The Glory of Gangapatha and Gangeshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.267.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि स्थानं गंगापथेति च। यत्र गंगा महास्रोता गंगेश्वरः शिवस्तथा॥

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchet mahādevi sthānaṁ gaṅgāpatheti ca| yatra gaṅgā mahāsrotā gaṅgeśvaraḥ śivastathā||

Ishvara said: Thereafter, O Mahadevi, one should go to the place called Gangapatha, where the great-streamed Ganga flows and where Shiva as Gangeshvara resides.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.267.2)

समुद्रगामिनी देवि सा गंगा पापनाशिनी। उत्तानेति भुवि ख्याता नदी त्रैलोक्यभूषणा॥

samudragāminī devi sā gaṅgā pāpanāśinī| uttāneti bhuvi khyātā nadī trailokyabhūṣaṇā||

O Goddess, that Ganga, flowing toward the ocean, is the destroyer of sins. This river, known on earth by the name Uttana, is an ornament to all three worlds.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.267.3)

तत्र स्नात्वा महादेवि गंगेशं यस्तु पूजयेत्। मुक्तः स्यात्पातकैर्घोरैरश्वमेधायुतं लभेत्॥

tatra snātvā mahādevi gaṅgeśaṁ yastu pūjayet| muktaḥ syātpātakairghorairaśvamedhāyutaṁ labhet||

O Mahadevi, whoever bathes there and worships Gangeshvara is freed from terrible sins and obtains the merit of ten thousand Ashvamedha sacrifices.
