Verse 1 (garuda.1.178.1)

श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १७८ हरिरुवाच । ब्रह्मदण्डीवचाकुष्ठं प्रियङ्गर्नागकेशरम् । दद्यात्ताम्बूलसंयुक्तं स्त्रीणां मन्त्रेण तद्वशम् । ओं नारायण्यै स्वाहा

śrīgaruḍamahāpurāṇam 178 hariruvāca brahmadaṇḍīvacākuṣṭhaṁ priyaṅgarnāgakeśaram dadyāttāmbūlasaṁyuktaṁ strīṇāṁ mantreṇa tadvaśam oṁ nārāyaṇyai svāhā

Hari said: Giving brahmadandi, vacha, kushtha, priyangu, and nagakesara combined with betel-leaf to a woman, together with this mantra, brings her under one's influence: 'Om Nārāyaṇyai svāhā.'

Verse 2 (garuda.1.178.2)

ताम्बूलं यस्य दीयेत स वशी स्यात्सुमन्त्रतः । ओं हरिः हरिः स्वाहा

tāmbūlaṁ yasya dīyeta sa vaśī syātsumantrataḥ oṁ hariḥ hariḥ svāhā

Whoever is given this betel-leaf comes under one's influence through this excellent mantra: 'Om Hariḥ Hariḥ svāhā.'

Verse 3 (garuda.1.178.3)

गोदन्तं हरितालञ्च संयुक्तं काकजिह्वया । चूर्णोकृत्य यस्य शिरे दीयते स वशी भवेत् । श्वेतसर्षपनिर्माल्यं यद्गृहे तद्विनाशकृत्

godantaṁ haritālañca saṁyuktaṁ kākajihvayā cūrṇokṛtya yasya śire dīyate sa vaśī bhavet śvetasarṣapanirmālyaṁ yadgṛhe tadvināśakṛt

Godanta and orpiment combined with kakajihva, made into a powder and sprinkled on someone's head, brings them under one's influence. White mustard offering-remains kept in a house destroy this effect.

Verse 4 (garuda.1.178.4)

वैभी तकं शाखोटकं मूलं पत्रेण संयुतम् । स्थाप्यते यद्गृहद्वारे तत्र वै कलहो भवेत्

vaibhī takaṁ śākhoṭakaṁ mūlaṁ patreṇa saṁyutam sthāpyate yadgṛhadvāre tatra vai kalaho bhavet

Placing the root of vaibhitaka and shakhotaka, together with their leaves, at the door of a house causes strife there.

Verse 5 (garuda.1.178.5)

खञ्जरीटस्य मांसं तु मधुना सह पेषयेत् । ऋतुकालेयोनिलेपात्पुरुषो दासतामियात्

khañjarīṭasya māṁsaṁ tu madhunā saha peṣayet ṛtukāleyonilepātpuruṣo dāsatāmiyāt

Grinding the flesh of the khanjarita bird with honey and applying it as a paste to the yoni during the fertile period causes a man to become submissive.

Verse 6 (garuda.1.178.6)

अगुरुं गुग्गुलुं चैव नीलोत्पलसमन्वितम् । गुडेन धूपयित्वा तु राजद्वारे प्रियो भवेत्

aguruṁ gugguluṁ caiva nīlotpalasamanvitam guḍena dhūpayitvā tu rājadvāre priyo bhavet

Burning agaru, guggulu, and blue lotus combined with jaggery as incense makes one favoured at a king's court.

Verse 7 (garuda.1.178.7)

श्वेताप राजितामूलं पिष्टं रोचनया युतम् । यं पश्येत्तिलकेनैव वशी कर्यान्नृपालये

śvetāpa rājitāmūlaṁ piṣṭaṁ rocanayā yutam yaṁ paśyettilakenaiva vaśī karyānnṛpālaye

Grinding the root of white aparajita and combining it with gorochana, and applying it as a tilaka mark — whoever looks upon it comes under one's influence in a royal court.

