Shiva's Arrival at Himagiri's House

Verse 1 (shiva.rudra.103.1)

ब्रह्मोवाच । अथ शम्भुः समाहूय नन्द्यादीन् सकलान्गणान् । आज्ञापयामास मुदा गन्तुं स्वेन च तत्र वै

brahmovāca atha śambhuḥ samāhūya nandyādīn sakalāngaṇān ājñāpayāmāsa mudā gantuṁ svena ca tatra vai

Brahma said: "Then Shambhu, having summoned Nandi and all his ganas, joyfully commanded them to accompany him there."

Verse 2 (shiva.rudra.103.2)

शिव उवाच । अपि यूयं सह मया सङ्गच्छध्वं गिरेः पुरम् । कियद्गणानिहास्थाप्य महोत्सवपुरस्सरम्

śiva uvāca api yūyaṁ saha mayā saṅgacchadhvaṁ gireḥ puram kiyadgaṇānihāsthāpya mahotsavapurassaram

Shiva said: "Come, all of you, with me to the mountain's city; leaving behind but a few of the ganas here, let us set forth with a great festival."

Verse 3 (shiva.rudra.103.3)

ब्रह्मोवाच । अथ ते समनुज्ञप्ता गणेशा निर्ययुर्मुदा । स्वं स्वं बलमुपादाय तान् कथञ्चिद्वदाम्यहम्

brahmovāca atha te samanujñaptā gaṇeśā niryayurmudā svaṁ svaṁ balamupādāya tān kathañcidvadāmyaham

Brahma said: "Then, thus permitted, those lords of the ganas set out joyfully, each with his own host; I shall now describe them to you, as best I can."

Verse 4 (shiva.rudra.103.4)

अभ्यगाच्छङ्खकर्णश्च गणकोट्या गणेश्वरः । शिवेन सार्धं सङ्गन्तुं हिमाचलपुरं प्रति

abhyagācchaṅkhakarṇaśca gaṇakoṭyā gaṇeśvaraḥ śivena sārdhaṁ saṅgantuṁ himācalapuraṁ prati

"Shankhakarna, lord of the ganas, came with a crore of ganas, to go together with Shiva toward Himachala's city."

Verse 5 (shiva.rudra.103.5)

दशकोट्या केकराक्षो गणानां स महोत्सवः । अष्टकोट्या च विकृतो गणानां गणनायकः

daśakoṭyā kekarākṣo gaṇānāṁ sa mahotsavaḥ aṣṭakoṭyā ca vikṛto gaṇānāṁ gaṇanāyakaḥ

"Kekaraksha, that festive lord, came with ten crore of ganas; and Vikrita, leader of the ganas, with eight crore."

Verse 6 (shiva.rudra.103.6)

चतुष्कोट्या विशाखश्च गणानां गणनायकः । पारिजातश्च नवभिः कोटिभिर्गणपुङ्गवः

catuṣkoṭyā viśākhaśca gaṇānāṁ gaṇanāyakaḥ pārijātaśca navabhiḥ koṭibhirgaṇapuṅgavaḥ

"Vishakha, leader of the ganas, with four crore; and Parijata, foremost among the ganas, with nine crore."

Verse 7 (shiva.rudra.103.7)

षष्टिः सर्वान्तकः श्रीमान् तथैव विकृताननः । गणानां दुन्दुभोऽष्टाभिः कोटिभिर्गणनायकः

ṣaṣṭiḥ sarvāntakaḥ śrīmān tathaiva vikṛtānanaḥ gaṇānāṁ dundubho'ṣṭābhiḥ koṭibhirgaṇanāyakaḥ

"Sarvantaka, the glorious, with sixty crore; and likewise Vikritanana; Dundubha, leader of the ganas, with eight crore."

Verse 8 (shiva.rudra.103.8)

पञ्चभिश्च कपालाख्यो गणेशः कोटिभिस्तथा । षड्भिस्सन्दारको वीरो गणानां कोटिभिर्मुने

pañcabhiśca kapālākhyo gaṇeśaḥ koṭibhistathā ṣaḍbhissandārako vīro gaṇānāṁ koṭibhirmune

"Kapala by name, lord of the ganas, likewise with five crore; O sage, the hero Sandaraka, with six crore of the ganas."

