं हैं।

O Goddess, you are the bestower of accomplishment and wisdom, and the one who grants both worldly enjoyment and spiritual liberation. You are yourself the very embodiment of sacred mantra — O Mahālakṣmī, I always bow to you. Your grace uniquely bridges the material and spiritual worlds, reminding us that prosperity and liberation are not opposites.

ādyantarahite devi ādyaśaktimahīśvari| yogaje yogasambhūte mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||5||

हे देवी, आप आदि और अंत से रहित हैं — आप आद्यशक्ति और समस्त सृष्टि की महान अधीश्वरी हैं। आप योग से प्रकट हुई हैं और दिव्य मिलन से उत्पन्न हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको नमन है। आपकी अनंत, असीम प्रकृति हमें याद दिलाती है कि सच्ची समृद्धि का स्रोत कभी नहीं सूखता।

O Goddess, you are without beginning or end — you are the primordial Śakti and the great sovereign of all existence. You are born of yoga and have manifested through the highest divine union — O Mahālakṣmī, I bow to you. Your eternal, boundless nature reminds us that the source of true abundance is infinite and never runs dry.

sthūlasūkṣmamahāraudre mahāśakti mahodare| mahāpāpahare devi mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||6||

हे देवी, आप स्थूल और सूक्ष्म दोनों लोकों में व्याप्त हैं; आप महारौद्री, महाशक्ति और समस्त सृष्टि की महान जननी हैं। आप महापापों को भी हरने वाली हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको नमन है। दृश्य और अदृश्य दोनों जगत आपके विशाल स्वरूप में समाहित हैं।

O Goddess, you pervade both the gross material world and the subtlest spiritual realms; you are the greatly fierce one, the supreme power, and the vast cosmic womb of all creation. You are the remover of even the gravest sins — O Mahālakṣmī, I bow to you. Both the visible world of wealth and the invisible world of grace are contained within your boundless form.

padmāsanasthite devi parabrahmasvarūpiṇi| parameśi jaganmātar mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||7||

हे देवी, आप कमल के आसन पर विराजमान हैं और आप परब्रह्म स्वरूपिणी हैं — परम सत्य की स्वयं अभिव्यक्ति। आप परमेश्वरी और जगत की माता हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको नमन है। जिस कमल पर आप बैठी हैं वह कीचड़ में उगकर भी निर्मल रहता है, जो हमें संसार से ऊपर उठने की प्रेरणा देता है।

O Goddess, you are seated on the lotus throne and you are the very embodiment of the Supreme Brahman — the ultimate reality itself. You are the supreme sovereign and the mother of the entire universe — O Mahālakṣmī, I bow to you. The lotus on which you sit rises pure from muddy waters, symbolizing the grace that lifts us from worldly entanglement to divine clarity.

śvetāmbaradhare devi nānālaṅkārabhūṣite| jagatsthite jaganmātar mahālakṣmi namo'stu te||8||

हे देवी, आप श्वेत वस्त्र धारण करती हैं और अनेक सुंदर आभूषणों से सुशोभित हैं। आप समस्त जगत में व्याप्त हैं और सभी लोकों की माता हैं — हे महालक्ष्मी, आपको नमन है। आपके श्वेत वस्त्र सच्चे ऐश्वर्य की पवित्रता के प्रतीक हैं और आपके आभूषण सृष्टि के विविध उपहारों का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं।

O Goddess, you are robed in white garments and adorned with diverse and beautiful ornaments. You are established throughout the entire universe and are the mother of all worlds — O Mahālakṣmī, I bow to you. Your white raiment symbolizes the purity at the heart of all true wealth, and your ornaments represent the diverse gifts of creation you so generously bestow.

mahālakṣmyaṣṭakaṃ stotraṃ yaḥ paṭhedbhaktimānnnaraḥ| sarvasiddhimavāpnoti rājyaṃ prāpnoti sarvadā|| ekakāle paṭhennityaṃ mahāpāpavināśanam| dvikālaṃ yaḥ paṭhennityaṃ dhanadhānyasamanvitaḥ|| trikālaṃ yaḥ paṭhennityaṃ mahāśatruvināśanam| mahālakṣmīrbhavettasya prasannā varadā śubhā||9||

जो भक्तिमान व्यक्ति महालक्ष्मी के इस अष्टक का पाठ करता है, उसे सभी सिद्धियाँ और सर्वत्र राज्य की प्राप्ति होती है। एक बार पाठ करने से महापापों का नाश होता है, दो बार से धन-धान्य की प्राप्ति होती है और तीन बार से महाशत्रुओं का नाश होता है। महालक्ष्मी प्रसन्न होकर वरदान देने वाली और मंगलकारी बन जाती हैं। यह फलश्रुति इस स्तोत्र को संपूर्ण दिव्य कृपा के वचन के साथ पूर्ण करती है।

Whoever recites this eightfold hymn of Mahālakṣmī with devotion will attain all accomplishments and sovereignty in all endeavors. Recited once daily, it destroys great sins; recited twice daily, it brings wealth and abundant sustenance; recited three times daily, it destroys powerful adversaries. Mahālakṣmī herself becomes pleased and auspiciously grants boons to such a devotee. This phalaśruti (fruit of recitation) seals the hymn with the promise of comprehensive divine grace.
