Verse 45 (shiva.vayaviya.60.45)

Attended by Śaivas and Māheśvaras, and by glorious brāhmaṇas — thus, whether within or without, it should be built according to one's means.
Verse 46 (shiva.vayaviya.60.46)
sthāne śilāmaye dānte dārave ceṣṭakāmaye | kevalaṃ mṛṇmaye vāpi puṇyāraṇye'thavā girau
On a base of stone, of ivory, of wood, of brick, or simply of clay — in a sacred forest, or on a mountain —
Verse 47 (shiva.vayaviya.60.47)
nadyāṃ devālaye'nyatra deśe vātha gṛhe śubhe | āḍhyo vātha daridro vā svakāṃ śaktimavañcayan | dravyairnyāyārjitaireva bhaktyā devaṃ samarccayet
by a river, in a temple, in another region, or in an auspicious home — whether rich or poor, without holding back his own capacity, he should worship the god with devotion, using wealth honestly earned.
Verse 48 (shiva.vayaviya.60.48)
athānyāyārjitaiścāpi bhaktyā cecchivamarccayet | na tasya pratyavāyo'sti bhāvavaśyo yataḥ prabhuḥ
But if one worships Śiva with devotion even using wealth dishonestly earned, there is no fault in it for him, for the Lord is subject to inner feeling.
Verse 49 (shiva.vayaviya.60.49)
nyāyārjitairapi dravyairabhaktyā pūjayedyadi | na tatphalamavāpnoti bhaktirevātra kāraṇam
But if one worships with honestly earned wealth, yet without devotion, he obtains no fruit from it — devotion alone is the cause here.
Verse 50 (shiva.vayaviya.60.50)
bhaktyā vittānusāreṇa śivamuddiśya yatkṛtam | alpe mahati vā tulyaṃ phalamāḍhyadaridrayoḥ
Whatever is done for Śiva out of devotion, in proportion to one's means, whether small or great, the fruit is equal for the rich and the poor.
Verse 51 (shiva.vayaviya.60.51)
bhaktyā pracoditaḥ kuryādalpavitto'pi mānavaḥ | mahāvibhavasāro'pi na kuryād bhaktivarjitaḥ
A man of little wealth, moved by devotion, truly performs worship; even one of great and abundant wealth, if devoid of devotion, does not.
Verse 52 (shiva.vayaviya.60.52)
Even one who gives his entire possessions to Śiva, if devoid of devotion, does not thereby become a sharer of the fruit — devotion alone is the cause here.
Verse 53 (shiva.vayaviya.60.53)
na tattapobhiratyugrairna ca sarvairmahāmakhaiḥ | gacchecchivapuraṃ divyaṃ muktvā bhaktiṃ śivātmikām
Not by the most severe austerities, nor by all the great sacrifices, does one reach the divine city of Śiva, apart from devotion whose very nature is Śiva.
Verse 54 (shiva.vayaviya.60.54)
guhyādguhyataraṃ kṛṣṇa sarvatra parameśvare | śive bhaktirna sandehastayā yukto vimucyate
More secret than the secret, O Kṛṣṇa, is this regarding the Supreme Lord everywhere: devotion to Śiva — there is no doubt that one joined with it is liberated.
Verse 55 (shiva.vayaviya.60.55)
śivamantrajapo dhyānaṃ homo yajñastapaḥśrutam | dānamadhyayanaṃ sarve bhāvārthaṃ nātra saṃśayaḥ
The recitation of Śiva's mantra, meditation, fire-oblation, sacrifice, austerity, sacred learning, charity, and study — all of these exist for the sake of inner feeling; there is no doubt of this.
Verse 56 (shiva.vayaviya.60.56)
bhāvahīno naraḥ sarvaṃ kṛtvāpi na vimucyate | bhāvayuktaḥ punaḥ sarvamakṛtvāpi vimucyate
A man devoid of that inner feeling, though he perform all of these, is not liberated; one joined with it, in turn, is liberated even without performing all of them.
Verse 57 (shiva.vayaviya.60.57)
cāndrāyaṇasahasraiśca prājāpatyaśataistathā | māsopavāsaiścānyaiśca śivabhaktasya kiṃ punaḥ
What need is there of a thousand cāndrāyaṇa fasts, a hundred prājāpatya observances, and other month-long fasts, for one who is devoted to Śiva?
Verse 58 (shiva.vayaviya.60.58)
abhaktā mānavāścāsmiṃlloke giriguhāsu ca | tapanti cālpabhogārthaṃ bhakto bhāvena mucyate
Men without devotion practice austerities in this world and in mountain caves merely for the sake of a small enjoyment; the devotee is liberated through inner feeling alone.
Verse 59 (shiva.vayaviya.60.59)
sāttvikaṃ muktidaṃ karma sattve vai yoginaḥ sthitāḥ | rājasaṃ siddhidaṃ kuryuḥ karmiṇo rajasāvṛtāḥ
Sattvic action bestows liberation — yogis indeed abide in sattva; rajasic action, performed by ritualists overcome by rajas, bestows worldly accomplishment.
Verse 60 (shiva.vayaviya.60.60)
asurā rākṣasāścaiva tamoguṇasamanvitāḥ | aihikārthaṃ yajantīśaṃ narāścānye'pi tādṛśāḥ
Asuras and rākṣasas, endowed with the quality of tamas, and other men of that same kind, worship the Lord only for the sake of this-worldly gain.
Verse 61 (shiva.vayaviya.60.61)
tāmasaṃ rājasaṃ vāpi sāttvikaṃ bhāvameva ca | āśritya bhaktyā pūjādyaṃ kurvan bhadraṃ samaśnute
Resorting to a tamasic, rajasic, or sattvic disposition, whoever performs worship and the rest with devotion, obtains good fortune.
Verse 62 (shiva.vayaviya.60.62)
yataḥ pāpārṇavāt trātuṃ bhaktirnauriva nirmitā | tasmādbhaktyupapannasya rajasā tamasā ca kim
Since devotion has been fashioned like a boat, to save one from the ocean of sin, what then have rajas and tamas to do with one who is possessed of devotion?
Verse 63 (shiva.vayaviya.60.63)
antyajo vādhamo vāpi mūrkho vā patito'pi vā | śivaṃ prapannaścet kṛṣṇa pūjyaḥ sarvasurāsuraiḥ
Be he an outcaste, or lowest of the low, or a fool, or even a fallen man — if he has taken refuge in Śiva, O Kṛṣṇa, he is to be worshipped by all gods and demons alike.
Verse 64 (shiva.vayaviya.60.64)
tasmāt sarvaprayatnena bhaktyaiva śivamarcayet | abhuktānāṃ kvacidapi phalaṃ nāsti yatastataḥ
Therefore, with all effort, one should worship Śiva through devotion alone; for those without that devotion, there is nowhere any fruit at all.
Verse 65 (shiva.vayaviya.60.65)
vakṣyāmyatirahasyaṃ te śṛṇu kṛṣṇa vaco mama | vedaiḥ śāstrairvedavidbhirvicārya suviniścitam
I shall now declare to you a most secret teaching — hear my words, O Kṛṣṇa — a truth well ascertained after deliberation by the Vedas, the scriptures, and the knowers of the Veda.
