सर्वशास्त्रविद्या की श्रेणी वेदों, वेदाङ्गों, छह दार्शनिक दर्शनों, आगमों, तन्त्रों, पुराणों, महाकाव्यों, क्षेत्रीय भक्ति साहित्यों और पवित्र ज्ञान के रूप में समझे जाने वाले आधुनिक विज्ञानों को समेटती है। अय्यप्पा सर्वशास्त्रवित् के रूप में वह प्रभु हैं जो पहले से जानते हैं जो हर ग्रन्थ में है।
