Verse 1 (garuda.1.30.1)

।।सूत उवाच । विस्तरेण प्रवक्ष्यामि श्रीधरस्यार्चनं शुभम् । परिवारश्च सर्वेषां समोज्ञेयो हि पण्डितैः

sūta uvāca vistareṇa pravakṣyāmi śrīdharasyārcanaṁ śubham parivāraśca sarveṣāṁ samojñeyo hi paṇḍitaiḥ

Suta said: I shall declare at length the auspicious worship of Shridhara. The attendant deities of all such worships should be known by the learned to be alike.

Verse 2 (garuda.1.30.2)

ॐ श्रां हृदयाय नमः । ॐ श्रींशिरसे स्वाहा । ॐ श्रू शिखायै वषटू । ॐ श्रैं कवचाय हुं । ॐ श्रौं नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् । ॐ श्रः अस्त्राय फट् इति

oṁ śrāṁ hṛdayāya namaḥ oṁ śrīṁśirase svāhā oṁ śrū śikhāyai vaṣaṭū oṁ śraiṁ kavacāya huṁ oṁ śrauṁ netratrayāya vauṣaṭ oṁ śraḥ astrāya phaṭ iti

"Om śrāṁ, to the heart, salutation. Om śrīṁ, to the head, svaha. Om śrūṁ, to the crest, vashat. Om śraiṁ, to the armor, hum. Om śrauṁ, to the three eyes, vaushat. Om śraḥ, to the weapon, phat" — thus.

Verse 3 (garuda.1.30.3)

दर्शयेदात्मनो मुद्रां शङ्खचक्रगदादिकाम् । ध्यात्वात्मानं श्रीधराख्यं शङ्खचक्रगदाधरम्

darśayedātmano mudrāṁ śaṅkhacakragadādikām dhyātvātmānaṁ śrīdharākhyaṁ śaṅkhacakragadādharam

One should display the mudras of the conch, discus, mace, and the rest. One should meditate upon one's own self in the form of Shridhara, bearer of conch, discus, and mace.

Verse 4 (garuda.1.30.4)

ततस्तं पूजयेद्देवं मण्डले स्वस्तिकादिके । आसनं पूजयेदादौ देवदेवस्य शार्ङ्गिणः । एभिर्मन्त्रैर्महादेव तान्मत्राञ्छृणु शङ्कर

tatastaṁ pūjayeddevaṁ maṇḍale svastikādike āsanaṁ pūjayedādau devadevasya śārṅgiṇaḥ ebhirmantrairmahādeva tānmatrāñchṛṇu śaṅkara

Then one should worship that God in the mandala marked with the auspicious swastika and the rest. First one should worship the seat of the bow-bearing God of gods, with these very mantras — O great God, O Shankara, hear those mantras.

Verse 5 (garuda.1.30.5)

ॐ श्रीधरासनदेवताः आगच्छता । ॐ समस्तपरिवारायच्युतासनाय नमः

oṁ śrīdharāsanadevatāḥ āgacchatā oṁ samastaparivārāyacyutāsanāya namaḥ

"Om, deities of Shridhara's seat, come." "Om, salutation to the seat of Achyuta, together with his entire retinue."

Verse 6 (garuda.1.30.6)

ॐ धात्रे नमः । ॐ विधात्रे नमः । ॐ गङ्गायै नमः । ॐ यमुनायै नमः । ॐ आधारशक्तयै नमः । ॐ कूर्म्माय नमः । ॐ अनन्ताय नमः । ॐ पृथिव्यै नमः । ॐ धर्म्माय नमः । ॐ ज्ञानाय नमः । ॐ वैराग्याय नमः । ॐ ऐश्वर्य्याय नमः । ॐ अधर्म्माय नमः । ॐ अज्ञानाय नमः । ॐ अवैराग्याय नमः । ॐ अनैश्वर्य्याय नमः । ॐ कन्दाय नमः । ॐ नालाय नमः । ॐ पद्माय नमः । ॐ विमलायै नमः । ॐ उत्कर्षिण्यै नमः । ॐ ज्ञानायै नमः । ॐ क्रियायै नमः । ॐ योगायै नमः । ॐ प्रह्व्यै नमः । ॐ सत्यायै नमः । ॐ ईशानायै नमः । ॐ अनुग्रहायै नमः