Verse 9 (shiva.rudra.103.9)

कोटिकोटिभिरेवेह कन्दुकः कुण्डकस्तथा । विष्टम्भो गणपोऽष्टाभिर्गणानां कोटिभिस्तथा

koṭikoṭibhireveha kandukaḥ kuṇḍakastathā viṣṭambho gaṇapo'ṣṭābhirgaṇānāṁ koṭibhistathā

"Here Kanduka, and likewise Kundaka, each with a crore of crores; and Vishtambha, lord of the ganas, likewise with eight crore."

Verse 10 (shiva.rudra.103.10)

सहस्रकोट्या गणपः पिप्पलो मुदितो ययौ । तथा सनादको वीरो गणेशो मुनिसत्तम

sahasrakoṭyā gaṇapaḥ pippalo mudito yayau tathā sanādako vīro gaṇeśo munisattama

"O best of sages, Pippala, lord of the ganas, went forth joyfully with a thousand crore; and likewise the hero Sanadaka, lord of the ganas."

Verse 11 (shiva.rudra.103.11)

आवेशनस्तथाष्टाभिः कोटिभिर्गणनायकः । महाकेशः सहस्रेण कोटीनां गणपो ययौ

āveśanastathāṣṭābhiḥ koṭibhirgaṇanāyakaḥ mahākeśaḥ sahasreṇa koṭīnāṁ gaṇapo yayau

"Likewise Aveshana, leader of the ganas, with eight crore; Mahakesha, lord of the ganas, went forth with a thousand crore."

Verse 12 (shiva.rudra.103.12)

कुण्डो द्वादशकोट्या हि तथा पर्वतको मुने । अष्टाभिः कोटिभिर्वीरः समगाच्चन्द्रतापनः

kuṇḍo dvādaśakoṭyā hi tathā parvatako mune aṣṭābhiḥ koṭibhirvīraḥ samagāccandratāpanaḥ

"O sage, Kunda indeed with twelve crore, and likewise Parvataka; the hero Chandratapana came with eight crore."

Verse 13 (shiva.rudra.103.13)

कालश्च कालकश्चैव महाकालः शतेन वै । कोटीनां गणनाथो हि तथैवाग्निकनामकः

kālaśca kālakaścaiva mahākālaḥ śatena vai koṭīnāṁ gaṇanātho hi tathaivāgnikanāmakaḥ

"Kala and Kalaka, and Mahakala too, lord of the ganas, indeed with a hundred crore; and likewise the one named Agnika."

Verse 14 (shiva.rudra.103.14)

कोट्यग्निमुख एवागाद् गणानां गणनायकः । आदित्यमूर्धा कोट्या च तथा चैव घनावहः

koṭyagnimukha evāgād gaṇānāṁ gaṇanāyakaḥ ādityamūrdhā koṭyā ca tathā caiva ghanāvahaḥ

"Agnimukha, leader of the ganas, came indeed with a crore; Adityamurdha likewise with a crore, and Ghanavaha too."

Verse 15 (shiva.rudra.103.15)

सन्नाहः शतकोट्या हि कुमुदो गणपस्तथा । अमोघः कोकिलश्चैव शतकोट्या गणाधिपः

sannāhaḥ śatakoṭyā hi kumudo gaṇapastathā amoghaḥ kokilaścaiva śatakoṭyā gaṇādhipaḥ

"Sannaha indeed with a hundred crore, and likewise Kumuda, lord of the ganas; Amogha and Kokila, lord of the ganas, with a hundred crore."

Verse 16 (shiva.rudra.103.16)

सुमन्त्रः कोटिकोट्या च गणानां गणानायकः । काकपादोदरः कोटिषष्ट्या सन्तानकस्तथा

sumantraḥ koṭikoṭyā ca gaṇānāṁ gaṇānāyakaḥ kākapādodaraḥ koṭiṣaṣṭyā santānakastathā

"Sumantra, leader of the ganas, with a crore of crores; Kakapadodara with sixty crore, and likewise Santanaka."

Verse 17 (shiva.rudra.103.17)

महाबलश्च नवभिर्मधुपिङ्गश्च कोकिलः । नीलो नवत्या कोटीनां पूर्णभद्रस्तथैव च

mahābalaśca navabhirmadhupiṅgaśca kokilaḥ nīlo navatyā koṭīnāṁ pūrṇabhadrastathaiva ca

"Mahabala with nine crore, and Madhupingakokila; Nila with ninety crore, and likewise Purnabhadra."

