The Glory of Nilakantha Tirtha

Verse 1 (padma.6.172.1)

महादेव उवाच। तस्मात्तीर्थात्परं तीर्थं नीलकंठेति विश्रुतम् । तस्य वै दर्शनं कार्यं मुक्तिं चैवेच्छता सदा

mahādeva uvāca tasmāttīrthātparaṃ tīrthaṃ nīlakaṃṭheti viśrutam tasya vai darśanaṃ kāryaṃ muktiṃ caivecchatā sadā

Mahadeva said: Beyond that tirtha is another, known as Nilakantha; whoever always desires liberation should behold it.

Verse 2 (padma.6.172.2)

बिल्वपत्रैस्तथा धूपैर्दीपैर्वाथ सुरेश्वरि । वांछितं लभते मर्त्यो नीलकंठस्य दर्शनात्

bilvapatraistathā dhūpairdīpairvātha sureśvari vāṃchitaṃ labhate martyo nīlakaṃṭhasya darśanāt

With bilva leaves, and with incense, or with a lamp, O queen of the gods, a mortal obtains his desire through the sight of Nilakantha.

Verse 3 (padma.6.172.3)

उपवासपरो देवि निर्जनेसौ स्थितः सदा । यद्यद्वांच्छंति ये लोकास्तेषां तत्तद्ददाति च

upavāsaparo devi nirjanesau sthitaḥ sadā yadyadvāṃcchaṃti ye lokāsteṣāṃ tattaddadāti ca

Devoted to fasting, dwelling ever in solitude, whatever people desire, that very thing he grants them.

Verse 4 (padma.6.172.4)

कलौ सा तु महादेवि विख्याता काश्यपीति वै

kalau sā tu mahādevi vikhyātā kāśyapīti vai

In the Kali age, O great goddess, that place is renowned indeed under the name Kashyapi.
