That son of Shiva, alive, free from distress, of altered form, O sage, the elephant-faced one, was then anointed by the gods and the chiefs of the ganas.

Having worshipped her son, the Goddess, Shankara's consort, kissed his face, and then lovingly granted him boons: 'You who suffered are now reborn—'

Brahma said: Having spoken thus, the great Goddess again worshipped her own son with various excellent offerings.

Verse 14 (shiva.rudra.136.14)

tataḥsvāsthyaṁ ca devānāṁ gaṇānāṁ ca viśeṣataḥ girijākṛpayā vipra jātaṁ tatkṣaṇamātrataḥ

Then, O brahmin, the well-being of the gods, and especially of the ganas, came about in that very instant through Girija's grace.

Verse 15 (shiva.rudra.136.15)

Shiva too, placing his own lotus hand upon his head, spoke this word to the gods: 'This is now another son of mine.'

Verse 18 (shiva.rudra.136.18)

'—if, while he is unworshipped, the gods are worshipped elsewhere first, then the fruit of that worship shall be lost — of this there is no doubt.'

'This worship should be performed by all castes, and especially by women, and especially by kings desirous of prosperity.'

Verse 60 (shiva.rudra.136.60)

yaṁ yaṁ kāmayate yo vai taṁ tamāpnoti niścitam ataḥ kāmayamānena tena sevyaḥ sadā bhavān

'Whoever desires whatever thing shall certainly obtain it; therefore, by one who desires anything, you are ever to be served.'

Verse 61 (shiva.rudra.136.61)

brahmovāca śivenaivaṁ tadā proktaṁ gaṇeśāya mahātmane tadānīṁ daivataiścaiva sarvaiśca ṛṣisattamaiḥ

Brahma said: When Shiva had thus spoken to the great-souled Ganesha, then by all the gods and the foremost of sages—

Verse 62 (shiva.rudra.136.62)

tathetyuktvā tu taiḥsarvairgaṇaiḥ śambhupriyairmune pūjito hi gaṇādhīśo vidhinā parameṇa saḥ

—saying 'so be it,' O sage, that Lord of the Ganas was worshipped by all those ganas dear to Shambhu, with the highest rite.

Verse 63 (shiva.rudra.136.63)

tataścaiva gaṇāḥ sarve praṇemuste gaṇeśvaram samānarcurviśeṣeṇa nānāvastubhirādarāt

Then all the ganas bowed to that Lord of the Ganas, and worshipped him especially with manifold offerings and reverence.

Verse 64 (shiva.rudra.136.64)

girijāyāssamutpanno yaśca harṣo munīśvara caturbhirvadanairvai tamavarṇyaṁ ca kathaṁ bruve

O lord of sages, the joy that arose in Girija — how, even with four mouths, could I describe that which is beyond description?

Verse 65 (shiva.rudra.136.65)

devadundubhayo nedurnanṛtuścāpsarogaṇāḥ jagurgandharvamukhyāśca puṣpavarṣaṁ papāta ha

The divine drums resounded, the troupes of Apsaras danced, the chief Gandharvas sang, and a shower of flowers fell.

Verse 66 (shiva.rudra.136.66)

jagatsvāsthyaṁ tadā prāpa gaṇādhīśe pratiṣṭhite mahotsavo mahānāsītsarvaṁ duḥkhaṁ kṣayaṁ gatam

The world then attained well-being, once the Lord of the Ganas was established; there was a great festival, and all sorrow came to an end.

Verse 67 (shiva.rudra.136.67)

śivāśivau ca modetāṁ viśeṣeṇāti nārada āsītsumaṅgalaṁ bhūri sarvatra sukhadāyakam

O Narada, Shiva and Shiva rejoiced exceedingly; great auspiciousness prevailed everywhere, bestowing happiness on all.

Verse 68 (shiva.rudra.136.68)

tato devagaṇāḥ sarve ṛṣīṇāṁ ca gaṇāstathā samāgatāśca ye tatra jagmuste tu śivājñayā

Then all the hosts of gods and the companies of sages who had gathered there departed, by Shiva's leave.

