The Glory of Deva-tirtha (Pandurarya)
Verse 1 (padma.6.166.1)
महादेव उवाच। वैद्यनाथात्परं तीर्थं सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायकम् । तीर्थानामुत्तमं तीर्थं देवतीर्थमनुश्रुतम्
mahādeva uvāca vaidyanāthātparaṃ tīrthaṃ sarvasiddhipradāyakam tīrthānāmuttamaṃ tīrthaṃ devatīrthamanuśrutam
Mahadeva said: Beyond Vaidyanatha is another tirtha, the bestower of every siddhi, the most excellent of tirthas, known by tradition as Deva-tirtha.
Verse 2 (padma.6.166.2)
विभीषणाद्राक्षसेंद्राद्गृहीत्वा करमोजसा । प्रारब्धो धर्मपुत्रेण राजसूयो महाक्रतुः
vibhīṣaṇādrākṣaseṃdrādgṛhītvā karamojasā prārabdho dharmaputreṇa rājasūyo mahākratuḥ
Having received tribute forcibly from Vibhishana, lord of the rakshasas, the great Rajasuya sacrifice was undertaken by the son of Dharma, Yudhishthira.
Verse 3 (padma.6.166.3)
दिग्जये दक्षिणे जाते नकुलेन हि पांडुना । साभ्रमत्यास्तटे देवि पांडुरार्येति विश्रुता
digjaye dakṣiṇe jāte nakulena hi pāṃḍunā sābhramatyāstaṭe devi pāṃḍurāryeti viśrutā
When the conquest of the southern quarter was accomplished by Nakula, son of Pandu, on the bank of the Sabarmati, O goddess, the goddess renowned as Pandurarya
Verse 4 (padma.6.166.4)
स्थापिता परया भक्त्या भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायिनी । स्नातः साभ्रमतीतोये पांडुरार्यां नमस्य च
sthāpitā parayā bhaktyā bhuktimuktipradāyinī snātaḥ sābhramatītoye pāṃḍurāryāṃ namasya ca
was established there with the highest devotion, the bestower of both worldly enjoyment and liberation. Whoever bathes in the waters of the Sabarmati and pays homage to Pandurarya,
Verse 5 (padma.6.166.5)
अणिमाद्या सिद्धयोऽष्टौ तथा मेधां महीयसीम् । नरः प्राप्नोति वै नूनं नात्र कार्या विचारणा
aṇimādyā siddhayo'ṣṭau tathā medhāṃ mahīyasīm naraḥ prāpnoti vai nūnaṃ nātra kāryā vicāraṇā
certainly obtains the eight siddhis beginning with animan, and also the greatest wisdom -- there is no need for doubt on this.
Verse 6 (padma.6.166.6)
पांडुरार्यां नमस्कृत्य शुद्धभावेन मानवः । संवत्सरकृता पूजा दातव्या तत्त्वबुद्धिभिः
pāṃḍurāryāṃ namaskṛtya śuddhabhāvena mānavaḥ saṃvatsarakṛtā pūjā dātavyā tattvabuddhibhiḥ
A man who pays homage to Pandurarya with a pure disposition -- worship performed for a full year should be offered by those of true understanding.
Verse 7 (padma.6.166.7)
तत्र तीर्थे तनुं त्यक्त्वा पांडुरार्यासमीपतः । कैलासशिखरं प्राप्य चंडेश्वरगणो भवेत्
tatra tīrthe tanuṃ tyaktvā pāṃḍurāryāsamīpataḥ kailāsaśikharaṃ prāpya caṃḍeśvaragaṇo bhavet
Whoever relinquishes the body at that tirtha, near Pandurarya, attains the summit of Kailasa and becomes one of the attendants of Chandeshvara.
Verse 8 (padma.6.166.8)
पुरा हनूमता तत्र तपस्तप्तं सुदुष्करम् । समुद्रप्लवने शक्तिर्जाता तीर्थप्रभावतः
purā hanūmatā tatra tapastaptaṃ suduṣkaram samudraplavane śaktirjātā tīrthaprabhāvataḥ
Formerly, Hanuman performed a most difficult austerity there; through the power of that tirtha, he obtained his power to leap across the ocean.
