The Glory of Kuntishvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.174.1)

ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि कुन्तीश्वरमनुत्तमम्। सावित्र्याः पूर्वभागस्थं खातमध्ये व्यवस्थितम्

tato gacchenmahādevi kuntīśvaramanuttamam| sāvitryāḥ pūrvabhāgasthaṁ khātamadhye vyavasthitam

Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the incomparable Kuntishvara, situated amid the excavated tank, in the eastern part of Savitri.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.174.2)

कुन्त्या प्रतिष्ठितं देवि क्षेत्रे प्राभासिके प्रिये। पाण्डवास्तु यदा पूर्वं प्रभासक्षेत्रमागताः

kuntyā pratiṣṭhitaṁ devi kṣetre prābhāsike priye| pāṇḍavāstu yadā pūrvaṁ prabhāsakṣetramāgatāḥ

O beloved goddess, it was established by Kunti in the Prabhasa field. When, in former times, the Pandavas came to the sacred field of Prabhasa,

Verse 3 (skanda.7.174.3)

तीर्थयात्राप्रसंगेन कुन्त्या चैव समन्विताः। तस्मिन्काले महादेवि ज्ञात्वा क्षेत्रमनुत्तमम्

tīrthayātrāprasaṁgena kuntyā caiva samanvitāḥ| tasminkāle mahādevi jñātvā kṣetramanuttamam

accompanied by Kunti, in the course of a pilgrimage — at that time, O great Goddess, having recognized this incomparable field,

Verse 4 (skanda.7.174.4)

कुन्त्या प्रतिष्ठितं लिंगं सर्वपापभयापहम्। कार्तिक्यां तु विशेषेण यस्तं पूजयते नरः। स सर्वकामतृप्तात्मा रुद्रलोके महीयते

kuntyā pratiṣṭhitaṁ liṁgaṁ sarvapāpabhayāpaham| kārtikyāṁ tu viśeṣeṇa yastaṁ pūjayate naraḥ| sa sarvakāmatṛptātmā rudraloke mahīyate

Kunti established there a linga that removes all sin and fear. The man who especially worships it on the Kartiki, his soul satisfied in all desires, attains glory in the world of Rudra.

Verse 5 (skanda.7.174.5)

वाचिकं मानसं पापं कर्मणा यदुपार्जितम्। तत्सर्वं नश्यते देवि तस्य लिंगस्य दर्शनात्

vācikaṁ mānasaṁ pāpaṁ karmaṇā yadupārjitam| tatsarvaṁ naśyate devi tasya liṁgasya darśanāt

Whatever sin has been acquired by speech, by mind, or by deed — O goddess, all of it is destroyed by the mere sight of that linga.