Verse 8 (garuda.1.178.8)

काकजङ्घा वचा कुष्ठं निम्बपत्रं सुकुङ्कुमम् । आत्मरक्तसमायुक्तं वशी भवति मानवः

kākajaṅghā vacā kuṣṭhaṁ nimbapatraṁ sukuṅkumam ātmaraktasamāyuktaṁ vaśī bhavati mānavaḥ

Combining kakajangha, vacha, kushtha, neem leaf, and fine saffron with one's own blood, and using this, a person comes under one's influence.

Verse 9 (garuda.1.178.9)

आरण्यस्य बिडालस्य गृहित्वा रुधिरं शुभम् । करञ्जतैले तद्भाव्यं रुद्राग्नौ कज्जलं ततः । पातयेत्पद्मपत्रेण हादृश्यः स्यात्तदञ्जनात्

āraṇyasya biḍālasya gṛhitvā rudhiraṁ śubham karañjataile tadbhāvyaṁ rudrāgnau kajjalaṁ tataḥ pātayetpadmapatreṇa hādṛśyaḥ syāttadañjanāt

Taking the auspicious blood of a wild cat, processing it in karanja oil, making a lampblack collyrium over fire, and letting it drip from a lotus leaf — with this collyrium, one becomes invisible.

Verse 10 (garuda.1.178.10)

ओं नमः खड्गवज्रपाणये महायक्षसेनापतये स्वाहा । ओं रुद्रं ह्रां ह्रीं वरशक्ता त्वरिताविद्या । ओं मातरः स्तम्भयस्वाहा । सहस्रं परिजप्यात्तु विद्येयं चौरवारिणी । महासुगन्धिकामूलं शुक्रं स्तम्भेत्कटौ स्थितम्

oṁ namaḥ khaḍgavajrapāṇaye mahāyakṣasenāpataye svāhā oṁ rudraṁ hrāṁ hrīṁ varaśaktā tvaritāvidyā oṁ mātaraḥ stambhayasvāhā sahasraṁ parijapyāttu vidyeyaṁ cauravāriṇī mahāsugandhikāmūlaṁ śukraṁ stambhetkaṭau sthitam

'Om namaḥ khaḍgavajrapāṇaye mahāyakṣasenāpataye svāhā. Om Rudraṁ hrāṁ hrīṁ varashaktā tvaritā vidyā. Om mātaraḥ stambhaya svāhā.' Recited a thousand times, this knowledge wards off thieves. The root of mahasugandhika, bound at the waist, checks the emission of semen.

Verse 11 (garuda.1.178.11)

ओं नमः सर्वसत्त्वेभ्यो नमः सिद्धिं कुरु कुरु स्वाहा । सप्ताभिमन्त्रितं कृत्वा करवीरस्य पुष्पकम् । स्त्रीणामग्रे भ्रामयच्च क्षणाद्वै सा वशे भवेत्

oṁ namaḥ sarvasattvebhyo namaḥ siddhiṁ kuru kuru svāhā saptābhimantritaṁ kṛtvā karavīrasya puṣpakam strīṇāmagre bhrāmayacca kṣaṇādvai sā vaśe bhavet

'Om namaḥ sarvasattvebhyo namaḥ siddhiṁ kuru kuru svāhā.' Waving a karavira flower, consecrated seven times with this mantra, before a woman brings her under influence in an instant.

Verse 12 (garuda.1.178.12)

ब्रह्मदण्डीं वचां पत्रं मधुना सह पेषयेत् । अङ्गलेपाच्च वनिता नान्यं भर्तारमिच्छति

brahmadaṇḍīṁ vacāṁ patraṁ madhunā saha peṣayet aṅgalepācca vanitā nānyaṁ bhartāramicchati

Grinding brahmadandi, vacha, and their leaves with honey and applying it as a paste to the body causes a woman to desire no husband other [than the one who applied it].

Verse 13 (garuda.1.178.13)

ब्रह्मदण्डीशिखा वक्त्रे क्षिप्ता शुक्रस्य स्तम्भनम् । मूलं जयन्त्या वक्त्रस्थं व्यवहारे जयप्रदम्

brahmadaṇḍīśikhā vaktre kṣiptā śukrasya stambhanam mūlaṁ jayantyā vaktrasthaṁ vyavahāre jayapradam

Holding the tip of brahmadandi in the mouth checks the emission of semen. Holding the root of jayanti in the mouth grants victory in disputes.

