Verse 1 (bhagavata.10.69.1)
śrī-śuka uvāca narakaṁ nihataṁ śrutvā tathodvāhaṁ ca yoṣitām kṛṣṇenaikena bahvīnāṁ tad-didṛkṣuḥ sma nāradaḥ
Śrī Śuka said: Hearing that Naraka had been slain, and that Krishna alone had married so many women, Narada Muni became eager to see this for himself.
Verse 2 (bhagavata.10.69.2)
citraṁ bataitad ekena vapuṣā yugapat pṛthak gṛheṣu dvy-aṣṭa-sāhasraṁ striya eka udāvahat
"How wondrous, that a single person, in a single body, simultaneously wedded sixteen thousand women, each in her own separate home" — so he thought.
Verse 3 (bhagavata.10.69.3)

Thus eager, the divine sage Narada came to see Dvaraka, resounding with the calls of birds and swarms of bees amid its flowering groves and gardens.
Verse 4 (bhagavata.10.69.4)
utphullendīvarāmbhoja- kahlāra-kumudotpalaiḥ churiteṣu saraḥsūccaiḥ kūjitāṁ haṁsa-sārasaiḥ
There the lakes, thick with blooming blue lotuses, day-lotuses, white water-lilies, night-lotuses and other lotuses, echoed with the sweet cries of swans and cranes.
Verse 5 (bhagavata.10.69.5)
prāsāda-lakṣair navabhir juṣṭāṁ sphāṭika-rājataiḥ mahā-marakata-prakhyaiḥ svarṇa-ratna-paricchadaiḥ
That city was adorned with nine hundred thousand mansions built of crystal and silver, gleaming like great emeralds and decked with gold and jewels.
Verse 6 (bhagavata.10.69.6)

Its streets, roads, squares and marketplaces were all well laid out; it was beautiful with assembly halls and temples; its paths, courtyards and lanes were freshly watered, and fluttering banners and flags kept off the sun's heat.
Verse 7 (bhagavata.10.69.7)
tasyām antaḥ-puraṁ śrīmad arcitaṁ sarva-dhiṣṇya-paiḥ hareḥ sva-kauśalaṁ yatra tvaṣṭrā kārtsnyena darśitam
Within that city was Hari's own splendid inner quarter, worshiped by all the rulers of the worlds, where Tvashta had displayed the whole of his divine artistry.
Verse 8 (bhagavata.10.69.8)
tatra ṣoḍaśabhiḥ sadma- sahasraiḥ samalaṅkṛtam viveśaikatomaṁ śaureḥ patnīnāṁ bhavanaṁ mahat
It was graced with sixteen thousand mansions. Narada entered one of these vast palaces belonging to Shauri's wives.
Verse 9 (bhagavata.10.69.9)
viṣṭabdhaṁ vidruma-stambhair vaidūrya-phalakottamaiḥ indranīla-mayaiḥ kuḍyair jagatyā cāhata-tviṣā
That palace stood upon pillars of coral inlaid with fine panels of cat's-eye gems; its walls were made of sapphire, and its floor shone with a never-fading luster.
Verse 10 (bhagavata.10.69.10)

There hung canopies fashioned by Tvashta, draped with strings of pearls, and there were ivory seats and couches adorned with the finest gems.
Verse 11 (bhagavata.10.69.11)
dāsībhir niṣka-kaṇṭhībhiḥ su-vāsobhir alaṅkṛtam pumbhiḥ sa-kañcukoṣṇīṣa su-vastra-maṇi-kuṇḍalaiḥ
That palace was graced by handmaidens dressed in fine garments and wearing golden neck-ornaments, and by men attired in tunics and turbans, fine clothes and jeweled earrings.
Verse 12 (bhagavata.10.69.12)

O King, there the darkness was entirely dispelled by the light of clustered jeweled lamps, and on the ornate rooftops peacocks danced, crying loudly at the sight of aguru incense-smoke drifting from the lattices, mistaking it for a rain-cloud.
Verse 13 (bhagavata.10.69.13)

In that mansion the brahmana saw the lord of the Satvatas, His household mistress, surrounded ever by a thousand maidservants alike in virtue, beauty, age and fine attire, personally fanning Him with a gold-handled whisk.
Verse 14 (bhagavata.10.69.14)

The moment He saw him, the Lord, foremost of all upholders of religion, rose at once from His splendid bed, bowed His crowned head to the sage's feet, and, with joined palms, seated him upon His own seat.
Verse 15 (bhagavata.10.69.15)

Though He is the master of the pious and the supreme guru of the universe, He washed Narada's feet and bore that water upon His own head — fitting to His name Brahmanya-deva, "the Lord devoted to the brahmanas," even though the very water that washes His own feet is itself the essence of every place of pilgrimage.
Verse 16 (bhagavata.10.69.16)

Narayana Himself, the primeval sage, friend of Nara, duly worshiped that foremost of celestial sages, and, addressing him in measured words as sweet as nectar, said to him: "O lord, what may We do for you?"
Verse 17 (bhagavata.10.69.17)

Narada said: O mighty one, lord of all worlds, it is no wonder that You show friendship toward all beings while subduing the wicked. We know well that You descend of Your own free will, for the highest good of all, through sustaining and protecting this universe, O widely-glorified one.
Verse 18 (bhagavata.10.69.18)

I have now beheld Your two feet, which grant liberation to all people, upon which even Brahma and other beings of unfathomable intelligence can only meditate within their hearts, and which alone are the support for those fallen into the well of worldly existence and seeking to climb out. Be gracious, that as I wander I may keep You ever in remembrance.
Verse 19 (bhagavata.10.69.19)

O King, of the deeds that Hari, the cause of the world's creation, maintenance and dissolution, performed here on earth — deeds unparalleled by any other — whoever sings of them, hears them, or simply rejoices in them, devotion surely arises in him for the Supreme Lord, who is the path to liberation.