Verse 69 (shiva.rudra.136.69)

praśaṁsantaḥ śivāṁ tatra gaṇeśaṁ ca punaḥ punaḥ śivaṁ caiva tathā stutvā kīdṛśaṁ yuddhameva ca

Praising Shiva there, and Ganesha again and again, and praising Shiva as well — recounting what manner of battle it had been—

Verse 70 (shiva.rudra.136.70)

yadā sā girijā devī kopahīnā babhūva ha śivo'pi girijāṁ tatra pūrvavatsamprapadya tām

—and how the goddess Girija had become free of wrath — Shiva too then, approaching Girija there as before—

Verse 71 (shiva.rudra.136.71)

cakāra vividhaṁ saukhyaṁ lokānāṁ hitakāmyayā svātmārāmo'pi paramo bhaktakāryodyataḥ sadā

—brought about manifold happiness for the welfare of the worlds; though ever content within his own Self, the Supreme One is ever intent upon the work of his devotees.

Verse 72 (shiva.rudra.136.72)

viṣṇuśca śivamāpṛcchya brahmāhaṁ taṁ tathaiva hi āgacchāva svadhāmaṁ ca śivau saṁsevya bhaktitaḥ

Vishnu, taking leave of Shiva, and I, Brahma, likewise, having devotedly attended upon the divine couple, then returned to our own abodes.

Verse 73 (shiva.rudra.136.73)

nārada tvaṁ ca bhagavansaṅgīya śivayoryaśaḥ āgamo bhavanaṁ svaṁ ca śivau pṛṣṭvā munīśvara

And you, O blessed Narada, O lord of sages, having sung the glory of Shiva and Parvati and taken leave of the divine couple, came to your own abode.

Verse 74 (shiva.rudra.136.74)

etatte sarvamākhyātaṁ mayā vai śivayoryaśaḥ bhavatpṛṣṭena vighneśayaśaḥ sammiśramādarāt

All this I have told you — the glory of Shiva and Parvati — as you asked, together with the glory of Ganesha, with due reverence.

Verse 75 (shiva.rudra.136.75)

idaṁ sumaṅgalākhyānaṁ yaḥ śṛṇoti susaṁyataḥ sarvamaṅgalasaṁyuktaḥ sa bhavenmaṅgalālayaḥ

Whoever, self-controlled, listens to this most auspicious narrative shall become endowed with every auspiciousness, an abode of good fortune.

Verse 76 (shiva.rudra.136.76)

aputro labhate putraṁ nirdhano labhate dhanam bhāryārthī labhate bhāryāṁ prajārthī labhate prajām

The sonless obtains a son, the poor obtains wealth; one desiring a wife obtains a wife, one desiring offspring obtains offspring.

Verse 77 (shiva.rudra.136.77)

ārogyaṁ labhate rogī saubhāgyaṁ durbhago labhet naṣṭaputraṁ naṣṭadhanaṁ proṣitā ca patiṁ labhet śokāviṣṭaḥ śokahīnaḥ sa bhavennātra saṁśayaḥ

The sick obtains health, the unfortunate obtains good fortune; one who has lost a son or wealth regains them, and a woman parted from her husband obtains him again; one afflicted with grief becomes free of grief — of this there is no doubt.

Verse 78 (shiva.rudra.136.78)

idaṁ gāṇeśamākhyānaṁ yasya gehe ca tiṣṭhati sadā maṅgalasaṁyuktaḥ sa bhavennātra saṁśayaḥ

In whosoever's house this narrative of Ganesha remains, that house shall ever be filled with auspiciousness — of this there is no doubt.

Verse 79 (shiva.rudra.136.79)

yātrākāle ca puṇyāhe yaḥ śṛṇoti samāhitaḥ sarvābhīṣṭaṁ sa labhate śrīgaṇeśaprasādataḥ

Whoever listens to this attentively at the time of a journey or on an auspicious day obtains all desired things, through the grace of Shri Ganesha.
