दुख का नाश करने वाली - जो दानवों पर लागू उसी भयंकरता से पीड़ा को सक्रिय रूप से नष्ट करती हैं, दर्द को वह शत्रु बनाती हैं जिसके विरुद्ध वे भक्त की ओर से लड़ती हैं

दुःखहारिणी और दुःखहन्त्री के बीच का अन्तर उस चिकित्सक और योद्धा के बीच का अन्तर है जो दर्द को कम करता है बनाम जो उसके स्रोत को समाप्त करता है। जो कार्यकर्ता बाल कुपोषण समाप्त करने के लिए लड़ता है बजाय आज के भूखे बच्चों को खिलाने के - दोनों दुःखहन्त्री को मूर्त रूप देते हैं।

ॐChant when suffering needs to be confronted and destroyed, not merely consoled. Where Sarvaduḥkhavimochinī (242) liberates from suffering and Duḥkhahāriṇī (156) removes it, Duḥkhahantṛī destroys it - the most active and fierce of the three modes of the goddess's engagement with pain.
