The Glory of Arkasthala

Verse 1 (skanda.7.175.1)

ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि पुण्यमर्कस्थलं शुभम्। तस्मादाग्नेयकोणस्थं सर्वपातकनाशनम्

tato gacchenmahādevi puṇyamarkasthalaṁ śubham| tasmādāgneyakoṇasthaṁ sarvapātakanāśanam

Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the holy and auspicious Arkasthala, situated in the southeastern corner from there, the destroyer of all sins.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.175.2)

तं दृष्ट्वा मानुषो देवि न शोच्यः संप्रजायते। सप्त जन्मानि देवेशि दारिद्र्यं नैव जायते

taṁ dṛṣṭvā mānuṣo devi na śocyaḥ saṁprajāyate| sapta janmāni deveśi dāridryaṁ naiva jāyate

O goddess, having seen it, a man never becomes an object of grief; O goddess of gods, for seven births poverty never befalls him.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.175.3)

कुष्ठानि नाशमायांति तं दृष्ट्वा दशधा प्रिये। गोशतस्य प्रदत्तस्य कुरुक्षेत्रेषु यत्फलम्

kuṣṭhāni nāśamāyāṁti taṁ dṛṣṭvā daśadhā priye| gośatasya pradattasya kurukṣetreṣu yatphalam

O beloved, by seeing it, the ten kinds of leprosy are destroyed. Whatever fruit there is in giving a hundred cows in Kurukshetra —

Verse 4 (skanda.7.175.4)

तत्फलं समवाप्नोति दृष्ट्वा वार्कस्थलं रविम्। स्नात्वा त्रिसंगमे तीर्थे सप्तैव रविवासरान्

tatphalaṁ samavāpnoti dṛṣṭvā vārkasthalaṁ ravim| snātvā trisaṁgame tīrthe saptaiva ravivāsarān

that same fruit is obtained by beholding the Sun at Arkasthala. Having bathed at the Trisangama tirtha for seven Sundays,

Verse 5 (skanda.7.175.5)

ब्राह्मणान्भोजयित्वा तु महिषीं तत्र दापयेत्। दिव्यं वर्षसहस्रं तु स्वर्गलोके महीयते

brāhmaṇānbhojayitvā tu mahiṣīṁ tatra dāpayet| divyaṁ varṣasahasraṁ tu svargaloke mahīyate

having fed brahmins, one should there donate a she-buffalo; thus one attains glory in the heavenly world for a divine thousand years.