Verse 14 (garuda.1.178.14)

भृङ्गराजस्य मूलं तु पिष्टं शुक्रेण संयुतम् । अक्षिणी चाञ्जयित्वा तु वशी कर्यान्नरं किल

bhṛṅgarājasya mūlaṁ tu piṣṭaṁ śukreṇa saṁyutam akṣiṇī cāñjayitvā tu vaśī karyānnaraṁ kila

Grinding the root of bhringaraja, combining it with semen, and applying it to the eyes, a person can bring anyone under their influence.

Verse 15 (garuda.1.178.15)

अपराजिताशिखान्तु नीलोत्पलसमन्विताम् । ताम्बूलेन प्र (दाना) दद्याच्च वशीकरणमुत्तमम्

aparājitāśikhāntu nīlotpalasamanvitām tāmbūlena pra (dānā) dadyācca vaśīkaraṇamuttamam

Combining the tip of aparajita with blue lotus and giving it as betel-leaf produces excellent attraction.

Verse 16 (garuda.1.178.16)

अङ्गुष्ठे च पदे गुल्फे जानौ च जघने तथा । नाभौ वक्षसि कुक्षौ च कक्षे कण्ठे कपोलके

aṅguṣṭhe ca pade gulphe jānau ca jaghane tathā nābhau vakṣasi kukṣau ca kakṣe kaṇṭhe kapolake

At the thumb, foot, ankle, knee, and pelvis; at the navel, chest, flank, armpit, throat, and cheek —

Verse 17 (garuda.1.178.17)

ओष्ठे नेत्रे ललाटे च मूर्ध्नि चन्द्रकलाः स्थिताः । स्त्रीणां पक्षे सिते कृष्णे ऊर्ध्वाधः संस्थिता नृणाम्

oṣṭhe netre lalāṭe ca mūrdhni candrakalāḥ sthitāḥ strīṇāṁ pakṣe site kṛṣṇe ūrdhvādhaḥ saṁsthitā nṛṇām

— and at the lips, eyes, forehead, and crown, the lunar digits (kalas) reside. In women they are placed according to the bright and dark fortnights; in men, according to the upward and downward direction.

Verse 18 (garuda.1.178.18)

वामाङ्गे दक्षिणाङ्गे च क्रमाद्रुद्र द्रवादिकृत् । चतुः षष्टि कलाः प्रोक्ताः कामशास्त्रे वशीकराः । आलिङ्गनाद्या नारीणां कमारीणां वशीकराः

vāmāṅge dakṣiṇāṅge ca kramādrudra dravādikṛt catuḥ ṣaṣṭi kalāḥ proktāḥ kāmaśāstre vaśīkarāḥ āliṅganādyā nārīṇāṁ kamārīṇāṁ vaśīkarāḥ

In the left and right side of the body respectively, O Rudra, these produce excitement and the like. The Kamashastra declares sixty-four such digits to be means of attraction; embracing and the like are means of bringing women and maidens under influence.

Verse 19 (garuda.1.178.19)

रोचनागन्धुपुष्पाणि निम्बपुष्पं प्रियङ्गवः । कुङ्कमं चन्दनञ्चैव तिलकेन जगद्वशेत्

rocanāgandhupuṣpāṇi nimbapuṣpaṁ priyaṅgavaḥ kuṅkamaṁ candanañcaiva tilakena jagadvaśet

Gorochana, fragrant flowers, neem flowers, priyangu, saffron, and sandalwood — applying a tilaka mark with these brings the whole world under influence.

Verse 20 (garuda.1.178.20)

ओं ह्रीं गौरि देवि सौभाग्यं पुत्रवशादि देहि मे । ओं ह्रीं लक्ष्मि ! देवि सौभाग्यं सर्वं त्रैलोक्यमोहनम्

oṁ hrīṁ gauri devi saubhāgyaṁ putravaśādi dehi me oṁ hrīṁ lakṣmi ! devi saubhāgyaṁ sarvaṁ trailokyamohanam

'Om hrīṁ Gauri Devi, grant me good fortune, a son, influence, and the like. Om hrīṁ Lakshmi Devi, grant good fortune and the power to enchant all three worlds.'

