The Glory of Kankala-Bhairava Kshetrapala

Verse 1 (skanda.7.137.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। तत्रैव संस्थितं पश्येत्क्षेत्रपालमनुत्तमम्। कंकालभैरवं नाम भैरवेण नियोजितम्। तस्य क्षेत्रस्य रक्षार्थं प्राणिनां दुष्टचेतसाम्

īśvara uvāca| tatraiva saṁsthitaṁ paśyetkṣetrapālamanuttamam| kaṁkālabhairavaṁ nāma bhairaveṇa niyojitam| tasya kṣetrasya rakṣārthaṁ prāṇināṁ duṣṭacetasām

Ishvara said: There itself one should behold the incomparable Kshetrapala known as Kankala-Bhairava, appointed by Bhairava for the protection of that field from evil-minded beings.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.137.2)

श्रावणे शुक्लपञ्चम्यामष्टम्यामाश्विनस्य च। यस्तं पूजयते भक्त्या बलिपुष्पादिभिः क्रमात्

śrāvaṇe śuklapañcamyāmaṣṭamyāmāśvinasya ca| yastaṁ pūjayate bhaktyā balipuṣpādibhiḥ kramāt

Whoever worships him with devotion, in due order, with offerings of bali, flowers and the like, on the fifth of the bright fortnight of Shravana and on the eighth of Ashvina,

Verse 3 (skanda.7.137.3)

तस्य क्षेत्रे निवसतः पुष्करस्य महात्मनः। निर्विघ्नकारी भवति तथा रक्षति पुत्रवत्

tasya kṣetre nivasataḥ puṣkarasya mahātmanaḥ| nirvighnakārī bhavati tathā rakṣati putravat

For that great-souled Pushkara who dwells in that field, he becomes the remover of obstacles, and protects him as a son.