Verse 18 (shiva.rudra.103.18)

सप्तकोट्या चतुर्वक्त्रः करणो विंशकोटिभिः । ययौ नवतिकोट्या तु गणेशानोऽहिरोमकः

saptakoṭyā caturvaktraḥ karaṇo viṁśakoṭibhiḥ yayau navatikoṭyā tu gaṇeśāno'hiromakaḥ

"Chaturvaktra with seven crore, Karana with twenty crore; and Ganeshana Ahiromaka went forth with ninety crore."

Verse 19 (shiva.rudra.103.19)

यज्वाक्षः शतमन्युश्च मेघमन्युश्च नारद । तावत्कोट्या ययुः सर्वे गणेशा हि पृथक् पृथक्

yajvākṣaḥ śatamanyuśca meghamanyuśca nārada tāvatkoṭyā yayuḥ sarve gaṇeśā hi pṛthak pṛthak

"O Narada, Yajvaksha, Shatamanyu, and Meghamanyu -- all these lords of the ganas went forth, each with that same great number of crores, each separately."

Verse 20 (shiva.rudra.103.20)

काष्ठाङ्गुष्ठश्चतुः षष्ट्या कोटीनां गणनायकः । विरूपाक्षः सुकेशश्च वृषभश्च सनातनः

kāṣṭhāṅguṣṭhaścatuḥ ṣaṣṭyā koṭīnāṁ gaṇanāyakaḥ virūpākṣaḥ sukeśaśca vṛṣabhaśca sanātanaḥ

"Kashthangushtha, leader of the ganas, with sixty-four crore; Virupaksha, Sukesha, and the eternal Vrishabha."

Verse 21 (shiva.rudra.103.21)

तालकेतुः षडास्यश्च चञ्च्वास्यश्च सनातनः । संवर्तकस्तथा चैत्रो लकुलीशः स्वयम्प्रभुः

tālaketuḥ ṣaḍāsyaśca cañcvāsyaśca sanātanaḥ saṁvartakastathā caitro lakulīśaḥ svayamprabhuḥ

"Talaketu, Shadasya, and the eternal Chanchvasya; and likewise Samvartaka, Chaitra, and Lakulisha, a lord in his own right."

Verse 22 (shiva.rudra.103.22)

लोकान्तकश्च दीप्तात्मा तथा दैत्यान्तको मुने । देवो भृङ्गिरिटिः श्रीमान्देवदेवप्रियस्तथा

lokāntakaśca dīptātmā tathā daityāntako mune devo bhṛṅgiriṭiḥ śrīmāndevadevapriyastathā

"Lokantaka, blazing in his very self, and likewise Daityantaka, O sage; the divine and glorious Bhringiriti, and likewise Devadevapriya."

Verse 23 (shiva.rudra.103.23)

अशनिर्भानुकश्चैव चतुःषष्ट्या सहस्रशः । ययुः शिवविवाहार्थं शिवेन सहसोत्सवाः

aśanirbhānukaścaiva catuḥṣaṣṭyā sahasraśaḥ yayuḥ śivavivāhārthaṁ śivena sahasotsavāḥ

"Ashani and Bhanuka too, with sixty-four thousand crore -- amid great festivity, they went forth together with Shiva, for the sake of Shiva's wedding."

Verse 24 (shiva.rudra.103.24)

भूतकोटिसहस्रेण प्रमथाः कोटिभिस्त्रिभिः । वीरभद्रश्चतुःषष्ट्या रोमजानान्त्रिकोटिभिः

bhūtakoṭisahasreṇa pramathāḥ koṭibhistribhiḥ vīrabhadraścatuḥṣaṣṭyā romajānāntrikoṭibhiḥ

"The Bhutas, with a thousand crore; the Pramathas, with three crore; Virabhadra, with sixty-four crore; the Romajas [body-born ganas], with three crore."

Verse 25 (shiva.rudra.103.25)

कोटिकोटिसहस्राणां शतैर्विंशतिभिर्वृताः । तत्र जग्मुश्च नन्द्याद्या गणपाः शङ्करोत्सवे

koṭikoṭisahasrāṇāṁ śatairviṁśatibhirvṛtāḥ tatra jagmuśca nandyādyā gaṇapāḥ śaṅkarotsave

"Surrounded by twenty hundred thousand crore upon crore of followers, Nandi and the other lords of the ganas went there, to Shankara's festival."