oṁ dhātre namaḥ oṁ vidhātre namaḥ oṁ gaṅgāyai namaḥ oṁ yamunāyai namaḥ oṁ ādhāraśaktayai namaḥ oṁ kūrmmāya namaḥ oṁ anantāya namaḥ oṁ pṛthivyai namaḥ oṁ dharmmāya namaḥ oṁ jñānāya namaḥ oṁ vairāgyāya namaḥ oṁ aiśvaryyāya namaḥ oṁ adharmmāya namaḥ oṁ ajñānāya namaḥ oṁ avairāgyāya namaḥ oṁ anaiśvaryyāya namaḥ oṁ kandāya namaḥ oṁ nālāya namaḥ oṁ padmāya namaḥ oṁ vimalāyai namaḥ oṁ utkarṣiṇyai namaḥ oṁ jñānāyai namaḥ oṁ kriyāyai namaḥ oṁ yogāyai namaḥ oṁ prahvyai namaḥ oṁ satyāyai namaḥ oṁ īśānāyai namaḥ oṁ anugrahāyai namaḥ

"Om, salutation to Dhata. Om, to Vidhata. Om, to Ganga. Om, to Yamuna. Om, to the supporting power. Om, to the Tortoise. Om, to Ananta. Om, to the Earth. Om, to Dharma. Om, to Knowledge. Om, to Dispassion. Om, to Lordship. Om, to Non-dharma. Om, to Ignorance. Om, to Non-dispassion. Om, to Powerlessness. Om, to the bulb. Om, to the stalk. Om, to the lotus. Om, to Vimala. Om, to Utkarshini. Om, to the power of Knowledge. Om, to Action. Om, to Yoga. Om, to Prahvi. Om, to Truth. Om, to Ishana. Om, to Anugraha."

Verse 7 (garuda.1.30.7)

अर्चयित्वा समं रुद्र हरिमावाह्य संयजेत् । मन्त्रैरेभिर्महाप्राज्ञः सर्वपापप्रणाशनैः

arcayitvā samaṁ rudra harimāvāhya saṁyajet mantrairebhirmahāprājñaḥ sarvapāpapraṇāśanaiḥ

O Rudra, having thus worshipped uniformly, and having invoked Hari, the wise one should worship him fully with these very mantras that destroy every sin.

Verse 8 (garuda.1.30.8)

ॐ ह्रीं श्रीधराय त्रैलोक्यमोहनाय विष्णवे नमः आगच्छ

oṁ hrīṁ śrīdharāya trailokyamohanāya viṣṇave namaḥ āgaccha

"Om hrim, salutation to Shridhara Vishnu, enchanter of the three worlds — come."

Verse 9 (garuda.1.30.9)

ॐ श्रियै नमः । ऊँ श्रां हृदयाय नमः । ॐ श्रीं शिरसे नमः । ॐ श्रूं शिखायै नमः । ॐ श्रैं कवचाय नमः । ॐ श्रौं नेत्रत्रयाय नमः । ॐ श्रः अस्त्राय नमः । ॐ शङ्खाय नमः । ॐ पद्माय नमः । ॐ चक्राय नमः । ॐ गदायै नमः । ॐ श्री वत्साय नमः । ॐ कौस्तुभ्यै नमः । ॐ वनमालायै नमः । ॐ पीताम्बराय नमः । ॐ ब्रह्मणे नमः । ॐ नारदाय नमः । ॐ गुरुभ्यो नमः । ॐ इन्द्राय नमः । ॐ अग्नये नमः । ॐ यमाय नमः । ॐ निर्ऋतये नमः । ॐ वरुणाय नमः । ॐ वायवे नमः । ॐ सोमाय नमः । ॐ ईशानाय नमः । ॐ अनन्ताय नमः । ॐ ब्रह्मणे नमः । ॐ सत्त्वाय नमः । ॐ रजसे नमः । ॐ तमसे नमः । ॐ विष्वक्सेनाय नमः

