The Glory of Talasvami

Verse 1 (skanda.7.330.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। तस्मात्तदुन्नतस्थानादुत्तरे योजनत्रयात्। तत्र तप्तोदकस्वामी तलो यत्र हतः पुरा

īśvara uvāca| tasmāttadunnatasthānāduttare yojanatrayāt| tatra taptodakasvāmī talo yatra hataḥ purā

Ishvara said: From that exalted place, three yojanas to the north, is Taptodaka-svami, where the demon Tala was slain of old.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.330.2)

दैत्यानामधिपो देवि विष्णुना प्रभविष्णुना। कृत्वा वर्षशतं युद्धं तलस्वामी ततोऽभवत्

daityānāmadhipo devi viṣṇunā prabhaviṣṇunā| kṛtvā varṣaśataṁ yuddhaṁ talasvāmī tato'bhavat

O Devi, that lord of the daityas, after waging war for a hundred years with the all-powerful Vishnu, thereafter became known as Talasvami.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.330.3)

तप्तकुण्डे नरः स्नात्वा तलस्वामिनमर्चयेत्। हृत्वा पिंडप्रदानं तु कोटियात्राफलं लभेत्

taptakuṇḍe naraḥ snātvā talasvāminamarcayet| hṛtvā piṁḍapradānaṁ tu koṭiyātrāphalaṁ labhet

A man who bathes in the hot-water tank and worships Talasvami, offering the pinda there, obtains the merit of a crore pilgrimages.
