आनन्दमयी - जो स्वयं शुद्ध आनन्द की अभिव्यक्ति हैं, वह दैवीय सत्ता जो केवल प्रसन्न नहीं बल्कि दैवीय रूप लेती हुई प्रसन्नता है, जिनका अस्तित्व ही यह घोषणा है कि आनन्द आकस्मिक नहीं बल्कि मूलभूत है

वृन्दावन की होली, कोलकाता की दुर्गा पूजा की शोभायात्राएँ, गणेश चतुर्थी का विसर्जन जहाँ लाखों सड़कों पर नाचते हैं - भक्ति संदर्भों में सामूहिक आनन्द की भारत की क्षमता मानव सभ्यता को उसके महान उपहारों में से एक है। नन्दिनी इसके लिए धर्मशास्त्रीय आधार है: जब देवी स्वयं आनन्द हों, पूजा स्वाभाविक रूप से आनन्दपूर्ण होती है।

ॐChant in bhakti celebrations and during festivals when joy is the principal mode of worship. Nandinī is the name that makes divine joy explicit: the goddess is not neutral about her creation - she finds joy in it. The devotee who worships with joy is mirroring the goddess's own mode of being.