Verse 26 (shiva.rudra.103.26)

क्षेत्रपालो भैरवश्च कोटिकोटिगणैर्युतः । उद्वाहः शङ्करस्येत्याययौ प्रीत्या महोत्सवः

kṣetrapālo bhairavaśca koṭikoṭigaṇairyutaḥ udvāhaḥ śaṅkarasyetyāyayau prītyā mahotsavaḥ

"Kshetrapala Bhairava too, attended by a crore of crores of ganas, came with love, amid great festivity, [saying:] 'This is Shankara's wedding!'"

Verse 27 (shiva.rudra.103.27)

एते चान्ये च गणपा असङ्ख्याता महाबलाः । तत्र जग्मुर्महाप्रीत्या सोत्साहाः शङ्करोत्सवे

ete cānye ca gaṇapā asaṅkhyātā mahābalāḥ tatra jagmurmahāprītyā sotsāhāḥ śaṅkarotsave

"These, and other lords of the ganas, countless in number and mighty in strength, went there with the greatest affection and eagerness, to Shankara's festival."

Verse 28 (shiva.rudra.103.28)

सर्वे सहस्रहस्ताश्च जटामुकुटधारिणः । चन्द्ररेखावतंसाश्च नीलकण्ठास्त्रिलोचनाः

sarve sahasrahastāśca jaṭāmukuṭadhāriṇaḥ candrarekhāvataṁsāśca nīlakaṇṭhāstrilocanāḥ

"All of them had a thousand hands, wore crowns of matted locks, bore the crescent moon as their diadem, and were blue-throated and three-eyed."

Verse 29 (shiva.rudra.103.29)

रुद्राक्षाभरणाः सर्वे तथा सद्भस्मधारिणः । हारकुण्डलकेयूरमुकुटाद्यैरलङ्कृताः

rudrākṣābharaṇāḥ sarve tathā sadbhasmadhāriṇaḥ hārakuṇḍalakeyūramukuṭādyairalaṅkṛtāḥ

"All of them wore rudraksha beads as ornaments, and likewise bore the sacred ash; they were adorned with necklaces, earrings, armlets, crowns, and the like."

Verse 30 (shiva.rudra.103.30)

ब्रह्मविष्ण्विन्द्रसङ्काशा अणिमादिगुणैर्युताः । सूर्यकोटिप्रतीकाशास्तत्र रेजुर्गणेश्वराः

brahmaviṣṇvindrasaṅkāśā aṇimādiguṇairyutāḥ sūryakoṭipratīkāśāstatra rejurgaṇeśvarāḥ

"Resembling Brahma, Vishnu, and Indra, endowed with the powers of anima and the other siddhis, and radiant as a crore of suns -- there those lords of the ganas shone forth."

Verse 31 (shiva.rudra.103.31)

पृथिवीचारिणः केचित् केचित्पातालचारिणः । केचिद्व्योमचराः केचित्सप्तस्वर्गचरा मुने

pṛthivīcāriṇaḥ kecit kecitpātālacāriṇaḥ kecidvyomacarāḥ kecitsaptasvargacarā mune

"O sage, some ranged over the earth, some through the netherworlds; some moved through the sky, and some ranged across the seven heavens."

Verse 32 (shiva.rudra.103.32)

किं बहूक्तेन देवर्षे सर्वलोकनिवासिनः । आययुः स्वगणाः शम्भोः प्रीत्या वै शङ्करोत्सवे

kiṁ bahūktena devarṣe sarvalokanivāsinaḥ āyayuḥ svagaṇāḥ śambhoḥ prītyā vai śaṅkarotsave

"What need is there, O divine sage, for many words? All of Shambhu's own ganas, dwelling in every world, came with love, indeed, to Shankara's festival."

Verse 33 (shiva.rudra.103.33)

इत्थं देवैर्गणैश्चान्यैः सहितः शङ्करः प्रभुः । ययौ हिमगिरिपुरं विवाहार्थं निजस्य वै

itthaṁ devairgaṇaiścānyaiḥ sahitaḥ śaṅkaraḥ prabhuḥ yayau himagiripuraṁ vivāhārthaṁ nijasya vai

"Thus, accompanied by the gods, the ganas, and others, Lord Shankara went to Himagiri's city, indeed for the sake of his own marriage."

