The Glory of Ratneshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.155.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि रत्नेश्वरमनुत्तमम्। तत्र तप्त्वा तपो देवि विष्णुना प्रभविष्णुना। स्थापितं तत्र तल्लिंगं सर्वकामप्रदं प्रिये

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi ratneśvaramanuttamam| tatra taptvā tapo devi viṣṇunā prabhaviṣṇunā| sthāpitaṁ tatra talliṅgaṁ sarvakāmapradaṁ priye

Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the incomparable Ratneshvara. There, O Goddess, the mighty Vishnu performed austerities and established that linga, granter of every desire, O beloved.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.155.2)

रत्नकुंडे नरः स्नात्वा यस्तं पूजयते सदा। सर्वोपचारैर्भक्त्या स प्राप्नुयादीप्सितं फलम्

ratnakuṁḍe naraḥ snātvā yastaṁ pūjayate sadā| sarvopacārairbhaktyā sa prāpnuyādīpsitaṁ phalam

Whatever man, having bathed in Ratnakunda, worships him always with devotion and all due offerings, obtains the fruit he desires.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.155.3)

अत्र कृत्वा तपो घोरं कृष्णेनामिततेजसा। प्राप्तं सुदर्शनं चक्रं सर्वदैत्यान्तकारकम्

atra kṛtvā tapo ghoraṁ kṛṣṇenāmitatejasā| prāptaṁ sudarśanaṁ cakraṁ sarvadaityāntakārakam

Here, performing terrible austerities, Krishna of boundless splendor obtained the Sudarshana discus, the destroyer of all demons.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.155.4)

एतत्स्थानं महादेवि सदा प्रियतरं मम। वसामि तत्र देवेशि प्रलयेऽपि न संत्यजे

etatsthānaṁ mahādevi sadā priyataraṁ mama| vasāmi tatra deveśi pralaye'pi na saṁtyaje

O great Goddess, this place is ever dearer to me; O queen of gods, I dwell there and do not abandon it even at the dissolution of the universe.

Verse 5 (skanda.7.155.5)

स्मृतं तद्वैष्णवं क्षेत्रं नाम्ना देवि सुदर्शनम्। धन्वंतराणि षट्त्रिंशत्समंतात्परिमण्डलम्

smṛtaṁ tadvaiṣṇavaṁ kṣetraṁ nāmnā devi sudarśanam| dhanvaṁtarāṇi ṣaṭtriṁśatsamaṁtātparimaṇḍalam

O Goddess, that Vaishnava sacred field is known by the name Sudarshana, extending all around in a circuit of thirty-six bow-lengths.

Verse 6 (skanda.7.155.6)

एतदन्तरमासाद्य ये केचित्प्राणिनोऽधमाः। मृताः कालवशाद्देवि ते यास्यंति परं पदम्

etadantaramāsādya ye kecitprāṇino'dhamāḥ| mṛtāḥ kālavaśāddevi te yāsyaṁti paraṁ padam

O Goddess, whatever base creatures reach within this precinct and die there under the sway of time attain the supreme state.

Verse 7 (skanda.7.155.7)

कांचनं तत्र गरुडं पीतानि वसनानि च। विष्णुमुद्दिश्य यो दद्यात्स तु यात्राफलं लभेत्

kāṁcanaṁ tatra garuḍaṁ pītāni vasanāni ca| viṣṇumuddiśya yo dadyātsa tu yātrāphalaṁ labhet

Whoever, with Vishnu in mind, gives there a golden Garuda and yellow garments obtains the fruit of the pilgrimage.