oṁ śriyai namaḥ ū̃ śrāṁ hṛdayāya namaḥ oṁ śrīṁ śirase namaḥ oṁ śrūṁ śikhāyai namaḥ oṁ śraiṁ kavacāya namaḥ oṁ śrauṁ netratrayāya namaḥ oṁ śraḥ astrāya namaḥ oṁ śaṅkhāya namaḥ oṁ padmāya namaḥ oṁ cakrāya namaḥ oṁ gadāyai namaḥ oṁ śrī vatsāya namaḥ oṁ kaustubhyai namaḥ oṁ vanamālāyai namaḥ oṁ pītāmbarāya namaḥ oṁ brahmaṇe namaḥ oṁ nāradāya namaḥ oṁ gurubhyo namaḥ oṁ indrāya namaḥ oṁ agnaye namaḥ oṁ yamāya namaḥ oṁ nirṛtaye namaḥ oṁ varuṇāya namaḥ oṁ vāyave namaḥ oṁ somāya namaḥ oṁ īśānāya namaḥ oṁ anantāya namaḥ oṁ brahmaṇe namaḥ oṁ sattvāya namaḥ oṁ rajase namaḥ oṁ tamase namaḥ oṁ viṣvaksenāya namaḥ

"Om, salutation to Shri. Om śrāṁ, to the heart. Om śrīṁ, to the head. Om śrūṁ, to the crest. Om śraiṁ, to the armor. Om śrauṁ, to the three eyes. Om śraḥ, to the weapon. Om, to the conch. Om, to the lotus. Om, to the discus. Om, to the mace. Om, to Shrivatsa. Om, to Kaustubha. Om, to the forest-garland. Om, to the yellow garment. Om, to Brahma. Om, to Narada. Om, to the teachers. Om, to Indra. Om, to Agni. Om, to Yama. Om, to Nirriti. Om, to Varuna. Om, to Vayu. Om, to Soma. Om, to Ishana. Om, to Ananta. Om, to Brahma. Om, to Sattva. Om, to Rajas. Om, to Tamas. Om, to Vishvaksena."

Verse 10 (garuda.1.30.10)

अभिषेकं तथा वस्त्रं ततो यज्ञोपवीतकम् । गन्धं पुष्पं तथा धूपं दीपमन्नं प्रदक्षिणम्

abhiṣekaṁ tathā vastraṁ tato yajñopavītakam gandhaṁ puṣpaṁ tathā dhūpaṁ dīpamannaṁ pradakṣiṇam

Consecration, then clothing, then the sacred thread, sandal-paste, flowers, incense, lamp, food-offering, and circumambulation —

Verse 11 (garuda.1.30.11)

दद्यादेभिर्महामन्त्रैः समप्यार्थ जपेन्मनुम् । शतमष्टोत्तरं चापि जप्त्वा ह्यथ समर्पयेत्

dadyādebhirmahāmantraiḥ samapyārtha japenmanum śatamaṣṭottaraṁ cāpi japtvā hyatha samarpayet

One should offer these with these great mantras, and recite the mantra. Having recited it one hundred and eight times, one should then make the offering.

Verse 12 (garuda.1.30.12)

ततो मुहूर्त्तमेकन्तुध्यायेद्देवं हृदि स्थितम् । शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं सूर्य्यकोटिसमप्रभम्

tato muhūrttamekantudhyāyeddevaṁ hṛdi sthitam śuddhasphaṭikasaṁkāśaṁ sūryyakoṭisamaprabham

Then, for one muhurta, one should meditate upon the God dwelling in the heart, clear as pure crystal, radiant as ten million suns.