Verse 34 (shiva.rudra.103.34)

यदा जगाम सर्वेशो विवाहार्थं सुरादिभिः । तदा तत्र ह्यभूद्वृत्तं तच्छृणु त्वं मुनीश्वर

yadā jagāma sarveśo vivāhārthaṁ surādibhiḥ tadā tatra hyabhūdvṛttaṁ tacchṛṇu tvaṁ munīśvara

"When the Lord of all set out for the wedding, together with the gods and the rest, what happened there then -- hear that, O lord of sages."

Verse 35 (shiva.rudra.103.35)

रुद्रस्य भगिनी भूत्वा चण्डी सूत्सवसंयुता । तत्राजगाम सुप्रीत्या परेषां सुभयावहा

rudrasya bhaginī bhūtvā caṇḍī sūtsavasaṁyutā tatrājagāma suprītyā pareṣāṁ subhayāvahā

"Chandi, as Rudra's own sister, joined in the festivity and came there with great affection -- a figure who inspired great terror in others."

Verse 36 (shiva.rudra.103.36)

प्रेतासनसमारूढा सर्पाभरणभूषिता । पूर्णं कलशमादाय हैमं मूर्ध्नि महाप्रभम्

pretāsanasamārūḍhā sarpābharaṇabhūṣitā pūrṇaṁ kalaśamādāya haimaṁ mūrdhni mahāprabham

"Seated upon a throne of corpses, adorned with serpents as her ornaments, bearing upon her head a full, golden, and greatly radiant pitcher --"

Verse 37 (shiva.rudra.103.37)

स्वपरीवारसंयुक्ता दीप्तास्या दीप्तलोचना । कुतूहलं प्रकुर्वन्ती जातहर्षा महाबला

svaparīvārasaṁyuktā dīptāsyā dīptalocanā kutūhalaṁ prakurvantī jātaharṣā mahābalā

"-- attended by her own retinue, her face blazing, her eyes blazing, filled with eager curiosity, brimming with joy, and of immense strength."

Verse 38 (shiva.rudra.103.38)

तत्र भूतगणा दिव्या विरूपाः कोटिशो मुने । विराजन्ते स्म बहुशः तथा नानाविधास्तदा

tatra bhūtagaṇā divyā virūpāḥ koṭiśo mune virājante sma bahuśaḥ tathā nānāvidhāstadā

"O sage, there the divine Bhuta-hosts, misshapen, numbering in the crores, shone forth in great multitudes, and in many various forms besides."

Verse 39 (shiva.rudra.103.39)

तैः समेताग्रतश्चण्डी जगाम विकृतानना । कुतूहलान्विता प्रीता प्रीत्युपद्रवकारिणी

taiḥ sametāgrataścaṇḍī jagāma vikṛtānanā kutūhalānvitā prītā prītyupadravakāriṇī

"Accompanied by all of them, Chandi, her face fearsome, went at the front, filled with curiosity and delight -- one who, out of sheer delight, stirred up commotion wherever she went."

Verse 40 (shiva.rudra.103.40)

चण्ड्या सर्वे रुद्रगणाः पृष्ठतश्च कृतास्तदा । कोट्येकादशसङ्ख्याका रौद्ररुद्रप्रियाश्च ते

caṇḍyā sarve rudragaṇāḥ pṛṣṭhataśca kṛtāstadā koṭyekādaśasaṅkhyākā raudrarudrapriyāśca te

"Then all the Rudra-ganas were arrayed behind Chandi, eleven crore in number, terrible in aspect, and dear to Rudra."

Verse 41 (shiva.rudra.103.41)

तदा डमरुनिर्घोषैर्व्याप्तमासीज्जगत्त्रयम् । भेरीझङ्कारशब्देन शङ्खानां निनदेन च

tadā ḍamarunirghoṣairvyāptamāsījjagattrayam bherījhaṅkāraśabdena śaṅkhānāṁ ninadena ca

"Then the three worlds became filled with the roar of the damaru drums, with the clangor of great kettledrums, and with the blare of conch shells."

