The Glory of Garudeshvara (Vainateya)

Verse 1 (skanda.7.156.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि वैनतेयप्रतिष्ठितम्। रत्नेश्वरादुत्तरतो धनुषां त्रितये स्थितम्

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi vainateyapratiṣṭhitam| ratneśvarāduttarato dhanuṣāṁ tritaye sthitam

Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the linga established by Vainateya (Garuda), situated to the north of Ratneshvara at a distance of three bow-lengths.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.156.2)

वैनतेयश्च देवेशि ज्ञात्वा क्षेत्रं तु वैष्णवम्। लिंगं प्रतिष्ठयामास सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्

vainateyaśca deveśi jñātvā kṣetraṁ tu vaiṣṇavam| liṅgaṁ pratiṣṭhayāmāsa sarvapāpapraṇāśanam

O queen of gods, Vainateya, recognizing this as a Vaishnava field, established that linga, the destroyer of all sins.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.156.3)

यस्तं पूजयते भक्त्या पंचम्यां तु विधानतः। न विषं क्रमते तस्य सप्त जन्मानि सर्पजम्

yastaṁ pūjayate bhaktyā paṁcamyāṁ tu vidhānataḥ| na viṣaṁ kramate tasya sapta janmāni sarpajam

Whoever worships him with devotion, duly, on the fifth lunar day, is untouched by serpent-born poison for seven lifetimes.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.156.4)

पंचामृतेन संस्नाप्य पूजयित्वा विधानतः। प्राप्नुयात्सकलं पुण्यं मोदते दिवि देववत्

paṁcāmṛtena saṁsnāpya pūjayitvā vidhānataḥ| prāpnuyātsakalaṁ puṇyaṁ modate divi devavat

Having bathed the linga in the five nectars and worshipped it duly, one obtains complete merit and rejoices in heaven like a god.
