महिषासुरमर्दिनी की छवि - दस-भुजा दुर्गा महिषासुर की पीठ पर खड़ी, भाला उसकी गर्दन में - इतिहास में भारत की सबसे अधिक पुनःनिर्मित पवित्र छवि है। इस छवि ने चौदह शताब्दियों तक अपनी शिक्षा संचारित की है।