Verse 42 (shiva.rudra.103.42)

तथा दुन्दुभिनिर्घोषैः शब्दः कोलाहलोऽभवत् । कुर्वञ्जगन्मङ्गलं च नाशयेन्मङ्गलेतरत्

tathā dundubhinirghoṣaiḥ śabdaḥ kolāhalo'bhavat kurvañjaganmaṅgalaṁ ca nāśayenmaṅgaletarat

"And likewise with the boom of the dundubhi drums, the sound became a great tumult -- bringing auspiciousness to the world, and driving away all that was inauspicious."

Verse 43 (shiva.rudra.103.43)

गणानां पृष्ठतो भूत्वा सर्वे देवाः समुत्सुकाः । अन्वयुः सर्वसिद्धाश्च लोकपालादिका मुने

gaṇānāṁ pṛṣṭhato bhūtvā sarve devāḥ samutsukāḥ anvayuḥ sarvasiddhāśca lokapālādikā mune

"O sage, all the gods, filled with eagerness, took their place behind the ganas and followed along, together with all the Siddhas, the guardians of the quarters, and the rest."

Verse 44 (shiva.rudra.103.44)

मध्ये व्रजन् रमेशोऽथ गरुडासनमाश्रितः । शुशुभे ध्रियमाणेन छत्रेण महता मुने

madhye vrajan rameśo'tha garuḍāsanamāśritaḥ śuśubhe dhriyamāṇena chatreṇa mahatā mune

"O sage, then Ramesha, mounted upon his seat, Garuda, going in the midst of the procession, shone forth, a great parasol held above him."

Verse 45 (shiva.rudra.103.45)

चामरैर्वीज्यमानोऽसौ स्वगणैः परिवारितः । पार्षदैर्विलसद्भिश्च स्वभूषाविधिभूषितः

cāmarairvījyamāno'sau svagaṇaiḥ parivāritaḥ pārṣadairvilasadbhiśca svabhūṣāvidhibhūṣitaḥ

"He was fanned with chowries, encircled by his own hosts, attended by his own resplendent companions, and adorned in his own particular manner of ornamentation."

Verse 46 (shiva.rudra.103.46)

तथाहमप्यशोभं वै व्रजन्मार्गे विराजितः । वेदैर्मूर्तिधरैः शास्त्रैः पुराणैरागमैस्तथा

tathāhamapyaśobhaṁ vai vrajanmārge virājitaḥ vedairmūrtidharaiḥ śāstraiḥ purāṇairāgamaistathā

"And I too shone forth as I went along the way, together with the embodied Vedas, the Shastras, the Puranas, and likewise the Agamas."

Verse 47 (shiva.rudra.103.47)

सनकादिमहासिद्धैः सप्रजापतिभिः सुतैः । परिवारैः संयुतो हि शिवसेवनतत्परः

sanakādimahāsiddhaiḥ saprajāpatibhiḥ sutaiḥ parivāraiḥ saṁyuto hi śivasevanatatparaḥ

"-- together with Sanaka and the other great Siddhas, with the Prajapatis, with my own sons, and with my retinue, all intent upon the service of Shiva."

Verse 48 (shiva.rudra.103.48)

स्वसैन्यमध्यगः शक्र ऐरावतगजस्थितः । नानाविभूषितोऽत्यन्तं व्रजन् रेजे सुरेश्वरः

svasainyamadhyagaḥ śakra airāvatagajasthitaḥ nānāvibhūṣito'tyantaṁ vrajan reje sureśvaraḥ

"Indra, in the midst of his own army, mounted upon the elephant Airavata, exceedingly adorned with manifold ornaments, that lord of the gods shone forth as he went."

Verse 49 (shiva.rudra.103.49)

तदा तु व्रजमानास्ते ऋषयो बहवश्च ते । विरेजुरतिसोत्कण्ठाः शिवस्योद्वाहनं प्रति

tadā tu vrajamānāste ṛṣayo bahavaśca te virejuratisotkaṇṭhāḥ śivasyodvāhanaṁ prati

"Then those many sages, as they journeyed on, shone forth, filled with the greatest eagerness for Shiva's wedding."