Verse 21 (garuda.1.178.21)

सगन्धस्य हरिद्रायाः कुङ्कमानां च लेपतः । वशयेद्रुद्र धूपश्च तथापुष्पसुगन्धयोः

sagandhasya haridrāyāḥ kuṅkamānāṁ ca lepataḥ vaśayedrudra dhūpaśca tathāpuṣpasugandhayoḥ

A paste of fragrant turmeric and saffron, O Rudra, and incense of fragrant flowers likewise produce attraction.

Verse 22 (garuda.1.178.22)

दुरालभा वचा कुष्ठं कुङ्कुमञ्च शतावरी । तिलतैलेन संयुक्तं योनिलेपाद्वशी नरः

durālabhā vacā kuṣṭhaṁ kuṅkumañca śatāvarī tilatailena saṁyuktaṁ yonilepādvaśī naraḥ

Combining duralabha, vacha, kushtha, saffron, and shatavari with sesame oil and applying it as a paste to the yoni, a man comes under influence.

Verse 23 (garuda.1.178.23)

निम्बकाष्ठस्य धूमेन धूपयित्वा भगं वधूः । सुभगास्यात्साति रुद्र पतिर्दासो भविष्यति

nimbakāṣṭhasya dhūmena dhūpayitvā bhagaṁ vadhūḥ subhagāsyātsāti rudra patirdāso bhaviṣyati

Fumigating the yoni with the smoke of neem wood makes a bride fortunate and favoured, O Rudra, and the husband becomes as submissive as a servant.

Verse 24 (garuda.1.178.24)

माहिषं नवनीतञ्च कष्टञ्च मधुयष्टिका । सौभाग्यं भगलेपात्स्यात्पतिर्दासो भवेत्तथा

māhiṣaṁ navanītañca kaṣṭañca madhuyaṣṭikā saubhāgyaṁ bhagalepātsyātpatirdāso bhavettathā

A paste of fresh buffalo butter, kushtha, and licorice bestows good fortune; applied to the yoni, the husband becomes as submissive as a servant.

Verse 25 (garuda.1.178.25)

मधुयष्टिश्च गोक्षीरं तथा च कण्टकारिका । एतानि समभागानि पिबेदुष्णेन वारिणा । चतुर्भागावशेषेण गर्भसम्भवमुत्तमम्

madhuyaṣṭiśca gokṣīraṁ tathā ca kaṇṭakārikā etāni samabhāgāni pibeduṣṇena vāriṇā caturbhāgāvaśeṣeṇa garbhasambhavamuttamam

Taking licorice, cow's milk, and kantakari in equal parts with warm water, and drinking it reduced to one quarter, brings about excellent conception.

Verse 26 (garuda.1.178.26)

मातुलुङ्गस्य बीजानि क्षीरेण सह भावयेत् । तत्पीत्वा लभते गर्भं नात्र कार्या विचारणा

mātuluṅgasya bījāni kṣīreṇa saha bhāvayet tatpītvā labhate garbhaṁ nātra kāryā vicāraṇā

Citron seeds processed with milk and drunk bring about conception; there should be no doubt about this.

Verse 27 (garuda.1.178.27)

मातुलुङ्गस्य बीजानि मूलान्येरण्डकस्य च । घृतेन सह संयोज्य पाययेत्पुत्रकाक्षिणी

mātuluṅgasya bījāni mūlānyeraṇḍakasya ca ghṛtena saha saṁyojya pāyayetputrakākṣiṇī

Citron seeds and eranda root, combined with ghee, should be given to drink to a woman who desires a son.

Verse 28 (garuda.1.178.28)

पश्वगन्धा मृत दुग्ध क्वथितं मुत्रकारकम् । पलाशस्य तु बीजानि क्षौद्रेण सह पेषयेत् । रजस्वला तु पीत्वा स्यात्मुष्पगर्भविवर्जिता

paśvagandhā mṛta dugdha kvathitaṁ mutrakārakam palāśasya tu bījāni kṣaudreṇa saha peṣayet rajasvalā tu pītvā syātmuṣpagarbhavivarjitā

Pashugandha boiled in milk and drunk acts as a diuretic. Palasha seeds ground with honey, drunk by a menstruating woman, free her from an unwanted pregnancy.