Verse 13 (garuda.1.30.13)

प्रसन्नवदनं सौम्यं स्फुरन्मकरकुण्डलम् । किरीटिनमुदाराङ्गं वनमालासमन्वितम्

prasannavadanaṁ saumyaṁ sphuranmakarakuṇḍalam kirīṭinamudārāṅgaṁ vanamālāsamanvitam

of gracious countenance, gentle, wearing shining crocodile-shaped earrings, crowned, of noble limbs, adorned with the forest-garland,

Verse 14 (garuda.1.30.14)

परब्रह्मस्वरूपं च श्रीधरं चिन्तयेत्सुधीः । अनेन चैव स्तोत्रेण स्तुवीत परमेश्वरम्

parabrahmasvarūpaṁ ca śrīdharaṁ cintayetsudhīḥ anena caiva stotreṇa stuvīta parameśvaram

the wise should contemplate Shridhara, the very form of the Supreme Brahman. With this hymn one should praise the Supreme Lord.

Verse 15 (garuda.1.30.15)

श्रीनिवासाय देवाय नमः श्रीपतये नमः । श्रीधराय सशार्ङ्गाय श्रीप्रदाय नमोनमः

śrīnivāsāya devāya namaḥ śrīpataye namaḥ śrīdharāya saśārṅgāya śrīpradāya namonamaḥ

"Salutation to the God who is the abode of Shri, salutation to the Lord of Shri. To Shridhara, the bow-bearer, the giver of Shri, salutation again and again."

Verse 16 (garuda.1.30.16)

श्रीवल्लभाय शान्ताय श्रीमते च नमोनमः । श्रीपर्वतनिवासाय नमः श्रेयस्कराय च

śrīvallabhāya śāntāya śrīmate ca namonamaḥ śrīparvatanivāsāya namaḥ śreyaskarāya ca

"To the beloved of Shri, the tranquil one, the glorious one, salutation again and again. Salutation to the dweller upon Shriparvata, and to the one who works well-being."

Verse 17 (garuda.1.30.17)

श्रेयसां पतये चैव ह्याश्रमाय नमोनमः । नमः श्रेयः स्वरूपाय श्रीकराय नमोनमः

śreyasāṁ pataye caiva hyāśramāya namonamaḥ namaḥ śreyaḥ svarūpāya śrīkarāya namonamaḥ

"To the Lord of all blessings, and to the one who is himself a place of refuge, salutation again and again. Salutation to the very form of blessing, to the bestower of Shri, salutation again and again."

Verse 18 (garuda.1.30.18)

शरण्याय वरेण्याय नमो भूयो नमोनमः । स्तोत्रं कृत्वा नमस्कृत्य देवदेवं विसर्जयेत्

śaraṇyāya vareṇyāya namo bhūyo namonamaḥ stotraṁ kṛtvā namaskṛtya devadevaṁ visarjayet

"To the one worthy of taking refuge in, the one worthy of choice, salutation again and yet again." Having recited the hymn and bowed, one should take leave of the God of gods.

Verse 19 (garuda.1.30.19)

इति रुद्रं समाख्यातां पूजां विष्णोर्महात्मनः । यः करोति महाभक्त्या स याति परमं पदम्

iti rudraṁ samākhyātāṁ pūjāṁ viṣṇormahātmanaḥ yaḥ karoti mahābhaktyā sa yāti paramaṁ padam

Thus, this worship of the great-souled Vishnu has been declared to Rudra. Whoever performs it with great devotion attains the supreme state.

Verse 20 (garuda.1.30.20)

यः पठतेऽध्यायं विष्णुपूजाप्रकाशकम् । स विधूयेत पापानि याति विष्णोः परं पदम्

yaḥ paṭhate'dhyāyaṁ viṣṇupūjāprakāśakam sa vidhūyeta pāpāni yāti viṣṇoḥ paraṁ padam

Whoever reads this chapter, which illuminates the worship of Vishnu, washes away his sins and attains the supreme state of Vishnu.