Verse 50 (shiva.rudra.103.50)

शाकिन्यो यातुधानाश्च वेतालाब्रह्मराक्षसाः । भूतप्रेतपिशाचाश्च तथान्ये प्रमथादयः

śākinyo yātudhānāśca vetālābrahmarākṣasāḥ bhūtapretapiśācāśca tathānye pramathādayaḥ

"Shakinis, Yatudhanas, Vetalas and Brahmarakshasas, Bhutas, Pretas, and Pishachas, and likewise other hosts headed by the Pramathas --"

Verse 51 (shiva.rudra.103.51)

तुम्बुरुर्नारदो हाहहूहूश्चेत्यादयो वराः । गन्धर्वाः किन्नरा जग्मुर्वाद्यानाध्माय हर्षिताः

tumbururnārado hāhahūhūścetyādayo varāḥ gandharvāḥ kinnarā jagmurvādyānādhmāya harṣitāḥ

"-- Tumburu, Narada, Haha and Huhu, and other excellent Gandharvas and Kinnaras, went along, delighted, blowing and sounding their instruments."

Verse 52 (shiva.rudra.103.52)

जगतो मातरः सर्वा देवकन्याश्च सर्वशः । गायत्री चैव सावित्री लक्ष्मीरन्याः सुरस्त्रियः

jagato mātaraḥ sarvā devakanyāśca sarvaśaḥ gāyatrī caiva sāvitrī lakṣmīranyāḥ surastriyaḥ

"All the Mothers of the universe, and all the maidens of the gods everywhere; Gayatri, and Savitri, Lakshmi, and other celestial women --"

Verse 53 (shiva.rudra.103.53)

एताश्चान्याश्च देवानां पत्नयो भवमातरः । उद्वाहः शङ्करस्येति जग्मुः सर्वा मुदान्विताः

etāścānyāśca devānāṁ patnayo bhavamātaraḥ udvāhaḥ śaṅkarasyeti jagmuḥ sarvā mudānvitāḥ

"-- these and others, the wives of the gods, and the Mothers of Bhava, all went along filled with joy, [saying:] 'This is Shankara's wedding!'"

Verse 54 (shiva.rudra.103.54)

शुद्धस्फटिकसङ्काशो वृषभः सर्वसुन्दरः । यो धर्म उच्यते वेदैः शास्त्रैः सिद्धैर्महर्षिभिः

śuddhasphaṭikasaṅkāśo vṛṣabhaḥ sarvasundaraḥ yo dharma ucyate vedaiḥ śāstraiḥ siddhairmaharṣibhiḥ

"The bull, resembling pure crystal, beautiful in every part, whom the Vedas, the Shastras, the Siddhas, and the great sages call Dharma --"

Verse 55 (shiva.rudra.103.55)

तमारूढो महादेवो वृषभं धर्मवत्सलः । शुशुभेऽतीव देवर्षिसेवितः सकलैर्व्रजन्

tamārūḍho mahādevo vṛṣabhaṁ dharmavatsalaḥ śuśubhe'tīva devarṣisevitaḥ sakalairvrajan

"-- mounted upon that very bull, Mahadeva, ever tender toward Dharma, shone forth exceedingly as he went along, attended by all the divine sages."

Verse 56 (shiva.rudra.103.56)

एभिः समेतैः सफलैर्महर्षिभिर्बभौ महेशो बहुशोऽत्यलङ्कृतः । हिमालयाह्वस्य धरस्य संव्रजन् पाणिग्रहार्थं सदनं शिवायाः

ebhiḥ sametaiḥ saphalairmaharṣibhirbabhau maheśo bahuśo'tyalaṅkṛtaḥ himālayāhvasya dharasya saṁvrajan pāṇigrahārthaṁ sadanaṁ śivāyāḥ

"Together with these great sages, whose lives had now found their fulfillment, Mahesha, richly adorned in every way, shone forth as he journeyed toward the house of the mountain named Himalaya, there to take the hand of Shiva [Parvati] in marriage."

Verse 57 (shiva.rudra.103.57)

इत्युक्तं शम्भुचरितं गमनं परमोत्सवम् । हिमालयपुरोद्भूतं सद्वृत्तं शृणु नारद

ityuktaṁ śambhucaritaṁ gamanaṁ paramotsavam himālayapurodbhūtaṁ sadvṛttaṁ śṛṇu nārada

"Thus has been told this account of Shambhu's deeds, his going forth, the supreme festival that arose in Himalaya's city; hear now, O Narada, this true happening that follows."
